1 D espués de esto, Jesús andaba por todas las ciudades y aldeas, y allí proclamaba y anunciaba las buenas noticias del reino de Dios. Lo acompañaban los doce,

¶ And it came to pass afterward that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and announcing the gospel of the kingdom of God, and the twelve with him,

2 y también algunas mujeres que habían sido sanadas de espíritus malignos y de enfermedades: María, a la que llamaban Magdalena, y de la que habían sido expulsados siete demonios;

and certain women, who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

3 J uana, la mujer de Chuza, el intendente de Herodes; Susana, y muchas otras que los atendían con sus propios recursos. Parábola del sembrador

and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who ministered unto him of their substance.

4 D e cada ciudad acudía gente para ver a Jesús. Al reunirse una gran multitud, Jesús les relató esta parábola:

¶ And when many people were gathered together and were come to him out of every city, he spoke by a parable:

5 « El sembrador salió a sembrar su semilla. Mientras sembraba, parte de ella cayó junto al camino, y fue pisoteada y las aves del cielo se la comieron.

A sower went out to sow his seed, and as he sowed, some fell along the way, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

6 O tra parte cayó sobre las piedras, pero al brotar se secó por falta de humedad.

And some fell upon the rock, and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away because it lacked moisture.

7 O tra parte cayó entre los espinos, pero la ahogaron los espinos que brotaron con ella.

And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it.

8 O tra parte cayó en buena tierra; y brotó y produjo una cosecha del ciento por uno.» Y levantando la voz, dijo: «El que tenga oídos para oír, que oiga.»

And some fell on good ground and sprang up and bore fruit a hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that has ears to hear, let him hear.

9 S us discípulos le preguntaron: «¿Qué significa esta parábola?»

And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

10 Y él les respondió: «A ustedes se les concede conocer los misterios del reino de Dios, pero a los otros se les habla en parábolas, para que viendo no vean, y oyendo no entiendan.

And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the others in parables that seeing they might not see and hearing they might not understand.

11 L a parábola significa lo siguiente: La semilla es la palabra de Dios.

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

12 L as semillas junto al camino son los que oyen, pero que luego viene el diablo y les quita del corazón la palabra, para que no crean y se salven.

Those along the way are those that hear; then comes the devil and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

13 L as que cayeron sobre las piedras son los que, al oír la palabra, la reciben con gozo, pero como no tienen raíces, creen por algún tiempo, pero al llegar la prueba se apartan.

Those on the rock are those that when they hear, receive the word with joy, but these have no root, who for a while believe and in time of temptation fall away.

14 L as que cayeron entre los espinos son los que oyen, pero se alejan y son ahogados por las preocupaciones, las riquezas y los placeres de la vida, y no dan fruto.

And that which fell among thorns are those who when they have heard go forth and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life and bring no fruit to perfection.

15 P ero la semilla que cayó en buena tierra representa a los que con corazón bueno y recto retienen la palabra oída, y dan una buena cosecha porque permanecen firmes. Nada hay oculto que no se manifieste

But that on the good ground are those who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it and bring forth fruit with patience.

16 » Nadie que enciende una luz la cubre con un cajón, ni la coloca debajo de la cama. Más bien, la pone en un candelero para que los que entren vean la luz.

No one when they have lighted a lamp cover it with a vessel or put it under a bed, but set it on a lampstand, that those who enter in may see the light.

17 P orque no hay nada oculto que no llegue a manifestarse, ni hay nada escondido que no haya de ser conocido y de salir a la luz.

For nothing is secret that shall not be made manifest, neither any thing hid that shall not be known and come to light.

18 E scúchenme bien: a todo el que tiene, se le dará; y al que no tiene, hasta lo que cree tener se le quitará.» La madre y los hermanos de Jesús

Take heed therefore how ye hear, for whosoever has, to him shall be given; and whosoever has not, from him shall be taken even that which he seems to have.

