1 П ритчи на Давидовия син Соломон, Израелев цар,

The proverbs (truths obscurely expressed, maxims, and parables) of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:

2 з аписани, за да познае някой мъдрост и поука, за да разбере благоразумни думи,

That people may know skillful and godly Wisdom and instruction, discern and comprehend the words of understanding and insight,

3 з а да приеме поука за мъдро постъпване в правда, правосъдие и справедливост,

Receive instruction in wise dealing and the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, righteousness, justice, and integrity,

4 з а да се даде остроумие на простите, знание и разсъждение на младежа,

That prudence may be given to the simple, and knowledge, discretion, and discernment to the youth—

5 з а да слуша мъдрият и да стане по-мъдър, и за да достигне разумният здрави съвети,

The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel —

6 з а да се разбират притча и иносказание, изреченията на мъдрите и гатанките им.

That people may understand a proverb and a figure of speech or an enigma with its interpretation, and the words of the wise and their dark sayings or riddles.

7 С трахът от Господа е начало на мъдростта; но безумните презират мъдростта и поуката. Съвет към младите хора

The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline.

8 С ине мой, слушай поуката на баща си и не отхвърляй наставлението на майка си,

My son, hear the instruction of your father; reject not nor forsake the teaching of your mother.

9 з ащото те ще бъдат благодатен венец за главата ти и огърлица около шията ти.

For they are a chaplet (garland) of grace upon your head and chains and pendants for your neck.

10 С ине мой, ако грешните те прилъгват, не се съгласявай!

My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

11 А ко кажат: Ела с нас, нека поставим засада за кръвопролитие, нека причакаме без причина невинния,

If they say, Come with us; let us lie in wait blood, let us ambush the innocent without cause;

12 к акто адът нека ги погълнем живи, даже съвършените, като онези, които слизат в рова,

Let us swallow them up alive as does Sheol (the place of the dead), and whole, as those who go down into the pit;

13 щ е намерим всякакъв скъпоценен имот, ще напълним къщите си с плячка,

We shall find and take all kinds of precious goods, we shall fill our houses with plunder;

14 щ е хвърлиш жребия си като един от нас, една кесия ще имаме всички, -

Throw in your lot with us and be a sworn brother and comrade; let us all have one purse in common—

15 с ине мой, не ходи на път с тях, въздържай крака си от пътеката им,

My son, do not walk in the way with them; restrain your foot from their path;

16 з ащото техните крака тичат към злото и бързат да проливат кръв.

For their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood.

17 З ащото напразно се разтяга мрежа пред очите на каквато и да било птица.

For in vain is the net spread in the sight of any bird!

18 И тези поставят засада против своята си кръв, причакват собствения си живот.

But they are lying in wait for their own blood; they set an ambush for their own lives.

19 Т акива са пътищата на всеки сребролюбец: сребролюбието отнема живота на завладените от него. Призивът на мъдростта

So are the ways of everyone who is greedy of gain; such takes away the lives of its possessors.

20 П ревъзходната мъдрост прогласява по улиците, издига гласа си по площадите,

Wisdom cries aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the markets;

21 в ика по главните места на пазарите, при входовете на портите, възвестява из града думите си:

She cries at the head of the noisy intersections; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks:

22 Г лупави, докога ще обичате глупостта? Присмивателите докога ще се наслаждават на насмешките си и безумните ще мразят знанието?

How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? And the scoffers delight in scoffing and fools hate knowledge?

23 О бърнете се при изобличението ми. Ето, аз ще излея духа си на вас, ще ви направя да разберете словата ми.

If you will turn (repent) and give heed to my reproof, behold, I '> Wisdom] will pour out my spirit upon you, I will make my words known to you.

24 П онеже аз виках, а вие отказахте да слушате, понеже протягах ръката си, а никой не внимаваше,

Because I have called and you have refused, have stretched out my hand and no man has heeded it,

25 н о отхвърлихте съвета ми и не приехте изобличението ми -

And you treated as nothing all my counsel and would accept none of my reproof,

26 т о и аз ще се смея на вашето бедствие, ще се присмея, когато ви нападне страхът,

I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when the thing comes that shall cause you terror and panic—

27 к огато ви нападне страхът - като опустошителна буря, и бедствието ви се устреми като вихрушка, когато скръб и мъка ви нападнат,

When your panic comes as a storm and desolation and your calamity comes on as a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.

28 т огава те ще призоват, но аз няма да отговоря, ревностно ще ме търсят, но няма да ме намерят.

Then will they call upon me but I will not answer; they will seek me early and diligently but they will not find me.

29 П онеже намразиха знанието и не разбраха страха от Господа,

Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord,

30 н е приеха съвета ми и презряха цялото ми изобличение,

Would accept none of my counsel, and despised all my reproof,

31 з атова ще ядат от плодовете на своя си път и ще се наситят от своите си измислици.

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way and be satiated with their own devices.

32 З ащото глупавите ще бъдат умъртвени от собственото си отстъпване и безумните ще бъдат погубени от своето си безгрижие.

For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, and the careless ease of fools shall destroy them.

33 А всеки, който ме слуша, ще живее в безопасност и ще бъде спокоен, без да се бои от зло.

But whoso hearkens to me shall dwell securely and in confident trust and shall be quiet, without fear or dread of evil.
