1 ¶ This third time I am coming unto you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

É esta a terceira vez que vou ter convosco. Por boca de duas ou três testemunhas será confirmada toda palavra.

2 I told you before and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now, I write to those who until now have sinned and to all others that, if I come again, I will not spare,

Já o disse quando estava presente a segunda vez, e estando agora ausente torno a dizer aos que antes pecaram e a todos os mais que, se outra vez for, não os pouparei.

3 S ince ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, who unto you is not weak, but is mighty in you.

visto que buscais uma prova de que Cristo fala em mim; o qual não é fraco para convosco, antes é poderoso entre vós.

4 F or though he was crucified through weakness, yet he lives by the power of God. By which we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God in you.

Porque, ainda que foi crucificado por fraqueza, vive contudo pelo poder de Deus. Pois nós também somos fracos nele, mas viveremos com ele pelo poder de Deus para convosco.

5 E xamine yourselves whether ye are in the faith; prove your own selves. Do ye not know your own selves if Jesus Christ is in you? Unless ye are reprobates.

Examinai-vos a vós mesmos se permaneceis na fé; provai-vos a vós mesmos. Ou não sabeis quanto a vós mesmos, que Jesus Cristo está em vós? Se não é que já estais reprovados.

6 B ut I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

Mas espero que entendereis que nós não somos reprovados.

7 ¶ Now I pray to God that ye do no evil, not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is good, though we be as reprobates.

Ora, rogamos a Deus que não façais mal algum, não para que nós pareçamos aprovados, mas que vós façais o bem, embora nós sejamos como reprovados.

8 F or we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

Porque nada podemos contra a verdade, porém, a favor da verdade.

9 B y which we are glad that we are weak and ye are strong, and even so we pray for your perfection.

Pois nos regozijamos quando nós estamos fracos e vós sois fortes; e isto é o que rogamos, a saber, o vosso aperfeiçoamento.

10 T herefore I write these things being absent lest being present I should treat you with more severity, according to the power which the Lord has given me for edification, and not for destruction.

Portanto, escrevo estas coisas estando ausente, para que, quando estiver presente, não use de rigor, segundo a autoridade que o Senhor me deu para edificação, e não para destruição.

11 ¶ For the rest, brethren, that ye may have joy, be perfected, have consolation, be of one mind, having peace; and the God of peace and charity shall be with you.

Quanto ao mais, irmãos, regozijai-vos, sede perfeitos, sede consolados, sede de um mesmo parecer, vivei em paz; e o Deus de amor e de paz será convosco.

12 G reet one another with a holy kiss.

Saudai-vos uns aos outros com ósculo santo.

13 A ll the saints salute you.

Todos os santos vos saúdam.

14 T he grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the charity of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

A graça do Senhor Jesus Cristo, e o amor de Deus, e a comunhão do Espírito Santo sejam com todos vós.
