1 F irst of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men,

2 F or kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way.

3 F or such is good and right, and pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior,

4 W ho wishes all men to be saved and to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the Truth.

ведь Он хочет, чтобы все люди были спасены и познали истину.

5 F or there one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

«Бог един», един и посредник между Богом и человеком – это Человек Иисус Христос.

6 W ho gave Himself as a ransom for all attested to at the right and proper time.

Он отдал Самого Себя как выкуп за всех людей, Он – свидетельство Бога миру, данное в свое время.

7 A nd of this matter I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (special messenger)—I am speaking the truth in Christ, I do not falsify —a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Поэтому я и был поставлен глашатаем, апостолом и учителем истинной веры для других народов, и я говорю вам правду, не лгу.

8 I desire therefore that in every place men should pray, without anger or quarreling or resentment or doubt, lifting up holy hands.

Поэтому я хочу, чтобы мужчины, оставив гнев и споры, поднимали на всяком месте чистые руки в молитве.

9 A lso that women should adorn themselves modestly and appropriately and sensibly in seemly apparel, not with hair arrangement or gold or pearls or expensive clothing,

Также и женщинам следует одеваться скромно и пристойно, соблюдая приличия; пусть они украшают себя не плетением волос, золотом, жемчугом и дорогой одеждой,

10 B ut by doing good deeds (deeds in themselves good and for the good and advantage of those contacted by them), as befits women who profess reverential fear for and devotion to God.

а добрыми делами, которыми и следует заниматься женщинам, посвятившим себя Богу.

11 L et a woman learn in quietness, in entire submissiveness.

Пусть женщины учатся тихо, в полной покорности.

12 I allow no woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to remain in quietness and keep silence.

Я не позволяю женщине учить или же руководить мужчиной; ей следует молчать.

13 F or Adam was first formed, then Eve;

Ведь первым был сотворен Адам, а потом Ева,

14 A nd it was not Adam who was deceived, but woman who was deceived and deluded and fell into transgression.

и обманут был не Адам, а женщина, именно она поддалась лжи и совершила грех.

15 N evertheless they will be saved if they continue in faith and love and holiness with self-control, through the Childbearing or by the birth of the divine Child.

Но женщина будет спасена, рожая детей, если будет жить в вере и любви, свято и благоразумно.
