1 « Voi siete i figli dell'Eterno, il vostro DIO; non vi farete incisioni e non vi raderete tra gli occhi per un morto;

¶ Ye are the sons of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves nor make any baldness over your eyes for the dead.

2 p oiché tu sei un popolo santo all'Eterno, il tuo DIO, e l'Eterno ti ha scelto per essere un popolo suo, un tesoro particolare fra tutti i popoli che sono sulla faccia della terra.

For thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD has chosen thee to be a unique people unto himself from among all the peoples that are upon the face of the earth.

3 N on mangerai cosa alcuna abominevole.

Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

4 Q uesti sono gli animali che potete mangiare: il bue, la pecora, la capra,

These are the animals which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,

5 i l cervo, la gazzella, il daino, lo stambecco, l'antilope, il capriolo e il camoscio.

the hart and the roebuck and the buffalo and the wild goat and the unicorn (rhinoceros) and the wild ox and the mountain goat,

6 P otete mangiare ogni animale che ha lo zoccolo spaccato e il piede diviso e che rumina tra gli animali.

and every animal that parts the hoof and cleaves the cleft into two claws and chews the cud among the beasts that ye shall eat.

7 M a di quelli che ruminano soltanto o che hanno soltanto lo zoccolo spaccato o il piede diviso non mangerete il cammello, la lepre e il tasso, che ruminano ma non hanno lo zoccolo spaccato; per voi sono impuri;

Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of those that chew the cud or of those that divide the cloven hoof: the camel and the hare and the coney, for they chew the cud, but do not divide the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you;

8 a nche il porco, che ha lo zoccolo spaccato ma non rumina, è impuro per voi. Non mangerete la loro carne e non toccherete i loro corpi morti.

and the swine, because it divides the hoof, yet does not chew the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh nor touch their dead carcase.

9 F ra tutti gli animali che vivono nelle acque, potete mangiare tutti quelli che hanno pinne e squame;

These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat,

10 m a non mangerete alcuno di quelli che non hanno pinne e squame; sono impuri per voi.

but whatever does not have fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.

11 P otete mangiare ogni uccello puro;

Of all clean birds ye shall eat.

12 m a non mangerete questi: l'aquila, l'ossifraga, il falco di mare,

But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle and the ossifrage and the ospray

13 I l nibbio, il falco e ogni specie di avvoltoi,

and the glede and the kite and the vulture after his kind

14 o gni specie di corvi,

and every raven after his kind

15 l o struzzo, il barbagianni, il gabbiano e ogni specie di sparvieri,

and the owl and the night hawk and the cuckow and the hawk after his kind

16 I l gufo, l'ibis, il cigno,

the little owl and the great owl and the swan

17 i l pellicano, il martin pescatore, il cormorano,

and the pelican and the gier eagle and the cormorant

18 l a cicogna, ogni specie di aironi, l'upupa e il pipistrello.

and the stork and the heron after her kind and the lapwing and the bat.

19 O gni insetto che vola è impuro per voi; non ne mangerete.

And every serpent that flies shall be unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten.

20 P otete invece mangiare ogni uccello puro.

But of all clean fowls ye may eat.

21 N on mangerete alcuna bestia morta di morte naturale; la puoi dare allo straniero che è entro le tue porte perché la mangi o la puoi vendere a un estraneo, perché tu sei un popolo consacrato all'Eterno, il tuo DIO. Non farai cuocere il capretto nel latte di sua madre.

Ye shall not eat of any thing that died of itself; thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates that he may eat it, or thou may sell it unto an alien; for thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not cook a kid in his mother’s milk.

22 T i impegnerai a dar la decima di tutto ciò che semini e che il campo produce ogni anno.

¶ Thou shalt without fail tithe all the increase of thy seed that thy field brings forth each year.

23 M angerai davanti all'Eterno, il tuo DIO, nel luogo che egli ha scelto per farvi dimorare il suo nome, la decima del tuo frumento, del tuo mosto, del tuo olio, e i primogeniti delle tue mandrie e delle tue greggi, affinché tu impari a temere sempre l'Eterno, il tuo DIO.

And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose for his name to dwell, the tithe of thy grain, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstborn of thy cows and of thy sheep, that thou may learn to fear the LORD thy God always.

24 M a se il cammino è troppo lungo per te e tu non puoi portare le decime fino là, perché il luogo che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ha scelto per stabilirvi il suo nome è troppo lontano da te, quando l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti avrà benedetto,

And if the way is too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, or if the place is too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God has blessed thee,

25 a llora le convertirai in denaro e con il denaro in mano andrai al luogo che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ha scelto,

then shalt thou sell it for money and bind up the money in thy hand and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose;

26 e userai quel denaro per comprare tutto ciò che il tuo cuore desidera: buoi, pecore, vino, bevande inebrianti, o qualunque cosa il tuo cuore desidera; e là mangerai davanti all'Eterno, il tuo DIO, e gioirai, tu con la tua famiglia.

and thou shalt give that money for whatever thy soul desires, for cows or for sheep or for wine or for strong drink or for whatever thy soul desires; and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou and thine household.

27 I noltre non trascurerai il Levita che abita entro le tue porte, perché non ha parte né eredità con te.

And thou shalt not forsake the Levite that dwells within thy gates, for he has no part nor inheritance with thee.

28 A lla fine di ogni tre anni, metterai da parte tutte le decime dei tuoi prodotti del terzo anno, e le riporrai entro le tue porte;

At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year and shalt lay it up within thy gates.

29 e il Levita, che non ha parte né eredità con te, e lo straniero e l'orfano e la vedova che si trovano entro le tue porte verranno, mangeranno e si sazieranno, affinché l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti benedica in ogni lavoro a cui metterai mano».

And the Levite, who has no part nor inheritance with thee, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within thy gates, shall come and shall eat and be satisfied, that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hands which thou doest.
