1 ¡ Qué hermosa eres, amiga mía! ¡Qué hermosa eres! Son tus ojos dos palomas que se asoman tras el velo, y tus cabellos, un rebaño de cabritos que desciende de los montes de Galaad.

¶ Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes within thy locks; thy hair is as a flock of goats that appear from Mount Gilead.

2 C omparables son tus dientes a un rebaño de blancas ovejas recién bañadas y trasquiladas. Todas ellas tienen su pareja; ningún espacio dejan vacío.

Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; of which every one bear twins, and none is barren among them.

3 T us labios son un hilo carmesí, y tus palabras son cautivadoras. Tus mejillas son dos gajos de granada que se asoman tras el velo.

Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is lovely; thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.

4 T u cuello, cual la torre de David, es de elegante estructura; de esa torre penden mil escudos, ¡todos ellos escudos de valientes!

Thy neck is like the tower of David built for teaching, upon which there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men.

5 S on tus pechos dos cervatos gemelos, que reposan entre los lirios.

Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which are fed among the lilies.

6 H asta que llegue el día y las sombras se disipen, quiero ir al monte de la mirra; quiero ir a la colina del incienso.

Until the day breaks, and the shadows flee away, I will go to the mountain of myrrh and to the hill of frankincense.

7 T oda tú eres hermosa, amiga mía; no tienes ningún defecto.

Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.

8 A compáñame desde el Líbano, esposa mía; acompáñame desde el Líbano. Baja conmigo de la cumbre del Amana, bajemos de la cumbre del Senir y del Hermón; donde están las guaridas de los leones, donde están las cuevas de los leopardos.

¶ With me from Lebanon, my spouse, thou shalt come with me from Lebanon; thou shalt look from the top of Amana, from the top of Shenir and Hermon, from the lions’ dens, from the mountains of the leopards.

9 H ermana y esposa mía, con una sola mirada tuya y con un solo hilo de tu collar me robaste el corazón.

Thou hast taken hold of my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast imprisoned my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck.

10 H ermana y esposa mía, ¡cuán deliciosas son tus caricias! ¡Son más deliciosas que el vino! ¡Es más dulce el olor de tus perfumes que el de todas las especias aromáticas!

How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices!

11 D e tus labios fluye miel, esposa mía; leche y miel hay debajo de tu lengua. La fragancia de tus vestidos evoca la fragancia del monte Líbano.

Thy lips, O my spouse, drip as the honeycomb; honey and milk are under thy tongue, and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

12 E res un jardín cercado, hermana y esposa mía; eres cerrada fuente, ¡sellado manantial!

A closed garden is my sister, my spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.

13 E res un jardín de granados, donde crecen frutos exquisitos, y flores de alheña y nardos;

Thy newly budded plants are a paradise of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; camphire, with spikenard,

14 n ardo y azafrán, cálamo y canela, toda clase de árboles de incienso, y mirra y áloes, y las más finas especias.

spikenard and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices:

15 E res fuente de los jardines, eres pozo de aguas vivas que fluyen desde el Líbano.

¶ A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, that flow from Lebanon.

16 ¡ Levántate, viento del norte! ¡Ven acá, viento del sur! ¡Vengan y soplen en mi jardín, para que se esparzan sus aromas! ¡Ven, amado mío, a tu jardín y deléitate con sus dulces frutos!

Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden that the aroma of its spices may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his sweet fruits.
