¶ And there was a man of Mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah.

2 N gười nói cùng mẹ mình rằng: Mười một trăm miếng bạc người ta ăn cắp của mẹ, mà mẹ đã rủa sả trước mặt con, và buông những lời trù ẻo chính tai con đã nghe, nầy bạc đó hiện ở trong tay con, ấy là con đã lấy. Mẹ người đáp rằng: Nguyện Đức Giê-hô-va ban phước cho con!

And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were stolen from thee, about which thou didst curse in my hearing, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my son.

3 M i-ca trả lại cho mẹ mình mười một trăm miếng bạc ấy. Mẹ nói cùng người rằng: Tôi biệt bạc nầy riêng ra cho Đức Giê-hô-va, để làm cho con trai tôi một cái tượng chạm luôn với cái chơn bằng gang. Vậy mẹ trả bạc lại cho con bây giờ.

And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had completely dedicated the silver unto the LORD from my hand for thee, my son, to make thee a graven image and a molten image; now therefore, I will restore it unto thee.

4 S ong Mi-ca lại trả bạc cho mẹ mình; mẹ lấy hai trăm miếng trao cho thợ đúc, làm một tượng chạm luôn với cái chơn bằng gang, để trong nhà Mi-ca.

After the money was restored unto her, his mother took two hundred shekels of silver and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image, which was set up in the house of Micah.

5 N hư vậy, nhà Mi-ca trở nên một cái miếu thờ thần. Người cũng làm một cái ê-phót, và những thê-ra-phim, rồi lập một con trai mình làm thầy tế lễ.

And the man Micah had a brothel of idolatry, and made an ephod and teraphim and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

6 T rong lúc đó, không có vua nơi Y-sơ-ra-ên, mọi người cứ làm theo ý mình tưởng là phải.

In those days there was no king in Israel; each one did that which was right in his own eyes.

7 B ấy giờ, ở Bết-lê-hem tại xứ Giu-đa, về nhà Giu-đa, có một gã trai trẻ là người Lê-vi, kiều ngụ trong thành ấy.

¶ And there was a young man out of Bethlehem of Judah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.

8 N gười đó bỏ thành Bết-lê-hem tại xứ Giu-đa, đặng đi kiếm nơi nào kiều ngụ được. Đương đi đàng, người tới núi E

And the man had departed out of the city from Bethlehem of Judah to sojourn where he could find a place, and he came to Mount Ephraim to the house of Micah as he journeyed.

9 M i-ca hỏi rằng: Ngươi ở đâu đến? Người Lê-vi đáp: Tôi ở Bết-lê-hem trong xứ Giu-đa đến, toan đi tới nơi nào tôi kiều ngụ được.

And Micah said unto him, From where hast thou come? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Bethlehem of Judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.

10 M i-ca nói: Hãy ở đây với ta, làm cha và thầy tế lễ cho ta, ta sẽ cấp cho ngươi mỗi năm mười miếng bạc, một bộ áo xống, và những vật cần nuôi mình. Người Lê-vi bèn vào,

Then Micah said unto him, Dwell with me and be a father and a priest unto me, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year and the ordinary apparel and thy food. So the Levite went in.

11 b ằng lòng ở cùng Mi-ca, và Mi-ca coi người trẻ ấy như một con trai của mình.

And the Levite was content to dwell with the man, and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.

12 M i-ca lập người Lê-vi làm thầy tế lễ cho mình, và người ở trong nhà Mi-ca.

And Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest and was in the house of Micah.

13 M i-ca nói: Bây giờ ta biết rằng Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ làm ơn cho ta, bởi vì ta có người Lê-vi làm thầy tế lễ.

Then Micah said, Now know I that the LORD will do me good, seeing I have a Levite as my priest.
