1 ¶ A false balance is abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is his delight.

A balança enganosa é abominação para o Senhor; mas o peso justo é o seu prazer.

2 ¶ When pride comes, then comes shame, but with the humble is wisdom.

Quando vem a soberba, então vem a desonra; mas com os humildes está a sabedoria.

3 ¶ The perfection of the upright shall guide them in the way, but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

A integridade dos retos os guia; porém a perversidade dos desleais os destrói.

4 ¶ Riches shall not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness shall deliver from death.

De nada aproveitam as riquezas no dia da ira; porém a justiça livra da morte.

5 ¶ The righteousness of the perfect shall straighten his way, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

A justiça dos perfeitos endireita o seu caminho; mas o ímpio cai pela sua impiedade.

6 T he righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, but transgressors shall be imprisoned in their own sin.

A justiça dos retos os livra; mas os traiçoeiros são apanhados nas, suas próprias cobiças.

7 ¶ When the wicked man dies, his hope perishes, and the hope of unjust men shall perish.

Morrendo o ímpio, perece a sua esperança; e a expectativa da iniqüidade.

8 ¶ The righteous is delivered out of the tribulation, and the wicked takes his place.

O justo é libertado da angústia; e o ímpio fica em seu lugar.

9 ¶ The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbour, but the just are delivered with wisdom.

O hipócrita com a boca arruína o seu proximo; mas os justos são libertados pelo conhecimento.

10 ¶ When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish, there are feasts.

Quando os justos prosperam, exulta a cidade; e quando perecem os ímpios, há júbilo.

11 B y the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

Pela bênção dos retos se exalta a cidade; mas pela boca dos ímpios é derrubada.

12 ¶ He that is void of understanding despises his neighbour, but the intelligent man remains silent.

Quem despreza o seu próximo é falto de senso; mas o homem de entendimento se cala.

13 A talebearer reveals secrets, but he that is of a faithful spirit conceals the matter.

O que anda mexericando revela segredos; mas o fiel de espírito encobre o negócio.

14 ¶ When intelligence is lacking, the people shall fall, but in the multitude of counsellors there is salvation.

Quando não há sábia direção, o povo cai; mas na multidão de conselheiros há segurança.

15 ¶ With anxiety shall he that is surety for a stranger be afflicted, and he that hates suretiship shall live securely.

Decerto sofrerá prejuízo aquele que fica por fiador do estranho; mas o que aborrece a fiança estará seguro.

16 ¶ The gracious woman retains honour, and strong men retain riches.

A mulher aprazível obtém honra, e os homens violentos obtêm riquezas.

17 ¶ The merciful man does good to his own soul, but the cruel man troubles his own flesh.

O homem bondoso faz bem ã sua, própria alma; mas o cruel faz mal a si mesmo.

18 ¶ The wicked works a deceitful work, but to him that sows righteousness shall be a sure reward.

O ímpio recebe um salário ilusório; mas o que semeia justiça recebe galardão seguro.

19 ¶ As righteousness is unto life, so he that pursues evil pursues it unto his own death.

Quem é fiel na retidão encaminha, para a vida, e aquele que segue o mal encontra a morte.

20 ¶ They that are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the LORD, but such as are perfect in their way are his delight.

Abominação para o Senhor são os perversos de coração; mas os que são perfeitos em seu caminho são o seu deleite.

21 ¶ No matter how many covenants he has made with death, the wicked shall not be absolved, but the seed of the righteous shall escape.

Decerto o homem mau não ficará sem castigo; porém a descendência dos justos será livre.

22 ¶ As a gold ring in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

Como jóia de ouro em focinho de porca, assim é a mulher formosa que se aparta da discrição.

23 ¶ The desire of the righteous is only good, but the hope of the wicked is wrath.

O desejo dos justos é somente o bem; porém a expectativa dos ímpios é a ira.

24 ¶ There are those who scatter, and more is added unto them; and there are those who withhold more than is just, but come to poverty.

Um dá liberalmente, e se torna mais rico; outro retém mais do que é justo, e se empobrece.

25 ¶ The soul who is a blessing unto others shall be made fat, and he that fills shall be filled also himself.

A alma generosa prosperará, e o que regar também será regado.

26 ¶ He that withholds the grain, the people shall curse him, but blessing shall be upon the head of him that sells it.

Ao que retém o trigo o povo o amaldiçoa; mas bênção haverá sobre a cabeça do que o vende.

27 ¶ He that seeks good early shall find favour, but unto him that seeks evil, it shall come upon him.

O que busca diligentemente o bem, busca favor; mas ao que procura o mal, este lhe sobrevirá.

28 ¶ He that trusts in his riches shall fall, but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

Aquele que confia nas suas riquezas, cairá; mas os justos reverdecerão como a folhagem.

29 ¶ He that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind, and the fool shall be slave to the wise of heart.

O que perturba a sua casa herdará o vento; e o insensato será servo do entendido de coração.

30 ¶ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he that wins souls is wise.

O fruto do justo é árvore de vida; e o que ganha almas sábio é.

31 ¶ The righteous shall certainly be recompensed in the earth; how much more the wicked and the sinner!

Eis que o justo é castigado na terra; quanto mais o ímpio e o pecador!
