1 D e Judea llegaron algunos que enseñaban a los hermanos que, si no se circuncidaban según el rito de Moisés, no podían ser salvos.

¶ Then certain men who came down from Judaea taught the brethren and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

2 C omo Pablo y Bernabé tuvieron una fuerte discusión con ellos, se acordó que los dos y algunos otros fueran a Jerusalén para tratar esta cuestión con los apóstoles y los ancianos.

When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain other of them should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

3 C omo habían sido enviados por la iglesia, pasaron por Fenicia y Samaria, y allí hablaron de la conversión de los no judíos, lo cual hizo que todos los hermanos se alegraran mucho.

And they, being accompanied by some from the congregation, passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles, and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

4 C uando llegaron a Jerusalén, fueron recibidos por la iglesia, los apóstoles y los ancianos, y allí contaron todo lo que Dios había hecho con ellos.

And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received by the congregation and by the apostles and elders, and they declared all the things that God had done with them.

5 P ero algunos creyentes de la secta de los fariseos, que estaban allí, se opusieron a ellos y dijeron: «Es necesario circuncidarlos, y mandarles que cumplan con la ley de Moisés.»

But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees who had believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

6 L os apóstoles y los ancianos se reunieron para tratar este asunto,

¶ And the apostles and elders came together to consider of this matter.

7 y luego de mucho discutir, Pedro se levantó y les dijo: «Queridos hermanos, ustedes saben que hace algún tiempo Dios determinó que yo mismo proclamara a los no judíos el mensaje del evangelio, para que creyeran.

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God chose that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel and believe.

8 Y Dios, que conoce los corazones, los confirmó y les dio el Espíritu Santo, lo mismo que a nosotros.

And God, who knows the hearts, bore them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as he did unto us,

9 D ios no hizo ninguna diferencia entre ellos y nosotros, sino que por la fe purificó sus corazones.

and put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

10 E ntonces, ¿por qué ponen a prueba a Dios, al imponer sobre los discípulos una carga que ni nuestros padres ni nosotros hemos podido llevar?

Now therefore why tempt ye God, putting a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

11 L o que creemos es que, por la bondad del Señor Jesús, seremos salvos lo mismo que ellos.»

For we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

12 A l oír que Bernabé y Pablo contaban las grandes señales y maravillas que Dios había realizado por medio de ellos entre los no judíos, toda la multitud guardó silencio;

Then all the multitude kept silence and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what great miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

13 y cuando terminaron de hablar, Jacobo respondió y dijo: «Hermanos, escúchenme.

And after they had become silent, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

14 S imón nos ha contado cómo Dios visitó a los no judíos por primera vez, para añadirlos al pueblo que cree en su nombre.

Simeon has declared how God first visited the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

15 L as palabras de los profetas concuerdan en esto, pues está escrito:

And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

16 » “Después de esto volveré, y reedificaré el caído tabernáculo de David; repararé sus ruinas y lo volveré a levantar,

After this I will return and will restore the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will repair its ruins, and I will set it up again,

17 p ara que el resto de la humanidad busque al Señor, y también todas las naciones que invocan mi nombre.”

that the men that are left might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who does all these things.

18 » Esto lo dice el Señor. Lo ha dado a conocer desde los tiempos antiguos.

Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

19 » Mi consejo es que no inquieten a los no judíos para que se conviertan a Dios,

Therefore my sentence is that those from among the Gentiles who are converted to God not be troubled,

20 s ino que los instruyan para que se aparten de la idolatría, del libertinaje sexual, del comer carne de animales ahogados, y de comer sangre.

but that we write unto them that they abstain from pollutions of idols and from fornication and from things strangled and from blood.

21 A Moisés no le falta quien lo predique en las sinagogas, cada día de reposo, en cada ciudad y desde los tiempos antiguos.»

For Moses of old time has in every city those that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

22 A los apóstoles, a los ancianos y a toda la iglesia, les pareció buena idea elegir de entre ellos a algunos hermanos, y eligieron a Judas, también conocido como Barsabás, y a Silas, pues sobresalían entre los demás hermanos, y los enviaron a Antioquía con Pablo y Bernabé.

¶ Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole congregation, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, principal men among the brethren;

23 P or conducto de ellos enviaron un escrito: «Los apóstoles y los ancianos, a nuestros hermanos no judíos en Antioquía, Siria y Cilicia. Reciban nuestros saludos.

and they wrote letters by them after this manner: The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia;

24 H emos sabido que algunos hermanos que estaban con nosotros, a quienes no les dimos ninguna orden, los han perturbado e inquietado a ustedes con sus enseñanzas.

forasmuch as we have heard that certain ones who went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised and keep the law, to whom we gave no such commandment,

25 H emos llegado al acuerdo, que nos parece bien, de elegir a algunos hermanos y enviarlos a ustedes con nuestros amados hermanos Bernabé y Pablo.

it seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

26 E llos han expuesto su vida por causa del nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

27 A sí que con ellos van Judas y Silas, quienes en sus propias palabras les dirán esto mismo.

We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

28 A l Espíritu Santo y a nosotros nos ha parecido bien no imponerles ninguna otra carga, sino sólo esto que necesitan saber:

For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things:

29 q ue deben abstenerse de comer lo que se ha sacrificado a los ídolos, de comer sangre o la carne de animales ahogados, y del libertinaje sexual. Harán bien en evitar estas cosas. Que estén muy bien.»

that ye abstain from foods offered to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

30 C uando los hermanos que fueron enviados llegaron a Antioquía, reunieron a la congregación y entregaron la carta.

So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch; and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle,

31 C uando los hermanos terminaron de leerla, se alegraron por el consuelo recibido.

which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

32 C omo Judas y Silas también eran profetas, con mucho afecto fraternal consolaron y confirmaron en la fe a los hermanos,

And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words and confirmed them.

33 y después de haber pasado un tiempo con ellos, los hermanos los despidieron en paz, para que regresaran con quienes los habían enviado.

And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.

34 S ilas prefirió quedarse allí,

Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.

35 a sí que Pablo y Bernabé continuaron enseñando la palabra del Señor en Antioquía, y anunciando el evangelio a muchos más. Pablo se separa de Bernabé y comienza su segundo viaje misionero

Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching the word of the Lord and announcing the gospel, with many others also.

36 A lgunos días después, Pablo le dijo a Bernabé: «Volvamos a visitar a los hermanos en las ciudades donde hemos anunciado la palabra del Señor, para ver cómo están.»

¶ And some days after, Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord and see how they do.

37 B ernabé quería que los acompañara Juan, que también era conocido como Marcos,

And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

38 p ero Pablo no estuvo de acuerdo porque Juan se había separado de ellos en Panfilia y no había trabajado con ellos.

But Paul thought it not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia and did not go with them to the work.

39 T an grande fue el desacuerdo entre ellos, que terminaron por separarse: Bernabé tomó a Marcos y se embarcó a Chipre,

And the contention was so sharp between them that they departed asunder one from the other, and so Barnabas took Mark and sailed unto Cyprus;

40 p ero Pablo escogió a Silas. Los hermanos lo encomendaron a la bendición del Señor,

and Paul chose Silas and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

41 y a su paso por Siria y Cilicia fue confirmando a las iglesias.

And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the congregations.
