1 Y sucedió que en el año séptimo, el día diez del quinto mes, vinieron algunos de los ancianos de Israel a consultar al Señor, y se sentaron delante de mí.

¶ And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the LORD and sat before me.

2 Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:

Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,

3 H ijo de hombre, habla a los ancianos de Israel y diles: “Así dice el Señor Dios: ‘¿Venís a consultarme? Vivo yo, que no me dejaré consultar por vosotros ’” —declara el Señor Dios.

Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel and say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, said the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.

4 ¿ Los juzgarás? ¿ Los juzgarás, hijo de hombre? Hazles saber las abominaciones de sus padres,

Dost thou desire to judge them? Dost thou desire to judge them, son of man? Notify them of the abominations of their fathers:

5 y diles: “Así dice el Señor Dios: ‘El día que escogí a Israel y juré a los descendientes de la casa de Jacob, me di a conocer a ellos en la tierra de Egipto, y les juré diciendo: Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios;

¶ And say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said; In the day when I chose Israel and lifted up my hand for the seed of the house of Jacob and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt when I lifted up my hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;

6 a quel día les juré que los sacaría de la tierra de Egipto a una tierra que yo había escogido para ellos, que mana leche y miel y que es la más hermosa de todas las tierras.

in the day that I lifted up my hand unto them with an oath that I would bring them forth from the land of Egypt into a land that I had prepared for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the most beautiful of all lands,

7 ‘ Y les dije: “Arroje cada uno las cosas detestables que os atraen, y no os contaminéis con los ídolos de Egipto; yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios.”

then said I unto them, Cast away each one of you all worship of god fabricated by carnal appearance and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

8 ‘ Pero se rebelaron contra mí y no quisieron escucharme; no arrojaron las cosas detestables que les atraían, ni abandonaron los ídolos de Egipto. Entonces decidí derramar mi furor sobre ellos, para desahogar contra ellos mi ira en medio de la tierra de Egipto.

But they rebelled against me and did not desire to hearken unto me; each one did not cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt; then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

9 ‘ Pero actué en consideración a mi nombre, para que no fuera profanado ante los ojos de las naciones en medio de las cuales vivían, y a cuya vista me había dado a conocer sacándolos de la tierra de Egipto.

With all this, I intervened for my name’s sake that it should not be polluted before the Gentiles, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

10 ‘ Los saqué, pues, de la tierra de Egipto y los llevé al desierto.

¶ Therefore I took them out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness;

11 ‘ Les di mis estatutos y les hice conocer mis decretos, por los cuales el hombre vivirá si los cumple.

and I gave them my statutes and declared unto them my rights, by which the man that does them shall live by them.

12 ‘ También les di mis días de reposo por señal entre ellos y yo, para que supieran que yo soy el Señor, el que los santifica.

And I also gave them my sabbaths to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctifies them.

13 ‘ Pero la casa de Israel se rebeló contra mí en el desierto; no anduvieron en mis estatutos y desecharon mis decretos, por los cuales el hombre que los cumple vivirá, y mis días de reposo profanaron en gran manera. Entonces decidí derramar mi furor sobre ellos en el desierto, para exterminarlos.

But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they did not walk in my statutes, and they despised my rights, by which the man that does them shall live by them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted; therefore I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness to consume them.

14 ‘ Pero actué en consideración a mi nombre, para que no fuera profanado ante los ojos de las naciones a cuya vista los había sacado.

But I intervened for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the Gentiles, in whose sight I brought them out.

15 ‘ También les juré en el desierto que no los llevaría a la tierra que les había dado, que mana leche y miel y que es la más hermosa de todas las tierras,

Yet I also lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, with an oath that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the most beautiful of all lands,

16 p orque desecharon mis decretos, no anduvieron en mis estatutos y profanaron mis días de reposo, porque su corazón se iba tras sus ídolos.

because they despised my rights and did not walk in my statutes but polluted my Sabbaths, for their heart went after their idols.

17 ‘ Sin embargo, mi ojo los perdonó para no destruirlos, y no los hice exterminar en el desierto.

With all this, my eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.

18 ‘ Y dije a sus hijos en el desierto: “No andéis en los estatutos de vuestros padres, ni guardéis sus decretos, ni os contaminéis con sus ídolos.

