1 « Di Davide. Cantico» Beato colui la cui trasgressione è perdonata, il cui peccato è coperto!

¶ Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2 B eato l'uomo a cui l'Eterno non imputa l'iniquità, e nel cui spirito non c'è inganno.

Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD does not impute iniquity and in whose spirit there is no guile.

3 M entre tacevo, le mie ossa si consumavano tra i gemiti che facevo tutto il giorno.

When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.

4 P oiché giorno e notte la tua mano pesava su di me, il mio vigore era diventato simile all'arsura d'estate. (Sela)

For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my green growth is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

5 D avanti a te ho riconosciuto il mio peccato, non ho coperto la mia iniquità. Ho detto: «Confesserò le mie trasgressioni all'Eterno», e tu hai perdonato l'iniquità del mio peccato. (Sela)

I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and I have not hid my iniquity. I said, I will confess (against myself) my rebellions unto the LORD, and thou shalt forgive the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

6 P erciò ogni uomo pio t'invocherà nel tempo che puoi essere trovato, anche se le grandi acque dovessero straripare, esse non giungeranno fino a lui.

For this shall every one that is merciful pray unto thee in the time when thou may be found; surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come near unto him.

7 T u sei il mio luogo di rifugio, tu mi preserverai dall'avversità, tu mi circonderai di canti di liberazione. (Sela)

¶ Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

8 t i ammaestrerò e ti insegnerò la via per la quale devi camminare; io ti consiglierò e avrò il mio occhio su di te.

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will fix mine eyes upon thee.

9 N on siate come il cavallo e come il mulo che non hanno intelletto, e la cui bocca bisogna frenare con morso e con briglia, altrimenti non ti si avvicinano.

Be ye not as the horse or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in subjection with bit and bridle, or they will not come near unto thee.

10 M olti sono i dolori dell'empio, ma chi confida nell'Eterno sarà circondato dalla sua benignità.

There are many sorrows for the wicked; but he that waits in the LORD, mercy shall compass him round about.

11 R allegratevi nell'Eterno ed esultate, o giusti; mandate grida di gioia voi tutti, retti di cuore.

Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, ye righteous, and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
