¶ Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and unto them were born sons after the flood.

2 C on trai của Gia-phết là Gô-me, Ma-gốc, Ma-đai, Gia-van, Tu-banh, Mê-siếc, và Ti-ra.

The sons of Japheth: Gomer and Magog and Madai and Javan and Tubal and Meshech and Tiras.

3 C on trai của Gô-me là Ách-kê-na, Ri-phát, và Tô-ga-ma.

And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz and Riphath and Togarmah.

4 C on trai của Gia-van là Ê-li-sa và Ta-rê-si, Kít-sim và Đô-đa-nim.

And the sons of Javan: Elishah and Tarshish, Kittim and Dodanim.

5 D o họ mà có người ta ở tràn ra các cù lao của các dân, tùy theo xứ, tiếng nói, chi phái và dân tộc của họ mà chia ra.

By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands, each one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

6 C on trai của Cham là Cúc, Mích-ra-im, Phút và Ca-na-an.

¶ And the sons of Ham: Cush and Mizraim and Phut and Canaan.

7 C on trai của Cúc là Sê-ba, Ha-vi-la, Sáp-ta, Ra-ê-ma và Sáp-tê-ca; con trai của Ra-ê-ma là Sê-la và Đê-đan.

And the sons of Cush: Seba and Havilah and Sabtah and Raamah and Sabtecha. And the sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.

8 C úc sanh Nim-rốt, ấy là người bắt đầu làm anh hùng trên mặt đất.

And Cush begat Nimrod. He began to be powerful in the earth.

9 N gười là một tay thợ săn can đảm trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va. Bởi cớ đó, có tục ngữ rằng: Hệt như Nim-rốt, một tay thợ săn can đảm trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va!

He was a powerful hunter before the LORD; therefore it is said, Even as Nimrod, the powerful hunter before the LORD.

10 N ước người sơ-lập là Ba-bên, Ê-rết, A-cát và Ca-ne ở tại xứ Si-nê -a.

And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel and Erech and Accad and Calneh in the land of Shinar.

11 T ừ xứ đó người đến xứ A-si-ri, rồi lập thành Ni-ni-ve, Rê-hô-bô-ti, Ca-lách,

Out of that land went forth Asshur, who built Nineveh and the city Rehoboth and Calah

12 V à thành Rê-sen, là thành rất lớn, ở giữa khoảng thành Ni-ni-ve và Ca-lách.

and Resen between Nineveh and Calah; the same is a great city.

13 M ích-ra-im sanh họ Lu-đim, họ A-na-mim, họ Lê-ha-bim, họ Náp-tu-him,

And Mizraim begat Ludim and Anamim and Lehabim and Naphtuhim

14 h ọ Bát-ru-sim, họ Cách-lu-him (bởi đó sanh họ Phi-li-tin), và họ Cáp-tô-rim.

and Pathrusim and Casluhim (out of whom came the Philistines) and Caphtorim.

15 C a-na-an sanh Si-đôn, là con trưởng nam, và Hếch,

¶ And Canaan begat Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth

16 c ùng họ Giê-bu-sít, họ A-mô-rít, họ Ghi-rê-ga-sít,

and Jebusite and Amorite and Girgasite

17 h ọ Hê-vít, họ A-rê-kít, họ Si-nít,

and Hivite and Arkite and Sinite

18 h ọ A-va-đít, họ Xê-ma-rít, họ Ha-ma-tít. Kế đó, chi tộc Ca-na-an đi tản lạc.

and Arvadite and Zemarite and Hamathite; and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

19 C òn địa-phận Ca-na-an, về hướng Ghê-ra, chạy từ Si-đôn tới Ga-xa; về hướng Sô-đôm, Gô-mô-rơ, Át-ma và Sê-bô-im, chạy đến Lê-sa.

And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar unto Gaza, as thou goest, unto Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

20 Đ ó là con cháu của Cham, tùy theo họ hàng, tiếng nói, xứ và dân tộc của họ.

These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

21 S em, tổ phụ của họ Hê-be và anh cả của Gia-phết, cũng có sanh con trai.

¶ Unto Shem also, the father of all the sons of Eber, the elder brother of Japheth, even to him were sons born.

22 C on trai của Sem là Ê-lam, A-sự-rơ, A-bác-sát, Lút và A-ram.

The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.

23 C on trai của A-ram là U-xơ, Hu-lơ, Ghê-te và Mách.

And the sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.

24 C òn A-bác-sát sanh Sê-lách; Sê-lách sanh Hê-be,

And Arphaxad begat Salah, and Salah begat Eber.

25 H ê-be sanh được hai con trai; tên của một người là Bê-léc, vì đất trong đời người đó đã chia ra; trên của người em là Giốc-tan.

And unto Eber were born two sons; the name of one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.

26 G iốc-tan sanh A-mô-đát, Sê-lép, Ha-sa-ma-vết và Giê-rách,

And Joktan begat Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

27 H a-đô-ram, U-xa, Điếc-la,

Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,

28 Ô -banh, A-bi-ma-ên, Sê-ba,

Obal, Abimael, Sheba,

29 Ô -phia, Ha-vi-la và Giô-báp. Hết thảy các người đó là con trai của Giốc-tan.

Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan.

30 C õi đất của các người đó ở về phía Sê-pha, chạy từ Mê-sa cho đến núi Đông phương.

And their dwelling was from Mesha as thou goest unto Sephar, mount of the east.

31 Đ ó là con cháu của Sem, tùy theo họ hàng, tiếng nói, xứ và dân tộc của họ.

These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.

32 A áy là các họ hàng của ba con trai Nô-ê tùy theo đời và dân tộc của họ; lại cũng do nơi họ mà các dân chia ra trên mặt đất sau cơn nước lụt.

These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their descendants, in their nations; and by these were the Gentiles divided in the earth after the flood.
