1 ¶ At that time Abijah, the son of Jeroboam, fell sick.

Naquele tempo adoeceu Abias, filho de Jeroboão.

2 A nd Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou not be known to be the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh, for Ahijah the prophet is there, who told me that I should be king over this people.

E disse Jeroboão a sua mulher: Levanta-te, e disfarça-te, para que não conheçam que és mulher de Jeroboão, e vai a Siló. Eis que lá está o profeta Aías, o qual falou acerca de mim que eu seria rei sobre este povo.

3 A nd take with thee ten loaves and cracknels and a cruse of honey and go to him, that he shall tell thee what shall become of this child.

Leva contigo dez pães, alguns bolos e uma botija de mel, e vai ter com ele; ele te declarará o que há de suceder a este menino.

4 A nd Jeroboam’s wife did so and arose and went to Shiloh and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

Assim, pois, fez a mulher de Jeroboão; e, levantando-se, foi a Siló, e entrou na casa de Aías. Este já não podia ver, pois seus olhos haviam cegado por causa da velhice.

5 B ut the LORD had said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam shall come to consult thee regarding her son, who is sick; thus and thus shalt thou say unto her, for it shall be, when she comes, that she shall come in disguise.

O Senhor, porém, dissera a Aías: Eis que a mulher de Jeroboão vem consultar-te sobre seu filho, que está doente. Assim e assim lhe falarás; porque há de ser que, entrando ela, fingirá ser outra.

6 A nd it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, wife of Jeroboam; why art thou in disguise? For I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.

Sucedeu que, ouvindo Aías o ruído de seus pés, ao entrar ela pela porta, disse: Entra, mulher de Jeroboão; por que te disfarças assim? Pois eu sou enviado a ti com duras novas.

7 ¶ Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus hath the LORD God of Israel said, Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people and made thee prince over my people Israel,

Vai, dize a Jeroboão: Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: Porquanto te exaltei do meio do povo, e te constituí príncipe sobre o meu povo de Israel,

8 a nd rent the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it thee, and yet thou hast not been as my slave David, who kept my commandments and who followed me with all his heart, to doing only that which was right in my eyes,

e rasguei o reino da casa de Davi, e o dei a ti; todavia não tens sido como o meu servo Davi, que guardou os meus mandamentos e que me seguiu de todo o coração para fazer somente o que era reto aos meus olhos;

9 b ut hast done evil above all that were before thee, for thou hast gone and made thee other gods and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back;

mas tens praticado o mal, pior do que todos os que foram antes de ti, e foste fizeste para ti outros deuses e imagens de fundição, para provocar-me ã ira, e me lançaste para trás das tuas costas;

10 t herefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone that pisses against the wall, the one that is shut up along with the one that is left in Israel, and will burn away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man burns away dung until it is all gone.

portanto, eis que trarei o mal sobre a casa de Jeroboão, e exterminarei de Jeroboão todo homem, escravo ou livre, em Israel, e lançarei fora os remanescentes da casa de Jeroboão, como se lança fora o esterco, até que de todo se acabe.

11 T he one that dies of those of Jeroboam in the city, the dogs shall eat, and the one that dies in the field, the fowls of the air shall eat; for the LORD has spoken it.

Quem morrer a Jeroboão na cidade, comê-lo-ão os cães; e o que lhe morrer no campo, comê-lo-ão as aves do céu; porque o Senhor o disse.

12 A rise thou, therefore, go to thy own house, and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

Levanta-te, pois, e vai-te para tua casa; ao entrarem os teus pés na cidade, o menino morrerá.

13 A nd all Israel shall mourn for him and bury him, for he only of those of Jeroboam shall enter into the grave because in him there is found some good thing of the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.

E todo o Israel o pranteará, e o sepultará; porque de Jeroboão só este entrará em sepultura, porquanto, dos da casa de Jeroboão, só nele se achou alguma coisa boa para com o Senhor Deus de Israel.

