1 Р азрушителят излезе пред лицето ти; пазѝ крепостта, бди за пътя, стегни кръста си, уякчи силно мощта си.

4 К олесниците буйстват по улиците, блъскат се една с друга по площадите; изгледът им е като факли, летят като светкавица.

5 Т ой си припомня за юнаците си; но те се подхлъзват по пътя си; тичат към стените му и покривалото се приготвя.

6 Р ечните порти се отварят и палатът се разрушава.

7 Р ешено е да се плени Ниневия и да се пресели; и слугините ѝ стенат подобно на гласа на гълъбите, когато се бият по гърдите си.

It is decreed. She is stripped and removed, and her maids are lamenting and moaning like doves, beating upon their breasts.

8 Н о макар Ниневия да е била отдавна пълна с мъже, както езеро с вода, те пак бягат; макар че викат: Стойте! Стойте!, пак никой не поглежда назад.

And Nineveh, like a standing pool are her waters and are fleeing away! Stand! Stand, but no one looks back or causes them to return.

9 О бирайте среброто, обирайте златото; защото съкровищата ѝ са безгранични, има богатство от всякакви отбрани вещи.

Take the spoil of silver; take the spoil of gold! For there is no end of the treasure, the glory and wealth of all the precious furnishings.

10 Т я се изпразни, изтърси и запустя; сърцето се топи и колената се удрят едно о̀ друго, болки има във всеки кръст, а лицата на всички са побледнели.

Emptiness! Desolation! Utter waste! Hearts faint and knees smite together, and anguish is in all loins, and the faces of all grow pale!

11 К ъде е ровът на лъвовете и мястото, където младите лъвове се хранеха, където ходеха лъвът, лъвицата и лъвчето и нямаше кой да ги плаши?

Where is the den of the lions which was the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked, and the lion’s whelp, and none made them afraid?

12 К ъде е лъвът, който разкъсваше достатъчно храна за лъвчетата си, даваше за лъвиците си и пълнеше пещерите си с плячка и рововете си - с грабеж?

The lion tore in pieces enough for his whelps and strangled for his lionesses; he filled his caves with prey and his dens with what he had seized and carried off.

13 Е то, Аз съм против тебе, казва Господ на Силите; ще изгоря колесниците ти сред дим и мечът ще изпояде младите ти лъвове; ще изтребя плячката ти от земята; и няма да се чуе гласът на пратениците ти.

Behold, I am against you, says the Lord of hosts, and I will burn your chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions. And I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall no more be heard.
