1 T he proverbs (truths obscurely expressed, maxims, and parables) of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:

Притчи на Давидовия син Соломон, Израелев цар,

2 T hat people may know skillful and godly Wisdom and instruction, discern and comprehend the words of understanding and insight,

записани, за да познае някой мъдрост и поука, за да разбере благоразумни думи,

3 R eceive instruction in wise dealing and the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, righteousness, justice, and integrity,

за да приеме поука за мъдро постъпване в правда, правосъдие и справедливост,

4 T hat prudence may be given to the simple, and knowledge, discretion, and discernment to the youth—

за да се даде остроумие на простите, знание и разсъждение на младежа,

5 T he wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel —

за да слуша мъдрият и да стане по-мъдър, и за да достигне разумният здрави съвети,

6 T hat people may understand a proverb and a figure of speech or an enigma with its interpretation, and the words of the wise and their dark sayings or riddles.

за да се разбират притча и иносказание, изреченията на мъдрите и гатанките им.

7 T he reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline.

Страхът от Господа е начало на мъдростта; но безумните презират мъдростта и поуката. Съвет към младите хора

8 M y son, hear the instruction of your father; reject not nor forsake the teaching of your mother.

Сине мой, слушай поуката на баща си и не отхвърляй наставлението на майка си,

9 F or they are a chaplet (garland) of grace upon your head and chains and pendants for your neck.

защото те ще бъдат благодатен венец за главата ти и огърлица около шията ти.

10 M y son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

Сине мой, ако грешните те прилъгват, не се съгласявай!

11 I f they say, Come with us; let us lie in wait blood, let us ambush the innocent without cause;

Ако кажат: Ела с нас, нека поставим засада за кръвопролитие, нека причакаме без причина невинния,

12 L et us swallow them up alive as does Sheol (the place of the dead), and whole, as those who go down into the pit;

както адът нека ги погълнем живи, даже съвършените, като онези, които слизат в рова,

13 W e shall find and take all kinds of precious goods, we shall fill our houses with plunder;

ще намерим всякакъв скъпоценен имот, ще напълним къщите си с плячка,

14 T hrow in your lot with us and be a sworn brother and comrade; let us all have one purse in common—

ще хвърлиш жребия си като един от нас, една кесия ще имаме всички, -

15 M y son, do not walk in the way with them; restrain your foot from their path;

сине мой, не ходи на път с тях, въздържай крака си от пътеката им,

16 F or their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood.

защото техните крака тичат към злото и бързат да проливат кръв.

17 F or in vain is the net spread in the sight of any bird!

Защото напразно се разтяга мрежа пред очите на каквато и да било птица.

18 B ut they are lying in wait for their own blood; they set an ambush for their own lives.

И тези поставят засада против своята си кръв, причакват собствения си живот.

19 S o are the ways of everyone who is greedy of gain; such takes away the lives of its possessors.

Такива са пътищата на всеки сребролюбец: сребролюбието отнема живота на завладените от него. Призивът на мъдростта

20 W isdom cries aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the markets;

Превъзходната мъдрост прогласява по улиците, издига гласа си по площадите,

21 S he cries at the head of the noisy intersections; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks:

вика по главните места на пазарите, при входовете на портите, възвестява из града думите си:

22 H ow long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? And the scoffers delight in scoffing and fools hate knowledge?

Глупави, докога ще обичате глупостта? Присмивателите докога ще се наслаждават на насмешките си и безумните ще мразят знанието?

23 I f you will turn (repent) and give heed to my reproof, behold, I '> Wisdom] will pour out my spirit upon you, I will make my words known to you.

Обърнете се при изобличението ми. Ето, аз ще излея духа си на вас, ще ви направя да разберете словата ми.

24 B ecause I have called and you have refused, have stretched out my hand and no man has heeded it,

Понеже аз виках, а вие отказахте да слушате, понеже протягах ръката си, а никой не внимаваше,

25 A nd you treated as nothing all my counsel and would accept none of my reproof,

но отхвърлихте съвета ми и не приехте изобличението ми -

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when the thing comes that shall cause you terror and panic—

то и аз ще се смея на вашето бедствие, ще се присмея, когато ви нападне страхът,

27 W hen your panic comes as a storm and desolation and your calamity comes on as a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.

когато ви нападне страхът - като опустошителна буря, и бедствието ви се устреми като вихрушка, когато скръб и мъка ви нападнат,

28 T hen will they call upon me but I will not answer; they will seek me early and diligently but they will not find me.

тогава те ще призоват, но аз няма да отговоря, ревностно ще ме търсят, но няма да ме намерят.

29 B ecause they hated knowledge and did not choose the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord,

Понеже намразиха знанието и не разбраха страха от Господа,

30 W ould accept none of my counsel, and despised all my reproof,

не приеха съвета ми и презряха цялото ми изобличение,

31 T herefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way and be satiated with their own devices.

затова ще ядат от плодовете на своя си път и ще се наситят от своите си измислици.

32 F or the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, and the careless ease of fools shall destroy them.

Защото глупавите ще бъдат умъртвени от собственото си отстъпване и безумните ще бъдат погубени от своето си безгрижие.

33 B ut whoso hearkens to me shall dwell securely and in confident trust and shall be quiet, without fear or dread of evil.

А всеки, който ме слуша, ще живее в безопасност и ще бъде спокоен, без да се бои от зло.
