1 Q uesta è la discendenza dei figli di Noè: Sam, Cam e Jafet; dopo il diluvio a loro nacquero dei figli.

¶ Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and unto them were born sons after the flood.

2 I figli di Jafet furono: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Mescek e Tiras.

The sons of Japheth: Gomer and Magog and Madai and Javan and Tubal and Meshech and Tiras.

3 I figli di Gomer: Ashkenaz, Rifath e Togarmah.

And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz and Riphath and Togarmah.

4 I figli di Javan: Elisham, Tarshish, Kittim e Dodanim.

And the sons of Javan: Elishah and Tarshish, Kittim and Dodanim.

5 D a essi vennero i popoli sparsi nelle isole delle nazioni, nei loro diversi paesi, ciascuno secondo la propria lingua, secondo le loro famiglie, nelle loro nazioni.

By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands, each one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

6 I figli di Cam furono: Kush, Mitsraim, Put e Canaan.

¶ And the sons of Ham: Cush and Mizraim and Phut and Canaan.

7 I figli di Kush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah e Sabtekah; e i figli di Raamah: Sceba e Dedan.

And the sons of Cush: Seba and Havilah and Sabtah and Raamah and Sabtecha. And the sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.

8 K ush generò Nimrod, che cominciò a essere un uomo potente sulla terra.

And Cush begat Nimrod. He began to be powerful in the earth.

9 E gli fu un potente cacciatore davanti all'Eterno; perciò si dice: «Come Nimrod, il potente cacciatore davanti all'Eterno».

He was a powerful hunter before the LORD; therefore it is said, Even as Nimrod, the powerful hunter before the LORD.

10 E l'inizio del suo regno fu Babel, Erek, Akkad e Kalmeh nel paese di Scinar.

And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel and Erech and Accad and Calneh in the land of Shinar.

11 D a quel paese andò in Assiria e costruì Ninive, Rehoboth-Ir e Kalah;

Out of that land went forth Asshur, who built Nineveh and the city Rehoboth and Calah

12 f ra Ninive e Kalah costruì Resen (che è la grande città).

and Resen between Nineveh and Calah; the same is a great city.

13 M itsraim generò i Ludim, gli Ananim, i Lehabim, i Nuftuhim,

And Mizraim begat Ludim and Anamim and Lehabim and Naphtuhim

14 i Pathrusim, i Casluhim (da cui uscirono i Filistei) e i Caftorim.

and Pathrusim and Casluhim (out of whom came the Philistines) and Caphtorim.

15 C anaan generò Sidon, suo primogenito, e Het,

¶ And Canaan begat Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth

16 e i Gebusei, gli Amorei, i Ghirgasei,

and Jebusite and Amorite and Girgasite

17 g li Hivvei, gli Archei, i Sinei,

and Hivite and Arkite and Sinite

18 g li Arvadei, i Tsemarei e gli Hamathei. Poi le famiglie dei Cananei si dispersero.

and Arvadite and Zemarite and Hamathite; and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

19 E i confini dei Cananei andarono da Sidon, in direzione di Gherar, fino a Gaza; e in direzione di Sodoma, Gomorra, Adma e Tseboim, fino a Lesha.

And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar unto Gaza, as thou goest, unto Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

20 Q uesti sono i figli di Cam, secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le loro lingue, nei loro paesi, nelle loro nazioni.

These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

21 A nche a Sem, padre di tutti i figli di Eber e fratello di Jafet, il maggiore, nacquero dei figli.

¶ Unto Shem also, the father of all the sons of Eber, the elder brother of Japheth, even to him were sons born.

22 I figli di Sem furono: Elam, Assur, Arpakshad, Lud e Aram.

The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.

23 I figli di Aram: Uz, Hul, Ghether e Mash.

And the sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.

24 A rpakshad generò Scelah, e Scelah generò Eber.

And Arphaxad begat Salah, and Salah begat Eber.

25 A d Eber nacquero due figli; il nome dell'uno fu Peleg, perché ai suoi giorni la terra fu divisa, e il nome di suo fratello fu Joktan.

And unto Eber were born two sons; the name of one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.

26 J oktan generò Almodad, Scelef, Hatsarmaveth, Jerah,

And Joktan begat Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

27 H adoram, Uzal, Diklah,

Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,

28 O bal, Abimael, Sceba,

Obal, Abimael, Sheba,

29 O fir, Havilah e Jobab. Tutti questi furono figli di Joktan.

Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan.

30 E la loro dimora fu la montagna orientale, da Mesha, fin verso Sefar.

And their dwelling was from Mesha as thou goest unto Sephar, mount of the east.

31 Q uesti sono i figli di Sem, secondo le loro famiglie, secondo le loro lingue, nei loro paesi, secondo le loro nazioni.

These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.

32 Q ueste sono le famiglie dei figli di Noè, secondo le loro generazioni nelle loro nazioni; e da essi uscirono le nazioni che si sparsero per la terra dopo il diluvio.

These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their descendants, in their nations; and by these were the Gentiles divided in the earth after the flood.
