1 A sí ha dicho el Señor acerca de los hijos de Amón: «¿Acaso Israel no tiene hijos? ¿Acaso no tiene ningún heredero? ¿Por qué Milcón le ha quitado a Gad su territorio, y ha establecido a su pueblo en sus ciudades?

¶ Concerning the Ammonites, thus hath the LORD said: Does Israel have no sons? does he have no heir? why then does their king inherit Gad and his people dwell in his cities?

2 P or eso, vienen días en que haré que se oiga clamor de guerra en Rabá, la ciudad de los amonitas. Entonces Rabá quedará convertida en un montón de ruinas, y sus ciudades serán incendiadas, e Israel retomará el territorio que los amonitas le quitaron. —Palabra del Señor.

Therefore, behold, the days come, said the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be made a desolate heap, and her cities shall be burned with fire; then shall Israel be heir unto those that were his heirs, said the LORD.

3 » ¡Deja oír, Jesbón, tus lamentos! La ciudad de Hai será destruida. Y ustedes, mujeres de Rabá, ¡griten y vístanse de luto! ¡Lloren de tristeza y rodeen las colinas! Milcón será llevado en cautiverio, junto con sus sacerdotes y sus príncipes.

Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled; cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird yourselves with sackcloth; lament and run to and fro by the hedges, for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.

4 C iudad contumaz, que confías en tus tesoros y crees que nadie podrá atacarte, ¿por qué te vanaglorias de los valles, si tu valle ha sido desolado?

Why gloriest thou in the valleys? Thy valley has slipped, O backsliding daughter that trusted in her treasures, she that saith, Who shall come against me?

5 Y o voy a rodearte de espanto por todos lados, y toda tu gente será puesta en fuga, sin que nadie se ocupe de reagruparlos. —Palabra del Señor de los ejércitos.

Behold, I bring fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of the hosts, from all sides; and ye shall be driven out each man right forth in the direction he is facing; and no one shall gather up him that wanders.

6 » Después de eso, haré volver a los amonitas de su cautividad.» —Palabra del Señor. Profecía acerca de Edom

And afterward I will turn again the captivity of the sons of Ammon, said the LORD.

7 A sí ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos acerca de Edom: «¿Ya no hay sabiduría en Temán? ¿Ya no pueden sus sabios dar consejos? ¿Se afectó su sabiduría?

¶ Concerning Edom, thus hath the LORD of the hosts said: Is there no more wisdom in Teman? Has the counsel of the wise perished? Is their wisdom corrupted?

8 ¡ Huyan, habitantes de Dedán! ¡Retrocedan, y quédense a vivir en lugares escondidos! Porque cuando yo castigue a Esaú voy a traer sobre él la destrucción.

Flee, turn back, hide in the deeps to remain, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, at the time that I have to visit him.

9 C uando los vendimiadores recogen uvas, no se llevan todas; y cuando los ladrones asaltan por la noche, tampoco se llevan todo.

If grapegatherers came against thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? If thieves by night, they will take what they have need of.

10 P ero a Esaú lo voy a dejar desnudo. Encontraré sus escondrijos, y no podrá esconderse de mí. Toda su descendencia, y sus hermanos y vecinos, serán destruidos, y dejará de existir.

But I will make Esau bare, I will uncover his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself; his seed shall be destroyed, and his brethren and his neighbours and he shall no longer be.

11 P ero a sus huérfanos yo los criaré, y sus viudas podrán depender de mí.»

Leave thy fatherless children; I will raise them; and thy widows shall trust in me.

12 A sí ha dicho el Señor: «Los que no estaban condenados a beber la copa de mi ira, tuvieron que beberla. Así que tú de ninguna manera serás absuelto, sino que también tendrás que beberla.

For thus hath the LORD said: Behold, those who were not condemned to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and shalt thou be absolved of everything? Thou shalt not be absolved, but thou shalt surely drink of it.

13 Y o he jurado por mí mismo, que Bosra quedará asolada y solitaria, y como objeto de oprobio y maldición. ¡Todas sus ciudades quedarán en ruinas para siempre!» —Palabra del Señor.

For I have sworn by myself, said the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.

14 Y o, Jeremías, recibí un mensaje del Señor. Fue el mismo mensaje que había enviado a las naciones, y que decía: «¡Júntense contra Edom, y declárenle la guerra!

I have heard the news, that from the LORD a messenger had been sent unto the Gentiles, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.

15 E dom, yo te haré pequeño entre las naciones, y menospreciado entre los hombres.

For, behold, I have placed thee as small among the Gentiles and despised among men.

16 T ú, que habitas en las cuevas de las peñas, en lo alto de las montañas: Tu arrogancia y la soberbia de tu corazón te engañaron. Aunque pongas tu nido en las alturas, como las águilas, de allí te haré descender.» —Palabra del Señor.

Thy arrogance has deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dost dwell in the clefts of the rock, that dost hold the height of the mountain: though thou should make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from there, said the LORD.

17 Y Edom quedará en ruinas. Todos los que pasen junto a ella, quedarán asombrados y se burlarán de todas sus calamidades.

Also Edom shall be a desolation; every one that goes by it shall be astonished and shall hiss at all its plagues.

18 L e pasará lo mismo que a Sodoma y Gomorra y sus ciudades vecinas, cuando fueron destruidas: Nunca más volverá a ser habitada. —Palabra del Señor.

As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, said the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.