But I said unto their sons in the wilderness: Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, neither keep their laws, nor defile yourselves with their idols:

19 “ Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios; andad en mis estatutos, guardad mis decretos y ponedlos por obra.

I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my rights, and do them;

20 “ Y santificad mis días de reposo; y que sean una señal entre yo y vosotros, para que sepáis que yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios.”

and hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

21 ‘ Pero los hijos se rebelaron contra mí, no anduvieron en mis estatutos, ni tuvieron cuidado de cumplir mis decretos, por los cuales el hombre que los cumple vivirá, y profanaron mis días de reposo. Entonces decidí derramar mi furor sobre ellos, para desahogar contra ellos mi ira en el desierto.

Notwithstanding, the sons rebelled against me: they did not walk in my statutes, nor keep my rights to do them, by which the man that does them shall live by them; they polluted my Sabbaths; then I said: I would pour out my fury upon them to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

22 ‘ Pero retiré mi mano y actué en consideración a mi nombre, para que no fuera profanado ante los ojos de las naciones a cuya vista los había sacado.

Nevertheless, I withdrew my hand and intervened for my name’s sake that it should not be polluted in the sight of the Gentiles in whose sight I brought them forth.

23 ‘ También yo les juré en el desierto que los dispersaría entre las naciones y los esparciría por las tierras,

I lifted up my hand unto them also in the wilderness with an oath that I would scatter them among the Gentiles and disperse them through the countries

24 p orque no habían cumplido mis decretos, habían desechado mis estatutos y habían profanado mis días de reposo, y tras los ídolos de sus padres se iban sus ojos.

because they had not executed my rights and had despised my statutes and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols.

25 ‘ También les di estatutos que no eran buenos y decretos por los cuales no podrían vivir;

For this reason I also gave them statutes that were not good and rights by which they could not live,

26 y los declaré inmundos en sus ofrendas, pues hicieron pasar por el fuego a todos sus primogénitos, a fin de llenarlos de terror, para que supieran que yo soy el Señor.’”

and I polluted them in their offerings when they caused to pass through the fire all that opens the womb that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.

27 P or tanto, hijo de hombre, habla a la casa de Israel, y diles: “Así dice el Señor Dios: ‘Aun en esto me han blasfemado vuestros padres actuando deslealmente contra mí.

¶ Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel and say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Even in this your fathers have blasphemed me when they committed rebellion against me.

28 ‘ Cuando los traje a la tierra que había jurado darles, miraron a toda colina alta y todo árbol frondoso, y allí ofrecieron sus sacrificios y allí presentaron sus ofrendas provocativas; allí presentaron también su aroma agradable y allí derramaron sus libaciones.

For when I had brought them into the land, for which I lifted up my hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offerings; there also they made their sweet savour and poured out there their drink offerings.

29 ‘ Entonces les dije: “¿Qué es el lugar alto adonde vais?” Y se le dio el nombre de Bama hasta el día de hoy.’”

Then I said unto them, What is the high place unto which ye go? And its name is called Bamah unto this day.

30 P or tanto, di a la casa de Israel: “Así dice el Señor Dios: ‘¿Os contaminaréis a la manera de vuestros padres y os prostituiréis tras sus abominaciones?

Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Perchance are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and do ye commit whoredom after their abominations?

31 ‘ Cuando ofrecéis vuestras ofrendas, cuando hacéis pasar por el fuego a vuestros hijos, os contamináis con todos vuestros ídolos hasta el día de hoy. ¿Y me dejaré consultar yo por vosotros, casa de Israel? Vivo yo’ —declara el Señor Dios — ‘que no me dejaré consultar por vosotros.

For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day; and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, said the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.

32 ‘ Y no sucederá lo que estáis pensando, cuando decís: “Seremos como las naciones, como las tribus de otras tierras, que sirven a la madera y a la piedra.”

And that which ye think shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the Gentiles, as the families of the nations to serve wood and stone.

33 ‘ Vivo yo’ —declara el Señor Dios — ‘que con mano fuerte, con brazo extendido y con furor derramado yo seré rey sobre vosotros.

