1 Е фрем се храни с вятър и гони източния вятър; непрестанно умножава лъжите и насилието; сключват завет с асирийците и занасят дървено масло в Египет.

Ephraim herds and feeds on the wind and pursues the east wind; every day he increases lies and violence, and a covenant is made with Assyria and oil is carried to Egypt.

2 О ще - Господ има спор с Юда и ще накаже Яков според постъпките му, според делата му ще му въздаде.

The Lord has also a controversy (a pleading contention) with Judah, and will punish Jacob by visiting upon him according to his ways; according to his doings will He recompense him.

3 В утробата той хвана петата на брат си и като мъж се бори с Бога.

He took his brother by the heel in womb, and in the strength he contended and had power with God.

4 Д а! Бори се с ангел и надделя с плач и молба към него. Бог го намери във Ветил и там говорѝ с нас.

Yes, he had power over the Angel and prevailed; he wept and sought His favor. He met Him in Bethel, and there spoke with us—

5 Д а! Йехова, Бог на Силите, Чието паметно име е Йехова.

Even the Lord the God of hosts, the name of Him is the Lord.

6 З атова се обърни към твоя Бог, пази милост и правосъдие и винаги се надявай на твоя Бог.

Therefore return to your God! Hold fast to love and mercy, to righteousness and justice, and wait for your God continually!

7 Е фрем е търговец; неточни везни има в ръката му; той обича да мами.

Canaan is a trader; the balances of deceit are in his hand; he loves to oppress and defraud.

8 И Ефрем си каза: Наистина аз се обогатих, придобих си имот; относно всичките ми трудове няма да се намери у мене беззаконие, което да се смята за грях.

Ephraim has said, Ah, but I have become rich; I have gained for myself wealth. All my profits shall bring on me no iniquity that would be sin.

9 А Аз съм Господ, твоят Бог, от времето, когато ти беше в Египетската земя; пак ще те заселя в шатри като в празничните дни.

But I am the Lord your God from the land of Egypt will yet make you to dwell in tents, as in the days of the appointed and solemn Feast.

10 Г оворих още и чрез пророците и им явих много видения; и чрез думите на пророците си служих със сравнения.

I have also spoken to the prophets, and I have multiplied visions and through parables acted out by the prophets.

11 Е то, в Галаад има беззаконие; станаха съвсем суетни; в Галгал жертват телета; и жертвениците им са многобройни като куповете тор в браздите на нивите.

If Gilead is given over to idolatry, they shall come to nought and be mere waste; if they sacrificing bullocks in Gilgal, their altars shall be like heaps in the furrows of the fields.

12 А Яков побегна в сирийското поле; Израел е работил за жена и за жена е пазил овце.

Jacob fled into the open country of Aram or Padan-aram, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he herded sheep.

13 Ч рез пророк Господ изведе Израел от Египет; и чрез пророк той беше опазен.

And by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was preserved.

14 Е фрем разгневи Бога много горчиво; затова ще оставя върху него пролятата от него кръв и неговият Господ ще възвърне укора му върху самия него.

Ephraim has provoked most bitter anger; therefore shall his blood be left upon him, and his disgrace and reproach shall his Lord return upon him.