19 L a madre y los hermanos de Jesús fueron a donde él estaba, pero no podían acercarse a él por causa de la multitud.

Then his mother and his brethren came to him and could not get to him for the crowd.

20 A lguien le dijo: «Tu madre y tus hermanos están allí afuera, y quieren verte.»

And it was told him by certain who said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand outside, desiring to see thee.

21 P ero él respondió: «Mi madre y mis hermanos son los que oyen la palabra de Dios y la ponen en práctica.» Jesús calma la tempestad

And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word of God and do it.

22 U n día, Jesús abordó una barca con sus discípulos, y les dijo: «Pasemos al otro lado del lago.» Y así lo hicieron.

¶ Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples, and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

23 M ientras navegaban, Jesús se quedó dormido. Pero se desencadenó en el lago una tempestad con viento, de tal manera que la barca se inundó y corrían el peligro de naufragar.

But as they sailed, he fell asleep; and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were being filled with water and were in jeopardy.

24 L os discípulos despertaron a Jesús y le dijeron: «¡Maestro, Maestro, estamos por naufragar!» Entonces Jesús despertó, reprendió al viento y a las olas, y éstas se sosegaron, y todo quedó en calma.

And they came to him and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and there was a calm.

25 J esús les dijo: «¿Dónde está la fe de ustedes?» Pero ellos, temorosos y asombrados, se decían unos a otros: «¿Quién es éste, que hasta a los vientos y a las aguas les da órdenes, y lo obedecen?» El endemoniado geraseno

And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they, being afraid, wondered, saying one to another, Who is this! for he even commands the winds and the water, and they obey him.

26 D espués arribaron a la tierra de los gerasenos, que está en la ribera opuesta a Galilea.

And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.

27 C uando él llegó a tierra, vino a su encuentro un hombre de la ciudad que estaba endemoniado. Hacía mucho tiempo que no se vestía ni vivía en una casa, sino en los sepulcros.

And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, who had demons for a long time and wore no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

28 C uando el endemoniado vio a Jesús, se arrodilló delante de él, lanzó un fuerte grito, y le dijo: «Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo, ¿qué tienes que ver conmigo? ¡Te ruego que no me atormentes!»

When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

29 ( Y es que Jesús le ordenaba al espíritu impuro que saliera del hombre porque hacía mucho tiempo que se había apoderado de él. Aunque lo ataban con cadenas y grilletes, él rompía las cadenas y el demonio lo llevaba a lugares apartados.)

(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him, and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters, and he broke the bands and was driven of the demon into the wilderness.)

30 J esús le preguntó: «¿Cómo te llamas?» Y él respondió: «Legión.» Porque eran muchos los demonios que habían entrado en él,

And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion, because many demons were entered into him.

31 y le rogaban a Jesús que no los mandara al abismo.

And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the abyss.

32 C omo allí había un gran hato de cerdos que pacían en el monte, los demonios le rogaron a Jesús que los dejara entrar en ellos; y él les dio permiso.

And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain, and they besought him that he would allow them to enter into them. And he allowed them.

33 U na vez fuera del hombre, los demonios entraron en los cerdos, y éstos se lanzaron al lago por un despeñadero, y allí se ahogaron.

Then the demons went out of the man and entered into the swine, and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake and were choked.

34 C uando los que apacentaban los cerdos vieron lo sucedido, huyeron y fueron a contar todo esto en la ciudad y por los campos.

When those that fed them saw what was done, they fled and went and told it in the city and in the country.

35 L a gente salió a ver lo que había sucedido. Cuando llegaron a donde estaba Jesús, se encontraron con que el hombre, de quien habían salido los demonios, estaba sentado a los pies de Jesús, vestido y en su cabal juicio. Y tuvieron miedo.

Then they went out to see what was done and came to Jesus and found the man, out of whom the demons were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind; and they were afraid.

36 L os que habían visto todo esto, les contaron cómo había sido salvado el endemoniado.

And those who saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the demons was saved.

