1 ¶ And the whole congregation of the sons of Israel assembled together at Shiloh and set up the tabernacle of the testimony there after the land was subdued before them.

Ora, toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel, havendo conquistado a terra, se reuniu em Siló, e ali armou a tenda da revelação.

2 ¶ And there remained among the sons of Israel seven tribes who had not yet received their inheritance.

E dentre os filhos de Israel restavam sete tribos que ainda não tinham repartido a sua herança.

3 A nd Joshua said unto the sons of Israel, How long shall ye be negligent to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers has given you?

Disse, pois, Josué aos filhos de Israel: Até quando sereis remissos em entrardes para possuir a terra que o Senhor Deus de vossos pais vos deu?

4 I ndicate from among you three men for each tribe that I may send them and let them arise and walk through the land and draw it according to its inheritances; and they shall return unto me.

Designai vós a três homens de cada tribo, e eu os enviarei; e eles sairão a percorrer a terra, e a demarcarão segundo as suas heranças, e voltarão a ter comigo.

5 A nd they shall divide it into seven parts; Judah shall abide in their borders towards the Negev, and the house of Joseph shall abide in their borders on the north.

Reparti-la-ão em sete partes; Judá ficará no seu termo da banda do sul; e a casa de José ficará no seu termo da banda do norte.

6 Y e shall therefore draw up the land into seven parts and bring the description here that I may cast lots for you here before the LORD our God.

Sim, vós demarcareis a terra em sete partes, e me trareis a mim a sua descrição; eu vos lançarei as sortes aqui perante o Senhor nosso Deus.

7 B ut the Levites have no part among you; for the priesthood of the LORD is their inheritance; and Gad and Reuben and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance of the other side of the Jordan on the east, which Moses, the slave of the LORD, gave them.

Porquanto os levitas não têm parte no meio de vós, porque o sacerdócio do Senhor é a sua herança; e Gade, Rúben e a meia tribo de Manassés já receberam a sua herança além do Jordão para o oriente, a qual lhes deu Moisés, servo do Senhor.

8 A nd the men arose and went away; and Joshua charged those that went to draw the land, saying unto them, Go and walk through the land and draw it up and return to me that I may cast lots for you here before the LORD in Shiloh.

Então aqueles homens se aprontaram para saírem; e Josué deu ordem a esses que iam demarcar a terra, dizendo: Ide, percorrei a terra, e demarcai-a; então vinde ter comigo; e aqui em Siló vos lançarei as sortes perante o Senhor.

9 A nd those men went and passed through the land, drawing it by cities into seven parts in a book and came again to Joshua to the camp at Shiloh.

Foram, pois, aqueles homens e, passando pela terra, a demarcaram em sete partes segundo as suas cidades, descrevendo-a num livro; e voltaram a Josué, ao arraial em Siló.

10 A nd Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD; and there Joshua divided the land unto the sons of Israel according to their portions.

Então Josué lhes lançou as sortes em Siló, perante o Senhor; e ali repartiu Josué a terra entre os filhos de Israel, conforme as suas divisões.

11 ¶ And the lot of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin came up according to their families; and the border of their lot came forth between the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph.

E surgiu a sorte da tribo dos filhos de Benjamim, segundo as suas famílias, e coube-lhe o território da sua sorte entre os filhos de Judá e os filhos de José.

12 A nd their border on the side of the north was from the Jordan and that border goes up beside Jericho on the north side and up to the mountain westward and comes out at the wilderness of Bethaven;

O seu termo ao norte, partindo do Jordão, vai até a saliência ao norte de Jericó e, subindo pela região montanhosa para o ocidente, chega até o deserto de Bete-Áven;

13 a nd from there that border passes through Luz, by the side of Luz (which is Bethel) towards the Negev. And this border descends from Atarothadar to the mountain that is towards the Negev of the lower Bethhoron.

dali passa até Luz, ao lado de Luz (que é Betel) para o sul; e desce a Atarote-Adar, junto ao monte que está ao sul de Bete-Horom de baixo;

14 A nd this border turns and compasses the side of the sea towards the Negev unto the mountain that is before Bethhoron towards the Negev, and it comes out at Kirjathbaal, which is Kirjathjearim, a city of the sons of Judah. This is the west quarter.

e vai este termo virando, pelo lado ocidental, para o sul desde o monte que está defronte de Bete-Horom; e chega a Quiriate-Baal (que é Quiriate-Jearim), cidade dos filhos de Judá. Esta é a sua fronteira ocidental.

15 A nd the side of the Negev is from the end of Kirjathjearim, and the border goes out to the west and comes out at the well of waters of Nephtoah,

A sua fronteira meridional começa desde a extremidade de Quiriate-Jearim, e dali se estende até Efrom, até a fonte das águas de Neftoa;

16 a nd this border descends to the end of the mountain that is before the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is in the valley of the giants to the north, and descends then to the valley of Hinnom, to the side of the Jebusite towards the Negev and from there descends to the fountain of Rogel,

desce ã extremidade do monte que está fronteiro ao vale de Ben-Hinom, que está no vale dos refains, para o norte; também desce ao vale de Hinom da banda dos jebuseus para o sul; e desce ainda até En-Rogel;

17 a nd from the north it turns and goes to Enshemesh and from there goes to Geliloth, which is over against the ascent to Adummim, and descends to the stone of Bohan, the son of Reuben

passando para o norte, chega a En-Semes, e dali sai a Gelilote, que está defronte da subida de Adumim; desce ã pedra de Boã, filho de Rúben;

18 a nd passes along toward the side over against the valley of the north and descends to the plain;

segue para o norte, margeando a Arabá, e desce ainda até a Arabá;

19 a nd this border turns to pass to the side of Bethhoglah northward, and the border comes out at the north bay of the salt sea at the end of the Jordan towards the Negev. This is the border towards the Negev.

segue dali para o norte, ladeando Bete-Hogla; e os seus extremos chegam ã baía setentrional do Mar Salgado, na extremidade meridional do Jordão. Esse é o termo do sul.

20 A nd Jordan finishes this border on the east side. This is the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin, by the borders thereof round about, according to their families.

E o Jordão é o seu termo oriental. Essa é a herança dos filhos de Benjamim, pelos seus termos ao redor, segundo as suas famílias.

21 N ow the cities of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, Bethhoglah, the valley of Keziz,
