1 A mulher sábia edifica a sua casa, mas com as próprias mãos a insensata derruba a sua.

¶ Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish plucks it down with her hands.

2 Q uem anda direito teme o Senhor, mas quem segue caminhos enganosos o despreza.

¶ He that walks in his uprightness fears the LORD, but he that is perverse in his ways despises him.

3 A conversa do insensato traz a vara para as suas costas, mas os lábios dos sábios os protegem.

¶ In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride, but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

4 O nde não há bois o celeiro fica vazio, mas da força do boi vem a grande colheita.

¶ Without oxen, the storehouse is clean, but by the strength of the ox there is abundance of bread.

5 A testemunha sincera não engana, mas a falsa transborda em mentiras.

¶ The true witness will not lie, but the false witness will utter lies.

6 O zombador busca sabedoria e nada encontra, mas o conhecimento vem facilmente ao que tem discernimento.

¶ The scorner sought wisdom and found it not, but wisdom comes easy unto him that understands.

7 M antenha-se longe do tolo, pois você não achará conhecimento no que ele falar.

¶ Go from the presence of the foolish man when thou dost not perceive in him the lips of knowledge.

8 A sabedoria do homem prudente é discernir o seu caminho, mas a insensatez dos tolos é enganosa.

¶ The wisdom of the sane is to understand his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

9 O s insensatos zombam da idéia de reparar o pecado cometido, mas a boa vontade está entre os justos.

¶ Fools speak sin unto themselves, but among the righteous there is love.

10 C ada coração conhece a sua própria amargura, e não há quem possa partilhar sua alegria.

¶ The heart knows the bitterness of his soul, and a stranger shall not intermeddle with his joy.

11 A casa dos ímpios será destruída, mas a tenda dos justos florescerá.

¶ The house of the wicked shall be made desolate, but the tent of the upright shall flourish.

12 H á caminho que parece certo ao homem, mas no final conduz à morte.

¶ There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

13 M esmo no riso o coração pode sofrer, e a alegria pode terminar em tristeza.

¶ Even in laughter, the scorner has pain in his heart, and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

14 O s infiéis receberão a retribuição de sua conduta, mas o homem bom será recompensado.

¶ The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and the good man shall be separated from him.

15 O inexperiente acredita em qualquer coisa, mas o homem prudente vê bem onde pisa.

¶ The simple believes every word, but the prudent man understands his steps.

16 O sábio é cauteloso e evita o mal, mas o tolo é impetuoso e irresponsável.

¶ The wise man fears and departs from evil, but the fool rages and is confident.

17 Q uem é irritadiço faz tolices, e o homem cheio de astúcias é odiado.

¶ He that is soon angry shall deal foolishly, and the man of wicked devices shall be hated.

18 O s inexperientes herdam a insensatez, mas o conhecimento é a coroa dos prudentes.

¶ The simple shall inherit folly, but the prudent shall be crowned with wisdom.

19 O s maus se inclinarão diante dos homens de bem, e os ímpios, às portas da justiça.

¶ Those who are evil shall bow before those who are good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20 O s pobres são evitados até por seus vizinhos, mas os amigos dos ricos são muitos.

¶ The poor is hated even of his own neighbour, but many are those who love the rich.

21 Q uem despreza o próximo comete pecado, mas como é feliz quem trata com bondade os necessitados!

¶ The sinner despises his neighbour, but he that has mercy on the poor is blessed.

22 N ão é certo que se perdem os que só pensam no mal? Mas os que planejam o bem encontram amor e fidelidade.

¶ Do they not err that meditate upon evil? but those that meditate upon good shall attain mercy and truth.

23 T odo trabalho árduo traz proveito, mas o só falar leva à pobreza.

¶ In all labour there is fruit, but to talk and not do, brings poverty.

24 A riqueza dos sábios é a sua coroa, mas a insensatez dos tolos produz apenas insensatez.

¶ The crown of the wise is their wisdom, but that which distinguishes fools is their folly.

25 A testemunha que fala a verdade salva vidas, mas a testemunha falsa é enganosa.

¶ The true witness delivers souls, but the deceitful one speaks lies.

26 A quele que teme o Senhor possui uma fortaleza segura, refúgio para os seus filhos.

¶ In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence, and there his sons shall have hope.

27 O temor do Senhor é fonte de vida, e afasta das armadilhas da morte.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

28 U ma grande população é a glória do rei, mas, sem súditos, o príncipe está arruinado.

¶ In the multitude of the people is the king’s glory, but in the failure of the people is the weakness of the prince.

29 O homem paciente dá prova de grande entendimento, mas o precipitado revela insensatez.

¶ He that is slow to wrath is of great intelligence, but he that is short of spirit exalts folly.

30 O coração em paz dá vida ao corpo, mas a inveja apodrece os ossos.

¶ A sound heart is life to the flesh, but envy is rottenness of the bones.

31 O primir o pobre é ultrajar o seu Criador, mas tratar com bondade o necessitado é honrar a Deus.

¶ He that oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, but he that has mercy on the poor, honours him.

32 Q uando chega a calamidade, os ímpios são derrubados; os justos, porém, até em face da morte encontram refúgio.

¶ For his wickedness shall the wicked be cast out, but the righteous in his death has hope.

33 A sabedoria repousa no coração dos que têm discernimento, e mesmo entre os tolos ela se deixa conhecer.

¶ Wisdom shall rest in the heart of him that is sane and is made known in the midst of the fools.

34 A justiça engrandece a nação, mas o pecado é uma vergonha para qualquer povo.

¶ Righteousness exalts a people, but sin is a reproach to the nations.

35 O servo sábio agrada o rei, mas o que procede vergonhosamente incorre em sua ira.

¶ The king’s favour is toward the wise slave, but his wrath is against him that causes shame.