19 E l Señor vendrá contra Edom como un león que sale de los bosques del Jordán y ataca a un rebaño fuerte y robusto. Lo hará huir de su tierra, y al frente de ella pondrá a quien él escoja. Porque nadie puede compararse al Señor; nadie puede ocupar su lugar. ¿Qué jefe hay que pueda oponerse a él?

Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan to the strong habitation: for I will make rest and make him run from upon her, and he who is chosen I shall appoint over her; for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?

20 P or lo tanto, escuchen lo que el Señor ha decidido hacer contra Edom, es decir, los planes que piensa ejecutar contra los habitantes de Temán. Todos serán llevados como ovejas, aún los más pequeños, y sus campos serán destruidos.

Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD that he has taken against Edom; and his thoughts, that he has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out; surely he shall destroy their habitations with them.

21 S u caída será tan estruendosa que la tierra temblará, y sus gritos se oirán hasta el Mar Rojo.

The earth is moved at the noise of their fall; at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.

22 E l enemigo vendrá como águila, y remontará el vuelo y se lanzará contra Bosra. Ese día, el corazón de los valientes de Edom será como el corazón de una mujer parturienta. Profecía acerca de Damasco

Behold, he shall rise up and fly as the eagle and spread his wings over Bozrah; and at that day the heart of the mighty men of Edom shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

23 A cerca de Damasco. Jamat y Arfad han recibido malas noticias, y no saben qué hacer. Se derriten de miedo; son como el mar, que no puede sosegarse.

¶ Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad, for they have heard bad news; they have melted in waters of feebleness; they cannot be reassured.

24 D amasco ha perdido el ánimo, y se dispone a huir. La dominan el miedo y la angustia; le han sobrevenido dolores, como de mujer parturienta.

Damascus is waxed feeble and turns herself to flee, and fear has seized on her; anguish and sorrows have taken her as a woman in travail.

25 ¡ Abandonada ha quedado la ciudad alabada, la ciudad alegre!

How did they not forgive the city of praise, the city of my joy!

26 P or eso en aquel día sus jóvenes y todos sus hombres de guerra morirán en sus calles. —Palabra del Señor de los ejércitos.

Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, said the LORD of the hosts.

27 Y el Señor prenderá fuego a las murallas de Damasco, y ese fuego consumirá las casas de Ben Adad. Profecía sobre Cedar y Jazor

And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the houses of Benhadad.

28 A sí ha dicho el Señor acerca de Cedar y de los reinos de Jazor, a los cuales el rey Nabucodonosor de Babilonia destruyó: «¡Levántense, y ataquen a Cedar! ¡Destruyan a los hijos del oriente!

¶ Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote, thus hath the LORD said; Arise ye, go up to Kedar and destroy the men of the east.

29 ¡ Despójenlos de sus tiendas y de sus ganados! ¡Tomen para ustedes sus cortinas y todos sus utensilios, y aun sus camellos! ¡Digan a voz en cuello que hay terror por todas partes!

Their tents and their flocks shall they take away; they shall take to themselves their curtains and all their vessels and their camels; and they shall invoke fear on every side against them.

30 ¡ Huyan, habitantes de Jazor! ¡Váyanse muy lejos, y habiten en lugares escondidos! Nabucodonosor, el rey de Babilonia, ya ha trazado planes contra ustedes, y piensa derrotarlos.» —Palabra del Señor.

Flee, get you far off, dwell in the deeps that ye may stand, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, said the LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you and has conceived a purpose against you.

31 ¡ Vamos, ataquen a esa nación pacífica, que vive confiada y solitaria! ¡Ni siquiera tiene puertas ni cerrojos! —Palabra del Señor.

Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation that dwells without care, saith the LORD, which has neither gates nor bars, which dwells alone.

32 « Yo voy a esparcirlos por los cuatro vientos; voy a arrojarlos hasta el último rincón del mundo. Sus camellos y sus muchos ganados serán el botín de guerra. De todos lados voy a traer la ruina sobre ellos. —Palabra del Señor.

And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter them into all the winds, throwing them out unto the utmost corner; and from all their sides I will bring their ruin, said the LORD.

33 » Jazor quedará para siempre convertida en un desierto, en refugio de chacales; No habrá nadie que habite ese territorio.» Profecía sobre Elam

And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons and a desolation for ever: no man shall abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.

34 A l principio del reinado de Sedequías en Judá, la palabra del Señor vino al profeta Jeremías acerca de Elam, y le dijo:

¶ The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet regarding Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

35 « Así ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos: Voy a quebrar el arco de Elam, que es la parte principal de su fortaleza.

Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said: Behold, I break the bow of Elam, the foundation of their might.

36 V oy a traer sobre Elam los cuatro vientos de los cuatro puntos del cielo, y a los cuatro vientos los lanzaré. No habrá una sola nación a donde no vayan los fugitivos de Elam.

And upon Elam I will bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation where the outcasts of Elam shall not come.

37 Y haré que Elam se deje intimidar por sus enemigos, por los que quieren quitarle la vida. Yo traeré sobre ellos la calamidad y el ardor de mi ira, y enviaré la espada, para que los persiga hasta acabar con ellos. —Palabra del Señor.

For I will cause Elam to fear before their enemies and before those that seek their soul; and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, said the LORD; and I will send the sword after them until I have consumed them.

38 » Pondré mi trono en Elam, y destruiré a su rey y a su príncipe. —Palabra del Señor.

And I will set my throne in Elam and will destroy from there the king and the princes, said the LORD.

39 » Pero en los últimos días haré volver a los cautivos de Elam.» —Palabra del Señor.

But it shall come to pass in the last of the days that I will turn again the captivity of Elam, said the LORD.
