¶ My heart is overflowing with a good word; I speak of the things which I have done concerning the king; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

2 T u sei piú bello di tutti i figli degli uomini; le tue labbra sono ripiene di grazia perciò DIO ti ha benedetto in eterno.

Thou art fairer than the sons of men, grace is poured into thy lips; therefore God has blessed thee for ever.

3 C ingi la spada al tuo fianco, o prode circondato dal tuo splendore e dalla tua maestà,

Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most valiant, with thy glory and thy majesty.

4 e nella tua maestà avanza sul carro vittorioso per la causa della verità, della mansuetudine e della giustizia, e la tua destra ti farà vedere opere tremende.

And in thy majesty be prospered; ride upon the word of truth and of humility and of righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

5 L e tue frecce sono affilate; i popoli cadranno sotto di te; esse penetreranno nel cuore dei nemici del re.

Thine arrows, by which the peoples fall under thee, penetrate the heart of the enemies of the king.

6 I l tuo trono, o DIO, dura in eterno; lo scettro del tuo regno è uno scettro di giustizia.

¶ Thy throne, O God, is eternal and for ever, the rod of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

7 T u ami la giustizia e odi l'empietà; perciò DIO, il tuo DIO, ti ha unto d'olio di letizia al di sopra dei tuoi compagni.

Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness; therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

8 T utte le tue vesti profumano di mirra, d'aloe, e di cassia; dai palazzi d'avorio gli strumenti a corda ti rallegrano.

All thy garments smell of myrrh and aloes and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made thee glad.

9 F iglie di re sono fra le tue dame d'onore, alla tua destra è la regina, adorna d'oro di Ofir.

Kings’ daughters were among thy honourable women; the queen stands at thy right hand with a crown of gold from Ophir.

10 A scolta, fanciulla, guarda e porgi l'orecchio; dimentica il tuo popolo e la casa di tuo padre,

¶ Hearken, O daughter, and consider and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father’s house;

11 e il re desidererà grandemente la tua bellezza; prostrati davanti a lui, perché egli è il tuo Signore.

so shall the king greatly desire thy beauty; and bow before him, for he is thy Lord.

12 L a figlia di Tiro ti porterà dei doni, e i ricchi del popolo cercheranno i tuoi favori

And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.

13 T utta splendore è la figlia del re di dentro; la sua veste è tutta trapunta d'oro.

The king’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

14 E lla sarà condotta al re in vesti ricamate, seguita dalle vergini sue compagne, che saranno presentate a te.

She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework; the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.

15 E sse saranno condotte con letizia e con giubilo, ed entreranno nel palazzo del re.

With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought; they shall enter into the king’s palace.

16 I tuoi figli prenderanno il posto dei tuoi padri; tu li farai principi per tutta la terra.

Instead of thy fathers shall be thy sons, whom thou shalt make princes in all the earth.

17 p ubblicherò la memoria del tuo nome per ogni età; perciò i popoli ti celebreranno in eterno, per sempre.

I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations; therefore shall the people praise thee eternally and for ever.
