1 ¶ The burden of the desert of the sea. As the whirlwinds which pass through the wilderness in the land of the south, so they come from the terrible land.

Oráculo acerca do deserto do mar. Como os tufões de vento do sul, que tudo assolam, aí vem do deserto, duma terra horrível.

2 A grievous vision is shown unto me. For one who is treacherous, another who deals treacherously, and for one destroyer, another destroyer. Rise up, Elam; besiege Media; all the sighing thereof I have made to cease.

Dura visão me foi manifesta: o pérfido trata perfidamente, e o destruidor anda destruindo. Sobe, ó Elão, sitia, ó Média; já fiz cessar todo o seu gemido.

3 T herefore my loins are filled with pain; pangs have taken hold upon me as the pangs of a woman that travails; I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.

Pelo que os meus lombos estão cheios de angústia; dores apoderaram-se de mim como as dores de mulher na hora do parto; estou tão atribulado que não posso ouvir, e tão desfalecido que não posso ver.

4 M y heart panted; the horror frightened me; the night of my pleasure he has turned into fear unto me.

O meu coração se agita, o horror apavora-me; o crepúsculo, que desejava, tem-se-me tornado em tremores.

5 P repare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink; arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.

Eles põem a mesa, estendem os tapetes, comem, bebem. Levantai-vos, príncipes, e ungi o escudo.

6 F or thus has the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman who shall declare what he sees.

Porque assim me disse o Senhor: Vai, põe uma sentinela; e ela que diga o que vir.

7 A nd he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; then he looked with more diligence;

Quando vir uma tropa de cavaleiros de dois a dois, uma tropa de jumentos, ou uma tropa de camelos, escute a sentinela atentamente com grande cuidado.

8 a nd he cried, A lion upon the watchman. My lord, I stand continually all the day and all night long upon my watchtower.

Então clamou aquele que viu: Senhor, sobre a torre de vigia estou em pé continuamente de dia, e de guarda me ponho todas as noites.

9 A nd, behold, this chariot of men comes with a couple of horsemen. Afterwards he spoke and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he has broken unto the ground.

E eis aqui agora vem uma tropa de homens, cavaleiros de dois a dois. Então ele respondeu e disse: Caiu, caiu Babilônia; e todas as imagens esculpidas de seus deuses são despedaçadas até o chão.

10 O my harvest, and the people of my threshing floor, that which I have heard of the LORD of the hosts, the God of Israel, I have declared unto you.

Ah, malhada minha, e trigo da minha eira! o que ouvi do Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel, isso vos tenho anunciado.

11 ¶ The burden of Dumah. He calls to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of this night? Watchman, what of this night?

Oráculo acerca de Dumá. Alguém clama a mim de Seir: Guarda, que horas são da noite? guarda, que horas são da noite?

12 T he watchman said, The morning comes and then the night; if ye will enquire, enquire ye; return, and come.

Respondeu o guarda: Vem a manhã, e também a noite; se quereis perguntar, perguntai; voltai, vinde.

13 ¶ The burden upon Arabia. In the forest ye shall pass the night in Arabia, O ye walkers of Dedanim.

Oráculo contra a Arábia. Nos bosques da Arábia passareis a noite, ó caravanas de dedanitas.

14 G o ye out to meet them bringing water for the thirsty, O inhabitants of the land of Tema; succour those who are fleeing with your bread.

Saí com água ao encontro dos sedentos; ó moradores da terra de Tema, saí com pão ao encontro dos fugitivos.

15 F or they flee from the presence of the sword, from the presence of the drawn sword, from the presence of the bent bow, from the presence of the grievousness of the battle.

pois fogem diante das espadas, diante da espada desembainhada, e diante do arco armado, e diante da pressão da guerra.

16 F or thus has the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, all the glory of Kedar shall be undone:

porque assim me disse o Senhor: Dentro de um ano, tal como os anos de jornaleiro, toda a glória de Quedar esvaecerá.

17 A nd the residue of the number of valiant archers, sons of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel has spoken it.

e os restantes do número dos flecheiros, os valentes dos filhos de Quedar, serão diminuídos; porque assim o disse o Senhor, Deus de Israel.
