1 « Dinos tú, bella mujer, ¿a dónde se ha ido tu amado? ¿A dónde se apartó tu amado, para que contigo vayamos a buscarlo?»

¶ Where has thy beloved gone, O thou fairest among women? where didst thy beloved separate himself? that we may seek him with thee.

2 « Mi amado está ahora en su jardín, entre los surcos de las especias; se recuesta en los jardines y recoge lirios.

My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather the lilies.

3 Y o soy de mi amado, y mi amado es mío; ¡él se recuesta entre los lirios!»

I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine; he feeds among the lilies.

4 E res hermosa como Tirsa, amiga mía, y deseable como Jerusalén; ¡majestuosa como las huestes celestiales!

¶ Thou art beautiful, O my love, as Tirzah, as desirable as Jerusalem, imposing as the standard-bearer of the army.

5 ¡ Desvía de mí tus miradas, que tus ojos me subyugan! Son tus cabellos como las cabritas que descienden de los montes de Galaad.

Turn away thine eyes from me, for they have overcome me; thy hair is as a flock of goats that appear from Gilead.

6 C omparables son tus dientes a un rebaño de blancas ovejas. Todas ellas tienen su pareja; ningún espacio dejan vacío.

Thy teeth are as a flock of sheep which go up from the washing, of which every one bears twins, and there is not one barren among them.

7 T us mejillas son dos gajos de granada que se asoman tras el velo.

As slices of pomegranate are thy temples within thy locks.

8 P uede haber sesenta reinas, y hasta ochenta concubinas y un sin número de doncellas,

There are sixty queens, and eighty concubines, and virgins without number.

9 p ero la paloma que poseo es única y perfecta. Es la hija única y predilecta de la madre que la vio nacer. Las doncellas la ven, y la bendicen; ¡las reinas y las concubinas la alaban!

My dove is but one, my perfect one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that brought her into the light. The virgins saw her and called her blessed; yea, the queens and the concubines and they praised her.

10 ¿ Quién es ésta que aparece como la luz de un nuevo día? Bella es, como la luna; también radiante, como el sol; ¡majestuosa como las huestes celestiales!

Who is she that shows herself forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and imposing as the standard-bearer of the army?

11 Y o bajé al jardín de los nogales, para contemplar los frutos del valle y ver si ya brotaban las vides y florecían los granados;

¶ I went down into the garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley, and to see whether the vines flourished, and the pomegranates budded.

12 ¡ pero antes de darme cuenta me vi entre los carros de Aminadab!

Or ever I was aware, my soul made me return like the chariots of Amminadib.

13 ¡ Regresa, Sulamita, regresa! ¡Regresa, que deseamos contemplarte! ¿Pero qué desean ver en la Sulamita? ¿Acaso una danza de dos campamentos?

Return, return, O Shulamite; return, return, that we may look upon thee. What will ye see in the Shulamite? She shall be as a multitude of tabernacles.
