1 « Canto dei pellegrinaggi.» Da luoghi profondi io grido a te, o Eterno.

¶ Out of the depths I cry unto thee, O LORD.

2 O Signore, ascolta il mio grido; siano le tue orecchie attente alla voce delle mie suppliche.

Lord, hear my voice; let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

3 S e tu dovessi tener conto delle colpe, o Eterno, chi potrebbe resistere, o Signore?

If thou, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall endure?

4 M a presso di te vi è perdono, affinché tu sia temuto.

Therefore there is forgiveness close to thee, that thou may be feared.

5 I o aspetto l'Eterno, l'anima mia l'aspetta; io spero nella sua parola.

¶ I have waited for the LORD, my soul has waited, and for his word I have waited.

6 L 'anima mia attende il Signore, piú che le guardie il mattino, sì piú che le guardie il mattino.

My soul has waited for the Lord more than those that watch for the morning: I say, more than those that watch for the morning.

7 O Israele, spera nell'Eterno, perché presso l'Eterno vi è misericordia e presso di lui vi è redenzione completa.

Let Israel wait for the LORD; for with the LORD there is mercy and plenteous redemption close to him.

8 E gli redimerà Israele da tutte le sue iniquità.

And he shall ransom Israel from all his sins.
