1 Ч овекът, роден от жена, е кратковременен и пълен със смущение.

Man who is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

2 Ц ъфти като цвят и се покосява; бяга като сянка и не се държи.

He comes forth like a flower and withers; he flees also like a shadow and continues not.

3 И върху такъв ли отваряш очите Си и ме караш на съд с Тебе?

And do You open Your eyes upon such a one, and bring me into judgment with You?

4 К ой може да извади чисто от нечисто? Никой.

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? No one!

5 Т ъй като дните му са определени и броят на месеците му е в Теб, и Ти си поставил границите му, които не може да премине,

Since a man’s days are already determined, and the number of his months is wholly in Your control, and he cannot pass the bounds of his allotted time—

6 о твърни погледа Си от него, за да си почине, докато като наемник доизкара деня си.

turn from him; let him rest until he has accomplished as does a hireling the appointed time for his day.

7 З ащото за дървото има надежда, че ако бъде отсечено, пак ще поникне и че издънката му няма да изчезне

For there is hope for a tree if it is cut down, that it will sprout again and that the tender shoots of it will not cease.

8 д аже ако коренът му остарее в земята и ако пънът му умре в пръстта;

Though its roots grow old in the earth and its stock dies in the ground,

9 п онеже от дъха на водата ще поникне и ще покара клончета като новопосадено.

Yet through the scent of water will bud and bring forth boughs like a young plant.

10 Н о човек умира и прехожда. Да! Човек издъхва и къде е той?

But man must die and lie prostrate; yes, man breathes his last, and where is he?

11 К акто водите чезнат в морето и реката престава и пресъхва,

As waters evaporate from the lake, and the river drains and dries up,

12 т ака човек ляга и не става вече; докато небесата не преминат, те няма да се събудят и няма да станат от съня си.

So man lies down and does not rise. Till the heavens are no more, men will not awake nor be raised out of their sleep.

13 О , да ме беше скрил Ти в преизподнята, да ме беше покрил, докато премине гневът Ти, да ми определеше срок и тогава да би си спомнил за мен!

Oh, that You would hide me in Sheol (the unseen state), that You would conceal me until Your wrath is past, that You would set a definite time and then remember me earnestly!

14 А ко умре човек, ще оживее ли? През всичките дни на воюването си ще чакам, докато дойде промяната ми.

If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my warfare and service I will wait, till my change and release shall come.

15 Щ е повикаш и аз ще Ти се отзова; ще пожелаеш делото на ръцете Си.

You would call and I would answer You; You would yearn for the work of Your hands.

16 А сега броиш стъпките ми; не наблюдаваш ли греховете ми?

But now You number each of my steps and take note of my every sin.

17 П рестъплението ми е запечатано във вързоп и зашиваш беззаконието ми.

My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and You glue up my iniquity.

18 Н аистина, както и планината, като пада, се унищожава и скалата се премества от мястото си;

But as a mountain, if it falls, crumbles to nothing, and as the rock is removed out of its place,

19 к акто водите изтриват камъните и наводненията им завличат пръстта от земята, така Ти погубваш надеждата на човека.

As waters wear away the stones and as floods wash away the soil of the earth, so You destroy the hope of man.

20 Н адделяваш винаги над него и той прехожда; изменяш лицето му и го отпращаш.

You prevail forever against him, and he passes on; You change his appearance and send him away.

21 С иновете му достигат до почитание, а той не знае; и са свалени, а той не забелязва това за тях;

His sons come to honor, and he knows it not; they are brought low, and he perceives it not.

22 з нае само, че плътта му е за него в болки и душата му е за него в жалеене.

But his body shall grieve over him, and his soul shall mourn.
