1 C uando llegaron a Iconio, siguiendo su costumbre entraron en la sinagoga de los judíos; y era tal la convicción con que hablaban que una gran multitud de judíos y de griegos creyó.

¶ And it came to pass in Iconium that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews and so spoke, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

2 P ero los judíos que no quisieron creer, dañaron el ánimo de los que no eran judíos y los azuzaron contra los hermanos.

But the disobedient Jews stirred up the Gentiles and corrupted their desire against the brethren.

3 A pesar de eso, Bernabé y Pablo se quedaron allí mucho tiempo, y hablaban sin ningún temor y confiados en el Señor, que por su bondad y misericordia les concedió hacer milagros prodigiosos.

With all this, they abode there a long time speaking with freedom in the Lord, who gave testimony unto the word of his grace and granted that signs and wonders be done by their hands.

4 L a gente de la ciudad estaba dividida, porque unos apoyaban a los judíos y otros a los apóstoles.

But the multitude of the city was divided, and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

5 E ntonces judíos y no judíos, y sus gobernantes, se juntaron con la intención de hacerles daño a los apóstoles y apedrearlos;

And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles and also of the Jews with their princes, to insult them and to stone them,

6 p ero ellos se dieron cuenta y huyeron a Listra y Derbe, ciudades de Licaonia, y de allí fueron a todas las regiones cercanas,

they were aware of it and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lies round about.

7 d onde predicaban el evangelio. Pablo es apedreado en Listra

And there they preached the gospel.

8 E n Listra había un hombre lisiado de nacimiento; no podía mover los pies ni había caminado jamás. Estaba sentado,

¶ And a certain man sat at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked;

9 e scuchando a Pablo; y cuando Pablo lo vio a los ojos, comprendió que tenía fe para ser sanado.

this man heard Paul speak, who steadfastly beholding him and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

10 E ntonces Pablo levantó la voz y le dijo: «Levántate, y apóyate sobre tus pies.» Y aquel hombre dio un salto y comenzó a caminar.

said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

11 A l ver la gente lo que Pablo había hecho, comenzó a gritar en lengua licaónica: «Los dioses han bajado en forma de hombres, y nos están visitando.»

And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

12 A Bernabé lo llamaron Júpiter, y como Pablo era el que hablaba, a él lo llamaron Mercurio.

And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius because he was the chief speaker.

13 E l sacerdote de Júpiter, que oficiaba en el templo que estaba frente a la ciudad, llevó hasta las puertas toros y guirnaldas, y les quería ofrecer sacrificios junto con la muchedumbre.

Then the priest of Jupiter, who was before their city, brought bulls and garlands unto the gates and would have done sacrifice unto them with the people.

14 C uando Bernabé y Pablo se enteraron de esto, se rasgaron la ropa y corrieron entre la multitud, y a gritos dijeron:

Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they rent their clothes and ran in among the people, crying out

15 « Amigos, ¿por qué hacen esto? Nosotros somos unos simples mortales, lo mismo que ustedes. Hemos venido a decirles que se vuelvan al Dios de la vida, al creador del cielo, la tierra y el mar, y de todo lo que hay en ellos, y que se aparten de todo esto, que para nada sirve.

and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all the things that are therein,

16 E n el pasado, Dios permitió que la gente anduviera por sus propios caminos,

who in generations past suffered all the Gentiles to walk in their own ways.

17 a unque no dejó de manifestar su poder al enviarnos toda clase de bienes, pues del cielo nos viene la lluvia, que hace fructificar la tierra para nuestro sustento y alegría.»

Nevertheless he did not leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

18 C uando ellos dijeron esto, casi les fue imposible impedir que la multitud les ofreciera sacrificio.

And with these words they scarcely restrained the people, that they not sacrifice unto them.

19 E n ese momento llegaron de Antioquía y de Iconio unos judíos que persuadieron a la multitud para que apedreara a Pablo; después de eso lo arrastraron y lo llevaron fuera de la ciudad, pues creían que estaba muerto.

¶ And certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he was dead.

20 P ero los discípulos lo protegieron, y Pablo se levantó y entró en la ciudad, y al día siguiente salió con Bernabé para Derbe.

But as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up and came into the city, and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

21 D espués de anunciar el evangelio en aquella ciudad y de hacer muchos discípulos, los dos regresaron a Listra, a Iconio y a Antioquía,

And when they had preached the gospel to that city and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra and to Iconium and Antioch,

22 y allí infundían ánimo a los discípulos y los alentaban a mantener la fe. Les decían: «Para entrar en el reino de Dios nos es necesario pasar por muchas tribulaciones.»

confirming the souls of the disciples and exhorting them to remain in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

23 T ambién nombraron ancianos en cada iglesia, y luego de orar y ayunar los encomendaron al Señor, en quien habían creído. El regreso a Antioquía de Siria

And having ordained elders for them in every congregation and having prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord on whom they believed.

24 L uego de pasar por Pisidia, llegaron a Panfilia;

And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

25 d espués predicaron el evangelio en Perge, y se fueron a Atalia;

And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia

26 d e allí navegaron hasta Antioquía, en donde los habían encomendado a Dios para que hicieran la obra que ya habían cumplido.

and from there sailed to Antioch, where they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

27 C uando llegaron, reunieron a la iglesia y narraron las grandes cosas que Dios había hecho con ellos, y cómo había abierto la puerta de la fe para que los no judíos entraran por ella.

And when they were come and had gathered the congregation together, they related what great things God had done with them and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

28 Y allí se quedaron mucho tiempo con los discípulos.

And there they abode a long time with the disciples.
