¶ Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish plucks it down with her hands.

¶ He that walks in his uprightness fears the LORD, but he that is perverse in his ways despises him.

3 E n la boca del necio hay una vara para su espalda, pero los labios de los sabios los protegerán.

¶ In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride, but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

4 D onde no hay bueyes, el pesebre está limpio, pero mucho rendimiento se obtiene por la fuerza del buey.

¶ Without oxen, the storehouse is clean, but by the strength of the ox there is abundance of bread.

5 E l testigo veraz no mentirá, pero el testigo falso habla mentiras.

¶ The true witness will not lie, but the false witness will utter lies.

6 E l escarnecedor busca sabiduría, y no la halla, pero para el hombre entendido el conocimiento es fácil.

¶ The scorner sought wisdom and found it not, but wisdom comes easy unto him that understands.

7 A pártate de la presencia del necio, porque en él no discernirás palabras de conocimiento.

¶ Go from the presence of the foolish man when thou dost not perceive in him the lips of knowledge.

8 L a sabiduría del prudente está en entender su camino, mas la necedad de los necios es engaño.

¶ The wisdom of the sane is to understand his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

9 L os necios se mofan del pecado, pero entre los rectos hay buena voluntad.

¶ Fools speak sin unto themselves, but among the righteous there is love.

10 E l corazón conoce su propia amargura, y un extraño no comparte su alegría.

¶ The heart knows the bitterness of his soul, and a stranger shall not intermeddle with his joy.

11 L a casa de los impíos será destruida, pero la tienda de los rectos florecerá.

¶ The house of the wicked shall be made desolate, but the tent of the upright shall flourish.

12 H ay camino que al hombre le parece derecho, pero al final, es camino de muerte.

¶ There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

13 A un en la risa, el corazón puede tener dolor, y el final de la alegría puede ser tristeza.

¶ Even in laughter, the scorner has pain in his heart, and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

14 E l de corazón descarriado se saciará de sus caminos, pero el hombre bueno estará satisfecho con el suyo.

¶ The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and the good man shall be separated from him.

15 E l simple todo lo cree, pero el prudente mira bien sus pasos.

¶ The simple believes every word, but the prudent man understands his steps.

16 E l sabio teme y se aparta del mal, pero el necio es arrogante y descuidado.

¶ The wise man fears and departs from evil, but the fool rages and is confident.

17 E l hombre pronto a la ira obra neciamente, y el hombre de malos designios es aborrecido.

¶ He that is soon angry shall deal foolishly, and the man of wicked devices shall be hated.

18 L os simples heredan necedad, mas los prudentes son coronados de conocimiento.

¶ The simple shall inherit folly, but the prudent shall be crowned with wisdom.

19 L os malos se inclinarán ante los buenos, y los impíos, a las puertas del justo.

¶ Those who are evil shall bow before those who are good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20 A un por su vecino es odiado el pobre, pero son muchos los que aman al rico.

¶ The poor is hated even of his own neighbour, but many are those who love the rich.

21 E l que desprecia a su prójimo peca, pero es feliz el que se apiada de los pobres.

¶ The sinner despises his neighbour, but he that has mercy on the poor is blessed.

22 ¿ No se perderán los que traman el mal ?; pero misericordia y verdad recibirán los que planean el bien.

¶ Do they not err that meditate upon evil? but those that meditate upon good shall attain mercy and truth.

23 E n todo trabajo hay ganancia, pero el vano hablar conduce sólo a la pobreza.

¶ In all labour there is fruit, but to talk and not do, brings poverty.

24 L a corona de los sabios es su riqueza, mas la necedad de los necios es insensatez.

¶ The crown of the wise is their wisdom, but that which distinguishes fools is their folly.

25 E l testigo veraz salva vidas, pero el que habla mentiras es traidor.

¶ The true witness delivers souls, but the deceitful one speaks lies.

26 E n el temor del Señor hay confianza segura, y a los hijos dará refugio.

¶ In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence, and there his sons shall have hope.

27 E l temor del Señor es fuente de vida, para evadir los lazos de la muerte.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

28 E n la multitud del pueblo está la gloria del rey, pero en la falta de pueblo está la ruina del príncipe.

¶ In the multitude of the people is the king’s glory, but in the failure of the people is the weakness of the prince.

29 E l lento para la ira tiene gran prudencia, pero el que es irascible ensalza la necedad.

¶ He that is slow to wrath is of great intelligence, but he that is short of spirit exalts folly.

30 U n corazón apacible es vida para el cuerpo, mas las pasiones son podredumbre de los huesos.

¶ A sound heart is life to the flesh, but envy is rottenness of the bones.

31 E l que oprime al pobre afrenta a su Hacedor, pero el que se apiada del necesitado le honra.

¶ He that oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, but he that has mercy on the poor, honours him.

32 E l impío es derribado por su maldad, pero el justo tiene un refugio cuando muere.

¶ For his wickedness shall the wicked be cast out, but the righteous in his death has hope.

33 E n el corazón del prudente reposa la sabiduría, pero en medio de los necios no se da a conocer.

¶ Wisdom shall rest in the heart of him that is sane and is made known in the midst of the fools.

34 L a justicia engrandece a la nación, pero el pecado es afrenta para los pueblos.

¶ Righteousness exalts a people, but sin is a reproach to the nations.

35 E l favor del rey es para el siervo que obra sabiamente, mas su enojo es contra el que obra vergonzosamente.

¶ The king’s favour is toward the wise slave, but his wrath is against him that causes shame.
