1 K hi Y-sơ-ra-ên còn thơ ấy, ta yêu dấu nó; ta gọi con trai ta ra khỏi Ê-díp-tô.

¶ When Israel was a boy, I loved him and called my son out of Egypt.

2 C ác tiên tri càng gọi nó chừng nào, nó càng trốn tránh chừng nấy. Chúng nó đã dâng của lễ cho các tượng Ba-anh, và đốt hương cho tượng chạm.

As they called them, so they went from them; they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.

Even with all this I guided the feet of this same Ephraim, taking them by their arms; but they did not know that I cared for them.

4 T a đã dùng dây nhơn tình, dùng xích yêu thương kéo chúng nó đến. Ta đã như những kẻ cởi ách khỏi hàm chúng nó, và để đồ ăn trước mặt chúng nó.

I drew them with human cords, with bands of love, and I was to them as those that raise the yoke from upon their cheeks, and I fed them.

5 C húng nó sẽ không trở về trong đất Ê-díp-tô nữa, nhưng người A-si-ri sẽ làm vua chúng nó, vì chúng nó chẳng khứng trở lại với ta.

He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king because they refused to be converted.

6 G ươm sẽ rơi trên các thành chúng nó, hủy phá then cửa chúng nó, nuốt hết chúng nó, vì cớ mưu chước chúng nó.

And the sword shall fall upon his cities and shall consume his villages and devour them because of their own counsels.

7 T hật, dân ta quyết ý trái bỏ ta. Người ta khuyên chúng nó đến cùng Đấng cao; song trong chúng nó chẳng một người nào dấy lên.

Meanwhile, my people adhere to the rebellion against me though they call unto me upon High; absolutely none at all wish to exalt me.

¶ How must I leave thee, Ephraim? how shall I give thee up, Israel? how could I make thee as Admah? nor set thee as Zeboim? my heart churns within me; all my compassion is inflamed.

9 T a cầm sự nóng giận lại, và sẽ chẳng lại hủy diệt E

I will not execute the fierceness of my anger; I will not return to destroy Ephraim; for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee; and I will not enter into the city.

10 C húng nó sẽ theo sau Đức Giê-hô-va, Ngài gầm thét như sư tử; Ngài sẽ gầm thét, các con cái sẽ từ phương tây run rẩy mà đến.

They shall walk after the LORD; he shall roar like a lion; when he shall roar, then the sons shall come trembling from the west.

11 C húng nó sẽ run rẩy mà đến từ Ê-díp-tô như chim bay, và từ đất A-si-ri như bò câu; và ta sẽ khiến chúng nó ở trong các nhà chúng nó, Đức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.

As a bird they shall move speedily out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.

Ephraim compasses me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit; but Judah yet rules with God and is faithful with the saints.
