1 А з съм човекът, който видях скръб от тоягата на Неговия гняв.

I am the man who has seen affliction under the rod of His wrath.

2 Т ой ме е водил и завел в тъмнина, а не в светлина.

He has led me and brought me into darkness and not light.

3 Н авярно против мен обръща повторно ръката Си всеки ден.

Surely He has turned away from me; His hand is against me all the day.

4 З астари плътта и кожата ми; строши костите ми.

My flesh and my skin has He worn out and made old; He has shattered my bones.

5 И здигна против мен укрепления; и ме окръжи с горест и труд.

He has built up against me and surrounded me with bitterness, tribulation, and anguish.

6 С ложи ме да седна в тъмнина като отдавна умрелите.

He has caused me to dwell in dark places like those long dead.

7 О бгради ме и не мога да изляза; отегчи веригите ми.

He walled me in so that I cannot get out; He has weighted down my chain.

8 О ще и когато викам и ридая, Той отблъсва молитвата ми.

Even when I cry and shout for help, He shuts out my prayer.

9 О гради с дялани камъни пътищата ми; изкриви пътеките ми.

He has enclosed my ways with hewn stone; He has made my paths crooked.

10 С тана за мене като мечка в засада, като лъв в скришни места.

He is to me like a bear lying in wait, and like a lion in secret places.

11 О тби настрана пътищата ми и ме разкъса; направи ме пуст.

He has turned me off my ways and pulled me in pieces; He has made me desolate.

12 О пъна лъка Си и ме постави като прицел на стрела,

He has bent His bow and set me as a mark for the arrow.

13 з аби в бъбреците ми стрелите на колчана Си.

He has caused the arrows of His quiver to enter into my heart.

14 С танах за присмех на целия си народ и за песен на тях цял ден.

I have become a derision to all my people, and their singsong all the day.

15 Н асити ме с горчивини; опи ме с пелин.

He has filled me with bitterness; He has made me drink to excess and until drunken with wormwood.

16 П ри това счупи зъбите ми с камъчета; покри ме с пепел.

He has also broken my teeth with gravel (stones); He has covered me with ashes.

17 О тблъснал си душата ми далеч от мира; забравих благоденствието.

And You have bereaved my soul and cast it off far from peace; I have forgotten what good and happiness are.

18 И казах: Погина увереността ми и надеждата ми като отдалечена от Господа.

And I say, Perished is my strength and my expectation from the Lord.

19 П омни скръбта ми и изгонването ми, пелина и жлъчката.

remember my affliction and my misery, my wandering and my outcast state, the wormwood and the gall.

20 Д ушата ми, като ги помни непрестанно, се е смирила дълбоко.

My soul has them continually in remembrance and is bowed down within me.

21 О баче това си наумявам, поради което имам и надежда:

But this I recall and therefore have I hope and expectation:

22 ч е по милост Господня ние не бяхме довършени, понеже не чезнат щедростите Му.

It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.

23 Т е се подновяват всяка сутрин; голяма е Твоята вярност.

They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness.

24 Г оспод е мой дял, казва душата ми; затова ще се надявам на Него.

The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him.

25 Б лаг е Господ към онези, които Го чакат, към душата, която Го търси.

The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him.

26 Д обро е да се надява някой и тихо да очаква спасението от Господа.

It is good that one should hope in and wait quietly for the salvation (the safety and ease) of the Lord.

27 Д обро е за човека да носи хомот в младостта си.

It is good for a man that he should bear the yoke in his youth.

28 Н ека седи насаме и мълчи, когато Господ му го наложи.

Let him sit alone uncomplaining and keeping silent, because has laid upon him.

29 Н ека сложи устата си в пръстта, дано има още надежда.

Let him put his mouth in the dust —there may yet be hope.

30 Н ека подаде бузата си на онзи, който го бие; нека се насити с укор.

Let him give his cheek to the One Who smites him; let him be filled with reproach.

31 З ащото Господ не отхвърля довека.

For the Lord will not cast off forever!

32 П онеже, ако и да наскърби, Той пак ще и да се съжали според многото Си милости.

But though He causes grief, yet will He be moved to compassion according to the multitude of His loving-kindness and tender mercy.

33 З ащото не оскърбява, нито огорчава от сърце човешките деца.

For He does not willingly and from His heart afflict or grieve the children of men.

