1 E l Señor habló con Moisés, y le dijo:

¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

2 « Habla con los hijos de Israel, y pídeles que cada uno de sus jefes tribales te traiga una vara, es decir, una vara por cada cabeza de tribu, conforme a las familias de sus antepasados, o sea, doce varas. En cada vara escribirás el nombre de cada uno de ellos,

Speak unto the sons of Israel and take of each of them a rod according to the houses of their fathers, of all their princes, twelve rods according to the houses of their fathers, and write thou each man’s name upon his rod.

3 y en la vara de Leví escribirás el nombre de Aarón, pues cada jefe de familia de sus antepasados debe tener una vara.

And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi, for each head of family of their fathers shall have one rod.

4 P ondrás las varas en el tabernáculo de reunión, delante del testimonio, que es donde yo me manifestaré a ustedes.

And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the testimony, before the testimony, where I will testify of myself unto you.

5 L a vara de aquel a quien yo escoja florecerá; y así pondré fin a las quejas y murmuraciones de los hijos de Israel contra ustedes.»

And it shall come to pass regarding the man whom I shall choose that his rod shall blossom; and I will resolve the complaints of the sons of Israel, with which they murmur against you.

6 M oisés habló con los hijos de Israel, y todos sus jefes le dieron varas; cada príncipe le dio una vara por las familias de sus antepasados, en total doce varas; y entre las varas de ellos estaba la vara de Aarón.

And Moses spoke unto the sons of Israel, and all their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods; and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.

7 M oisés puso las varas en el tabernáculo del testimonio, delante del Señor,

And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of the testimony.

8 y sucedió que al día siguiente, cuando Moisés volvió al tabernáculo del testimonio, la vara de Aarón, de la familia de Leví, había retoñado y florecido, y tenía renuevos y había producido almendras.

¶ And it came to pass that on the next day Moses went into the tabernacle of the testimony; and, behold, the rod of Aaron of the house of Levi had budded and blossomed and brought forth open flowers and yielded almonds.

9 M oisés quitó entonces de la presencia del Señor todas las varas, y se las llevó a todos los hijos de Israel para que las vieran y para que cada uno tomara la suya.

Then Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the sons of Israel; and they looked, and each one took his rod.

10 P ero el Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Vuelve a poner la vara de Aarón delante del testimonio. Ordena que se guarde, como señal a los hijos rebeldes. Así pondrás fin a sus quejas ante mí, para que no mueran.»

And the LORD said unto Moses, Return Aaron’s rod before the testimony to be kept for a sign unto the rebellious sons; and thou shalt cause their complaints to cease from upon me, that they not die.

11 Y Moisés hizo lo que el Señor le mandó hacer.

And Moses did as the LORD commanded him, so did he.

12 D espués los hijos de Israel hablaron con Moisés y le dijeron: «¡Estamos perdidos! ¡Estamos perdidos! ¡Ya podemos darnos por muertos!

Then the sons of Israel spoke unto Moses, saying, Behold, we are dead, we are lost, we are all lost.

13 S in duda, cualquiera que se acerque al tabernáculo del Señor morirá. ¿Acaso todos vamos a morir?»

Anyone who comes near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall die; shall we all perish?
