4 H o detto agli orgogliosi: «Non vi vantate!», e agli empi: «Non alzate la cresta!

I said unto the fools, Do not deal foolishly and to the wicked, Do not lift up the horn:

5 N on alzate la vostra cresta in alto non parlate con il collo duro».

Do not lift up your horn on high; speak not with a stiff neck.

6 P oiché non è dal levante né dal ponente e neppure dal deserto che viene l'esaltazione.

¶ For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the desert.

7 M a è DIO colui che giudica, egli abbassa l'uno e innalza l'altro.

But God is the judge; he puts down one and sets up another.

8 P oiché l'Eterno ha in mano una coppa di vino spumeggiante pieno di spezie, ed egli ne mesce. Certamente tutti gli empi della terra ne scoleranno e berranno le fecce.

For the cup is in the hand of the LORD, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he pours out of the same; yea, the dregs thereof, shall wring out and swallow up all the wicked of the earth.

9 M a io proclamerò per sempre e canterò le lodi al DIO di Giacobbe.

But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10 E stroncherò tutta la potenza degli empi, ma la potenza dei giusti sarà esaltata.

And I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
