1 П ървата повест написах, о, Теофиле, за всичко, което Исус вършеше и учеше, откакто започна,

In the former account, O Theophilus, I made dealing with all the things which Jesus began to do and to teach

2 д о деня, когато се възнесе, след като даде чрез Святия Дух заповеди на апостолите, които беше избрал;

Until the day when He ascended, after He through the Holy Spirit had instructed and commanded the apostles (special messengers) whom He had chosen.

3 н а които и представи Себе Си жив след страданието Си с много верни доказателства, като им се явяваше в продължение на четиридесет дни и им говореше за Божието царство.

To them also He showed Himself alive after His passion (His suffering in the garden and on the cross) by many convincing demonstrations, appearing to them during forty days and talking about the things of the kingdom of God.

4 И като се събираше с тях, заръча им да не напускат Йерусалим, но да чакат обещанието на Отца, за което, каза Той, чухте от Мене.

And while being in their company and eating with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait for what the Father had promised, Of which you have heard Me speak.

5 З ащото Йоан кръщаваше с вода, а вие ще бъдете кръстени със Святия Дух не след много дни. Възнесението на Исус Христос

For John baptized with water, but not many days from now you shall be baptized with ( placed in, introduced into) the Holy Spirit.

6 И така, веднъж, като се събраха, те Го питаха: Господи, сега ли ще възстановиш царството на Израел?

So when they were assembled, they asked Him, Lord, is this the time when You will reestablish the kingdom and restore it to Israel?

7 Т ой им каза: Не е за вас да знаете години или времена, които Отец е положил в собствената Си власт.

He said to them, It is not for you to become acquainted with and know what time brings or fixed years and seasons (their critical niche in time), which the Father has appointed (fixed and reserved) by His own choice and authority and personal power.

8 Н о ще приемете сила, когато дойде върху вас Святият Дух, и ще бъдете свидетели за Мене както в Йерусалим, така и в цяла Юдея и Самария, и до края на земята.

But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.

9 И като каза това и те Го гледаха, Той се възнесе и облак Го подхвана и скри от погледа им.

And when He had said this, even as they were looking, He was caught up, and a cloud received and carried Him away out of their sight.

10 И като се взираха към небето, когато се възнасяше, ето, двама мъже в бели дрехи застанаха до тях

And while they were gazing intently into heaven as He went, behold, two men in white robes suddenly stood beside them,

11 и казаха: Галилеяни, защо стоите и гледате към небето? Този Исус, Който се възнесе от вас на небето, ще дойде така, както Го видяхте да отива на небето. Избирането на Матия за апостол

Who said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing into heaven? This same Jesus, Who was caught away and lifted up from among you into heaven, will return in the same way in which you saw Him go into heaven.

12 Т огава те се върнаха в Йерусалим от хълма, наречен Елеонски, който е близо до Йерусалим, на разстояние един съботен ден път.

Then went back to Jerusalem from the hill called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey (three-quarters of a mile) away.

13 И когато влязоха в града, качиха се в горната стая, където пребиваваха Петър и Йоан, Яков и Андрей, Филип и Тома, Вартоломей и Матей, Яков Алфеев и Симон Зилот, и Юда Яковов.

And when they had entered, they mounted to the upper room where they were '> indefinitely] staying—Peter and John and James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas of James.

14 В сички те единодушно бяха в постоянна молитва (и моление) с някои жени и Мария, майката на Исус, и с братята Му.

All of these with their minds in full agreement devoted themselves steadfastly to prayer, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

15 П рез тези дни Петър се изправи насред братята (а имаше събрано множество, около сто и двадесет души) и каза:

Now on one of those days Peter arose among the brethren, the whole number of whom gathered together was about a hundred and twenty.

16 Б ратя, трябваше да се изпълни писаното, което Святият Дух предсказа чрез устата на Давид за Юда, който доведе онези, които хванаха Исус.

Brethren, he said, it was necessary that the Scripture be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit foretold by the lips of David, about Judas who acted as guide to those who arrested Jesus.

17 З ащото той беше причислен към нас и получи дял в това служение.

For he was counted among us and received his portion in this ministry.

18 Т ой обаче придоби нива от заплатата на своята неправда; и като падна по лице, пукна се в средата и всичките му черва изтекоха.

Now this man obtained a piece of land with the reward for his treachery and wickedness, and falling headlong he burst open in the middle and all his intestines poured forth.

19 И това стана известно на всичките йерусалимски жители, така че тази нива бе наречена на техния език Акелдама, т. е. Кръвна нива.

And all the residents of Jerusalem became acquainted with the facts, so that they called the piece of land in their own dialect—Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.

20 З ащото е писано в книгата на Псалмите: "Жилището му да запустее и да няма кой да живее в него"; и: "Друг нека вземе чина му."

For in the book of Psalms it is written, Let his place of residence become deserted and gloomy, and let there be no one to live in it; and, Let another take his position or overseership.

21 И така, от човеците, които дружаха с нас през цялото време, когато Господ Исус влизаше и излизаше сред нас,

So one of the men who have accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

22 к ато се почне от дните, когато Йоан кръщаваше, и се стигне до деня, когато се възнесе от нас, един от тях трябва да стане свидетел с нас на възкресението Му.

From the baptism of John at the outset until the day when He was taken up from among us—one of these men must join with us and become a witness to testify to His resurrection.

23 И така, определиха двама: Йосиф, наречен Варсава, който носеше и името Юст, и Матия.

And they accordingly proposed (nominated) two men, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

24 И се помолиха със следните думи: Ти, Господи, Който познаваш сърцата на всички, покажи онзи от тези двама, когото си избрал,

And they prayed and said, You, Lord, Who know all hearts ( their thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, purposes, and endeavors), indicate to us which one of these two You have chosen

25 д а приеме своя дял в това служение и апостолство, от което отстъпи Юда, за да отиде на своето място.

To take the place in this ministry and receive the position of an apostle, from which Judas fell away and went astray to go to his own place.

26 И хвърлиха жребий за тях и жребият се падна на Матия; и той бе причислен към единадесетте апостоли.

And they drew lots, and the lot fell on Matthias; and he was added to and counted with the eleven apostles (special messengers).