37 E ntonces toda la gente de la región de los gerasenos le rogó a Jesús que se alejara de ellos, pues tenían mucho miedo. Así que Jesús entró en la barca y se fue.

Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them, for they were taken with great fear; and he went up into the ship and returned back again.

38 E l hombre de quien habían salido los demonios le rogaba que lo dejara estar con él, pero Jesús lo despidió y le dijo:

Now the man out of whom the demons were departed besought him that he might be with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,

39 « Vuelve a tu casa, y cuenta allí todo lo que Dios ha hecho contigo.» Entonces el hombre se fue y contó por toda la ciudad lo que Jesús había hecho con él. La hija de Jairo, y la mujer que tocó el manto de Jesús

Return to thine own house and tell what great things God has done unto thee. And he went, preaching throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done unto him.

40 C uando Jesús regresó, la multitud lo recibió con alegría, pues todos lo estaban esperando.

¶ And it came to pass that when Jesus returned, the people received him, for they were all waiting for him.

41 L legó entonces un hombre llamado Jairo, que era jefe de la sinagoga. Este hombre se arrojó a los pies de Jesús y le rogó que fuera a su casa,

And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a prince of the synagogue, and he fell down at Jesus’ feet and besought him that he would come into his house;

42 p ues su única hija, que tenía como doce años, se estaba muriendo. Mientras Jesús se dirigía a la casa de Jairo, la multitud lo apretujaba.

for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay dying. But as he went, the people thronged him.

43 U na mujer, que hacía doce años padecía de hemorragias y había gastado en médicos todo lo que tenía, sin que ninguno hubiera podido curarla,

And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians but could not be healed by any,

44 s e le acercó por detrás y le tocó el borde del manto. Al instante, su hemorragia se detuvo.

came behind him and touched the border of his garment, and immediately her issue of blood stopped.

45 E ntonces Jesús dijo: «¿Quién me ha tocado?» Todos negaban haberlo tocado, así que Pedro y los que estaban con él le dijeron: «Maestro, son muchos los que te aprietan y te oprimen.»

Then Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and those that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46 P ero Jesús dijo: «Alguien me ha tocado. Yo sé bien que de mí ha salido poder.»

And Jesus said, Someone has touched me, for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

47 C uando la mujer se vio descubierta, se acercó temblorosa y se arrojó a los pies de Jesús, y delante de todo el pueblo le contó por qué lo había tocado, y cómo al instante había sido sanada.

And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediately.

48 E ntonces Jesús le dijo: «Hija, tu fe te ha sanado. Ve en paz.»

And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith has made thee whole; go in peace.

49 M ientras Jesús hablaba, alguien de la casa del jefe de la sinagoga llegó a decirle: «Tu hija ha muerto. No molestes más al Maestro.»

While he yet spoke, there came one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.

50 C uando Jesús oyó ésto, le dijo: «No temas. Sólo debes creer, y tu hija será sanada.»

But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not; only believe, and she shall be made whole.

51 J esús entró en la casa y no dejó que nadie entrara con él, excepto Pedro, Jacobo y Juan, y los padres de la niña.

And when he came into the house, he allowed no one to go in except Peter and James and John and the father and the mother of the maiden.

52 T odos estaban llorando y se lamentaban por ella. Pero él les dijo: «No lloren, que no está muerta, sino dormida.»

And all wept and bewailed her, but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleeps.

53 L a gente se burlaba de él, pues sabían que la niña estaba muerta;

And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

54 p ero él la tomó de la mano, y con fuerte voz le dijo: «Niña, ¡levántate!»

And he put them all out and took her by the hand and called, saying, Maid, arise.

55 L a niña volvió a la vida, y enseguida se levantó, y Jesús mandó que le dieran de comer.

Then her spirit returned, and she arose straightway, and he commanded to give her food.

56 S us padres estaban atónitos, pero Jesús les mandó que no dijeran a nadie lo que había sucedido.

And her parents were astonished, but he charged them that they should tell no one what was done.
