1 P er ogni cosa c'è la sua stagione c'è un tempo per ogni situazione sotto il cielo:

¶ For all things there is a season, and every will under the heaven has its time determined.

2 u n tempo per nascere e un tempo per morire, un tempo per piantare e un tempo per sradicare ciò che è piantato,

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3 u n tempo per uccidere e un tempo per guarire, un tempo per demolire e un tempo per costruire,

a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4 u n tempo per piangere e un tempo per ridere, un tempo per far cordoglio e un tempo per danzare,

a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5 u n tempo per gettare via pietre e un tempo per raccogliere pietre, un tempo per abbracciare e un tempo per astenersi dagli abbracci,

a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6 u n tempo per cercare e un tempo per perdere, un tempo per conservare e un tempo per buttare via,

a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7 u n tempo per strappare e un tempo per cucire, un tempo per tacere e un tempo per parlare,

a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8 u n tempo per amare e un tempo per odiare, un tempo per la guerra e un tempo per la pace.

a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

9 C he vantaggio ha chi lavora da tutto ciò in cui si affatica?

What profit does the one that works have in that in which he labours?

10 H o visto l'occupazione che DIO dà ai figli degli uomini, perché vi si affatichino.

I have seen the travail which God has given to the sons of men that they may be occupied in it.

11 E gli ha fatto ogni cosa bella nel suo tempo; ha persino messo l'eternità nei loro cuori, senza che alcun uomo possa scoprire l'opera che DIO ha fatto dal principio alla fine.

¶ He has made every thing beautiful in his time: even the world he has given over to their will, in such a way that no man can attain to this work that God makes from the beginning to the end.

12 H o cosí compreso che non c'è nulla di meglio che rallegrarsi e far del bene mentre uno vive;

I have learned that there is nothing better for them, but to rejoice and to do good in his life.

13 e che ogni uomo che mangia, beve a e gode benessere in tutta la sua fatica, questo è un dono di DIO.

And also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labour; it is the gift of God.

14 H o compreso che tutto quello che Dio fa è per sempre; non vi si può aggiungere nulla e nulla vi si può togliere e DIO fa cosí, perché gli uomini lo temano.

I have understood that whatever God does, it shall be for ever; nothing can be added to it, nor any thing taken from it because God does it that men should fear before him.

15 C iò che è, è già stato prima, e ciò che sarà è già stato, e DIO investiga ciò che è passato.

That which has been is now, and that which is to be has already been and God shall seek that which is past.

16 H o pure visto sotto il sole che al posto del giudizio c'era empietà, e al posto della giustizia c'era empietà.

¶ And moreover I saw under the sun that instead of judgment, there was wickedness; and instead of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

17 C osí ho detto in cuor mio: «DIO giudicherà il giusto e l'empio, perché c'è un tempo stabilito per ogni cosa e per ogni opera».

I said in my heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked; for there is a time determined to judge every will and regarding everything that is done.

18 H o detto in cuor mio: «Riguardo alla condizione dei figli degli uomini, DIO li mette alla prova, perché essi stessi si rendano conto che sono come bestie».

I said in my heart concerning the estate of the sons of men that God might manifest them and that they might see that they themselves are beasts one to another.

19 I nfatti tutto ciò che succede ai figli degli uomini succede alle bestie; ad entrambi succede la stessa cosa. Come muore l'uno, cosí muore l'altra. Sí, hanno tutti uno stesso soffio; e l'uomo non ha alcuna superiorità sulla bestia perché tutto è vanità.

For that which befalls the sons of men befalls beasts; even one thing befalls them: as the one dies, so dies the other; and they all have one breath; so that a man has no more breath than a beast: for all is vanity.

20 T utti vanno nello stesso luogo: tutti vengono dalla polvere e tutti ritornano alla polvere.

All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all shall turn to dust again.

21 C hi sa se lo spirito dei figli degli uomini, sale in alto, e se lo spirito della bestia scende in basso nella terra?

Who knows that the spirit of the sons of men goes upward and that the spirit of the beast goes downward to the earth?

22 C osí mi sono reso conto che non c'è nulla di meglio per l'uomo che rallegrarsi nel suo lavoro, perché questa è la sua parte. Chi lo porterà infatti a vedere ciò che accadrà dopo di lui?

Therefore I perceive that there is nothing better than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion; for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