¶ As I live, said the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand and with a stretched out arm and with fury poured out, I must rule over you:

34 ‘ Y os sacaré de entre los pueblos y os reuniré de las tierras donde estáis dispersos con mano fuerte, con brazo extendido y con furor derramado;

and I will bring you out from among the peoples and will gather you out of the countries in which ye are scattered with a mighty hand and with a stretched out arm and with fury poured out.

35 y os llevaré al desierto de los pueblos y allí entraré en juicio con vosotros cara a cara.

And I will bring you into the wilderness of peoples, and there I will litigate with you face to face.

36 ‘ Como entré en juicio con vuestros padres en el desierto de la tierra de Egipto, así entraré en juicio con vosotros ’ —declara el Señor Dios.

Like as I litigated with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will litigate with you, said the Lord GOD.

37 ‘ Y os haré pasar bajo la vara y os haré entrar en el vínculo del pacto;

And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

38 y separaré de vosotros a los rebeldes, a los que han transgredido contra mí; y los sacaré de la tierra donde peregrinan, pero no entrarán en la tierra de Israel. Y sabréis que yo soy el Señor.

and I will purge out from among you the rebels and those that rebelled against me; I will take them out of the country where they have gone, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

39 ‘ En cuanto a vosotros, casa de Israel’ —así dice el Señor Dios — ‘vaya cada uno a servir a sus ídolos; pero más tarde ciertamente me escucharéis y no profanaréis más mi santo nombre con vuestras ofrendas y con vuestros ídolos.

As for you, O house of Israel, thus hath the Lord GOD said: Go, serve ye each one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me, but do not pollute my holy name any longer with your gifts and with your idols.

40 ‘ Porque en mi santo monte, en el alto monte de Israel’ —declara el Señor Dios — ‘allí me servirá toda la casa de Israel, toda ella, en esta tierra; allí los aceptaré y allí reclamaré vuestras ofrendas y las primicias de vuestros dones con todas vuestras cosas sagradas.

For in the mountain of my holiness, in the high mountain of Israel, said the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel serve me, all of them in the land; there will I be pleased with them, and there will I require your offerings and the firstfruits of your gifts with all your sacred things.

41 ‘ Como aroma agradable os aceptaré, cuando os haya sacado de entre los pueblos y os haya recogido de las tierras donde estáis dispersos; y mostraré mi santidad entre vosotros a la vista de las naciones.

I will accept you with your sweet savour when I have brought you out from among the peoples and gathered you out of the countries in which ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you in the eyes of the Gentiles.

42 ‘ Y sabréis que yo soy el Señor, cuando os traiga a la tierra de Israel, a la tierra que juré dar a vuestros padres.

And ye shall know that I am the LORD when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the land for which I lifted up my hand to give it to your fathers.

43 ‘ Allí os acordaréis de vuestros caminos y de todas vuestras obras con las que os habéis contaminado, y os aborreceréis a vosotros mismos por todas las iniquidades que habéis cometido.

And there ye shall remember your ways and all your doings, in which ye have been defiled; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.

44 ‘ Y sabréis que yo soy el Señor, cuando actúe con vosotros en consideración a mi nombre, y no conforme a vuestros malos caminos ni conforme a vuestras perversas obras, casa de Israel’” —declara el Señor Dios.

And ye shall know that I am the LORD when I have intervened with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, said the Lord GOD.

45 Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:

¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

46 H ijo de hombre, pon tu rostro hacia Teman y habla contra el sur, profetiza contra el bosque del Neguev,

Son of man, set thy face toward the south and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field;

47 y di al bosque del Neguev: “Oye la palabra del Señor. Así dice el Señor Dios: ‘He aquí, voy a prenderte un fuego que consumirá en ti todo árbol verde y todo árbol seco; no se apagará la llama abrasadora, y será quemada por ella toda la superficie, desde el sur hasta el norte.

and thou shalt say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD. Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Behold, I kindle a fire in thee, which shall devour every green tree in thee and every dry tree; the flame of the fire shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.

48 ‘ Y toda carne verá que yo, el Señor, lo he encendido; no se apagará.’”

And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it; it shall not be quenched.

49 E ntonces dije: ¡Ah, Señor Dios! Ellos dicen de mí: “¿No habla éste más que parábolas ?”

Then I said, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Does he not speak parables?
