1 T hus the Lord God showed to me, and behold, a basket of summer fruit.

Това е, което Господ Йехова ми показа: Ето кошница със зрели плодове.

2 A nd He said, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the Lord to me, The end has come upon My people Israel; I will not pass by and spare them any more.

И каза: Какво виждаш, Амосе? Отговорих: Кошница със зрели плодове. Тогава Господ ми каза: Дойде краят на народа Ми Израел. Занапред няма вече да ги щадя.

3 A nd the songs of the temple shall become wailings in that day, says the Lord God. The dead bodies shall be many; in every place they shall be cast forth in silence.

И в онзи ден, казва Господ Йехова, храмовите песни ще се превърнат във вой, защото труповете ще бъдат много; навсякъде ще ги изхвърлят мълчешком.

4 H ear this, O you who would swallow up and trample down the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail and come to an end,

Слушайте това, вие, които бихте поглъщали бедните и бихте погубвали сиромасите на тази земя,

5 S aying, When will the New Moon festival be past that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath that we may offer wheat for sale, making the ephah small and the shekel great and falsifying the scales by deceit,

като казвате: Кога ще мине новолунието, за да продадем жито, и съботата, за да изложим на продан пшеница, като смалим ефата, уголемим сикъла и мамим с лъжливи везни? -

6 T hat we may buy the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals; yes, and sell the refuse of the wheat ?

За да купим сиромасите с пари и бедния за един чифт обувки, и да продадем отсевките на пшеницата?

7 T he Lord has sworn by the Glory and Pride of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.

Господ се закле в онзи, с когото Яков се слави, като каза: Наистина няма никога да забравя което и да било от делата им.

8 S hall not the land tremble on this account, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? Yes, it shall rise like the river, all of it, and it shall be tossed about and sink back again to normal level, as does the Nile of Egypt.

Няма ли да се поклати земята за това и всеки, който живее на нея, да жалее? Така! И тя цяла да се издига като Нил, ще се развълнува и спада пак като Египетската река.

9 A nd in that day, says the Lord God, I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the broad daylight.

В онзи ден, казва Господ Йехова, ще направя да залезе слънцето на пладне и ще помрача земята посред бял ден.

10 A nd I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation, and I will cause sackcloth to be put upon all loins and baldness shall come on every head; and I will make that time as the mourning for an only son, and the end of it as a bitter day.

Ще обърна пируванията ви в жалеене и всичките ви песни - в плач; ще сложа вретище на всички кръстове и плешивост на всяка глава; и ще причиня жалеене, като за единороден син, и краят му ще бъде като ден на горчивина.

11 B ehold, the days are coming, says the Lord God, when I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but for hearing the words of the Lord.

Ето, идат дни, казва Господ Йехова, когато ще изпратя глад на земята - не глад за хляб, нито жажда за вода, а за слушане на думите Господни.

12 A nd shall wander from sea to sea and from the north even to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, but shall not find it.

Те ще се скитат от море до море да търсят словото Господне и ще обикалят от север до изток, но няма да го намерят.

13 I n that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.

В онзи ден красивите девици и юношите ще примират от жажда.

14 T hose who swear by Ashimah or the sin of Samaria and say, By the life of your god, O Dan! and, By the life of the way of Beersheba, they shall fall and rise no more.

Онези, които се кълнат с престъплението на Самария, като казват: Твоят Бог живее, Дане! И пътят за Вирсавее живее! - те ще паднат и никога няма да станат вече.