14 A nd the LORD shall raise up a king over Israel who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam in this day, but what if even now?

O Senhor, porém, levantará para si um rei sobre Israel, que destruirá a casa de Jeroboão nesse dia. - E agora, que será?

15 F or the LORD shall smite Israel as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he had given to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.

Ferirá o Senhor a Israel, como se agita a cana nas águas; e arrancará a Israel desta boa terra que tinha dado a seus pais, e o espalhará para além do rio, porquanto fizeram os seus aserins, provocando o Senhor ã ira.

16 A nd he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who sinned and who has made Israel sin.

E entregará Israel por causa dos pecados de Jeroboão, o qual pecou e fez pecar a Israel.

17 T hen Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed and came to Tirzah; and as she entered by the threshold of the house, the child died.

Então a mulher de Jeroboão se levantou e partiu, e veio para Tirza; chegando ela ao limiar da casa, o menino morreu.

18 A nd they buried him, and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he had spoken by the hand of his slave Ahijah, the prophet.

E todo o Israel o sepultou e o pranteou, conforme a palavra do Senhor, que ele falara por intermédio de seu servo Aías, o profeta.

19 A nd the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

Quanto ao restante dos atos de Jeroboão, como guerreou, e como reinou, eis que está escrito no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel.

20 A nd the days which Jeroboam reigned were twenty-two years, and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab, his son, reigned in his stead.

E o tempo que Jeroboão reinou foi vinte e dois anos. E dormiu com seus pais; e Nadabe, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

21 ¶ And Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD chose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess.

Reinou em Judá Roboão, filho de Salomão. Tinha quarenta e um anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou dezessete anos em Jerusalém, a cidade que o Senhor escolhera dentre todas as tribos de Israel para pôr ali o seu nome. E era o nome de sua mãe Naama, a amonita.

22 A nd Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to anger more than all that their fathers had done in their sins which they committed.

E fez Judá o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor; e, com os seus pecados que cometeram, provocaram-no a zelos, mais do que o fizeram os seus pais.

23 F or they also built themselves high places and statues, and groves on every high hill and under every green tree.

Porque também eles edificaram altos, e colunas, e aserins sobre todo alto outeiro e debaixo de toda árvore frondosa;

24 A nd there were also male cult prostitutes in the land, and they did according to all the abominations of the Gentiles which the LORD had cast out before the sons of Israel.

e havia também sodomitas na terra: fizeram conforme todas as abominações dos povos que o Senhor tinha expulsado de diante dos filhos de Israel.

25 A nd it came to pass in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem.

Ora, sucedeu que, no quinto ano do rei Roboão, Sisaque, rei do Egito, subiu contra Jerusalém,

26 A nd he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king’s house; he took it all away, and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

e tomou os tesouros da casa de Senhor e os tesouros da casa do rei; levou tudo. Também tomou todos os escudos de ouro que Salomão tinha feito.

27 A nd King Rehoboam made in their stead brasen shields and committed them unto the hands of the chief of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.

Em lugar deles, fez o rei Roboão escudos de bronze, e os entregou nas mãos dos capitães da guarda, que guardavam a porta da casa do rei.

28 A nd when the king went into the house of the LORD, the guard bore them and brought them back afterward into the guard chamber.

E todas as vezes que o rei entrava na casa do Senhor os da guarda levavam os escudos, e depois tornavam a pô-los na câmara da guarda.

29 N ow the rest of the acts of Rehoboam and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Quanto ao restante dos atos de Reboão, e a tudo quanto fez, porventura não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Judá?

30 A nd there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.

Houve guerra continuamente entre Roboão e Jeroboão.

31 A nd Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. And Abijam, his son, reigned in his stead.

E Roboão dormiu com seus pais, e foi sepultado com eles na cidade de Davi. Era o nome de sua mãe Naama, a amonita. E Abião, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