34 Д а се тъпчат с крака всичките затворници на света,

To trample and crush underfoot all the prisoners of the earth,

35 д а се извръща съдът на човека пред лицето на Всевишния,

To turn aside and deprive a man of his rights before the face of the Most High or a superior,

36 д а се онеправдава човекът в делото му - Господ не одобрява това.

To subvert a man in his cause— the Lord does not approve.

37 К ой ще е онзи, който казва нещо и то става, без да го е заповядал Господ?

Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, if the Lord has not authorized and commanded it?

38 О т устата на Всевишния не излизат ли и злото, и доброто?

Is it not out of the mouth of the Most High that evil and good both proceed ?

39 З ащо би възроптал жив човек, всеки за наказанието на греховете си?

Why does a living man sigh ? a man complain for the punishment of his sins?

40 Н ека издирим и изпитаме пътищата си и нека се върнем при Господа.

Let us test and examine our ways, and let us return to the Lord!

41 Н ека издигнем сърцата и ръцете си към Бога, Който е на небесата, и нека кажем:

Let us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven:

42 С ъгрешихме и отстъпихме; Ти не си ни простил.

We have transgressed and rebelled and You have not pardoned.

43 П окрил си се с гняв и си ни гонил; убил си, без да пощадиш.

You have covered Yourself with wrath and pursued and afflicted us; You have slain without pity.

44 П окрил си се с облак, за да не премине молитвата ни.

You have covered Yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can pass through.

45 Н аправил си ни като помия и смет сред племената.

You have made us offscouring and refuse among the nations.

46 В сичките ни неприятели отвориха широко устата си против нас.

All our enemies have gaped at us and railed against us.

47 С трахът и пропастта ни налетяха, запустение и разорение.

Fear and pitfall have come upon us, devastation and destruction.

48 В одни потоци излива окото ми поради разорението на дъщерята на народа ми.

My eyes overflow with streams of tears because of the destruction of the daughter of my people.

49 О кото ми пролива сълзи и не престава, защото няма отрада,

My eyes overflow continually and will not cease

50 д окато не се наведе Господ и не погледне от небесата.

Until the Lord looks down and sees from heaven.

51 О кото ми прави душата ми да ме боли поради всички дъщери на града ми.

My eyes cause me grief at the fate of all the maidens of my city.

52 О нези, които са ми неприятели без причина, ме гонят непрестанно като птиче.

I have been hunted down like a bird by those who were my enemies without cause.

53 О тнеха живота ми в тъмницата и хвърлиха камък върху мене.

They destroyed my life in the dungeon (pit) and cast a stone above me.

54 В оди стигнаха над главата ми; казах: Свърших се.

The waters ran down on my head; I said, I am gone.

55 П ризовах името Ти, Господи, от най-дълбоката тъмница.

I called upon Your name, O Lord, out of the depths of the dungeon.

56 Т и чу гласа ми; не затваряй ухото Си за въздишките ми, за вопъла ми;

You heard my voice: hide not Your ear at my prayer for relief.

57 п риближил си се в деня, когато Те призовах, казал си: Не бой се.

You drew near on the day I called to You; You said, Fear not.

58 З астъпил си се, Господи, за делото на душата ми; изкупил си живота ми.

O Lord, You have pleaded the causes of my soul; You have rescued and redeemed my life!

59 В идял си, Господи, онеправданието ми; отсъди делото ми.

O Lord, You have seen my wrong; judge and maintain my cause.

60 В идял си всичките им отмъщения и всичките им замисли против мене.

You have seen all their vengeance, all their devices against me.

61 Т и си чул, Господи, укоряването им и всичките им замисли против мене,

You have heard their reproach and revilings, O Lord, and all their devices against me—

62 д умите на онези, които се повдигат против мене цял ден.

The lips and thoughts of my assailants are against me all day long.

63 В иж, когато седят и когато стават, аз съм им песен.

Look at their sitting down and their rising up; I am their singsong.

64 Щ е им въздадеш, Господи, въздаяние според делата на ръцете им;

Render to them a recompense, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.

65 щ е им дадеш, като клетвата Си върху тях, окаменено сърце;

You will give them hardness and blindness of heart; Your curse will be upon them.

66 щ е ги прогониш с гняв и ще ги изтребиш изпод небесата Господни.

You will pursue and afflict them in anger and destroy them from under Your heavens, O Lord.
