1 B ây giờ hãy nghe lời Đức Giê-hô-va phán: Ngươi hãy chổi dậy; khá đối nại cùng các núi, và làm cho các đồi nghe tiếng ngươi!

¶ Hear ye now what the LORD saith: Arise, contend thou with the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.

2 H ỡi các núi, và các nền hằng vững chắc của đất, hãy nghe lời đối nại của Đức Giê-hô-va! Vì Đức Giê-hô-va có sự đối nại với dân Ngài, và Ngài sẽ đối nại với Y-sơ-ra-ên.

Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD’s controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth; for the LORD has a controversy with his people, and he will reprove Israel.

3 H ỡi dân ta, ta đã làm gì cho ngươi? Ta đã làm mệt nhọc ngươi nỗi gì? Hãy làm chứng nghịch cùng ta.

O my people, what have I done unto thee? and in what have I wearied thee? testify against me.

4 T a đã đem ngươi lên khỏi đất Ê-díp-tô, đã chuộc ngươi ra khỏi nhà tôi mọi, và đã sai Môi-se, A-rôn, Mi-ri-an đến trước mặt ngươi.

For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt and ransomed thee out of the house of slaves; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

5 H ỡi dân ta, khá nhớ lại mưu của Ba-lác là vua Mô-áp đã mưu và lời của Ba-la-am con trai Bê-ô đáp cùng nó; và nhớ lại sự ta đã làm từ Si-tim đến Ghinh-ganh, hầu cho ngươi biết việc công bình của Đức Giê-hô-va!

O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal: that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.

6 T a sẽ đem vật gì chầu trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va và quì lạy trước mặt Đức Chúa Trời rất cao? Ta sẽ đến trước mặt Ngài với những của lễ thiêu và với những bò con giáp niên sao?

¶ With what shall I present myself before the LORD, and how shall I worship the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

7 Đ ức Giê-hô-va há có thích những hàng ngàn chiên đực hay là hàng vạn sông dầu sao? Ta há nên dâng con đầu lòng của ta vì sự phạm pháp ta, và trái của thân thể ta vì tội lỗi linh hồn ta sao?

Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my rebellion, the fruit of my bowels for the sin of my soul?

8 H ỡi người! Ngài đã tỏ cho ngươi điều gì là thiện; cái điều mà Đức Giê-hô-va đòi ngươi há chẳng phải là làm sự công bình, ưa sự nhơn từ và bước đi cách khiêm nhường với Đức Chúa Trời ngươi sao?

He has declared unto thee, O man, what is good and what the LORD requires of thee: only to do right judgment, and to love mercy, and to humble thyself to walk with thy God.

9 T iếng của Đức Giê-hô-va kêu lên nghịch cùng thành nầy, người khôn phải kính sợ danh Ngài. Hãy nghe gậy, mà biết là ai đã định.

¶ The LORD’s voice cries out unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and he who has established it.

10 T rong nhà kẻ ác há chẳng phải còn có của báu gian ác và lường non đáng gớm ghiếc sao?

Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked and the scant measure that is abominable?

11 T a có những cân gian và trái cân giả dối trong bao, thì ta sao được tinh sạch?

Can I be pure with false balances and with a bag of deceitful weights?

12 V ì những kẻ giàu của thành nầy đầy sự cường bạo, dân cư nó dùng sự nói dối, và trong miệng chúng nó có lưỡi hay phỉnh phờ.

With which their rich men are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

13 V ậy nên ta đánh ngươi, làm cho ngươi bị thương nặng, và khiến ngươi hoang vu vì cớ tội lỗi ngươi.

Therefore I have also made thee weak in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.

14 N gươi sẽ ăn, song không được no đâu; sự sỉ nhục sẽ ở giữa ngươi. Ngươi sẽ chuyên của ngươi, song không cứu được; còn cái gì ngươi cứu được, thì ta sẽ phó nó cho gươm.

Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take, but shalt not be saved; and that which thou dost save, I will give it up to the sword.

15 N gươi sẽ gieo, nhưng không được gặt; sẽ ép ô-li-ve, nhưng không được xức dầu; sẽ đạp nho, nhưng không được uống rượu.

Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with the oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink the wine.

16 V ì người ta còn giữ những lề luật của O

For the statutes of Omri have been kept and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye have walked in their counsels that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof a hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.
