1 T he word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:

2 G o to the house of the Rechabites and speak to them and bring them into the house of the Lord, into one of the chambers; then give them some wine to drink.

3 S o I took Jaazaniah son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brothers and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites,

Я пошел к Яазании, сыну Иеремии, внуку Хаваццинии, к его братьям и сыновьям – ко всему роду рехавитов.

4 A nd I brought them into the house of the Lord, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah the man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, above the chamber of Maaseiah son of Shallum the keeper of the door.

Я привел их в дом Господень, в комнату сыновей Ханана, сына пророка Игдалии. Она была рядом с комнатой вождей, которая находилась над комнатой привратника Маасеи, сына Шаллума.

5 A nd I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pitchers full of wine, and cups, and I said to them, Drink wine.

Я поставил перед членами рода рехавитов чаши, полные вина, и несколько кубков и сказал им: – Выпейте вина.

6 B ut they said, We will drink no wine, for Jonadab son of Rechab, our father, commanded us: You shall not drink wine, neither you nor your sons, forever.

Но они ответили: – Мы не пьем вина, потому что наш предок Ионадав, сын Рехава, повелел нам: «Ни вы, ни ваши потомки не должны никогда пить вина.

7 N either shall you build a house or sow seed or plant a vineyard or have them; but you shall dwell all your days in tents, that you may live many days in the land where you are temporary residents.

Еще вы не должны строить домов, сеять и возделывать виноградники; пусть ничего этого у вас не будет, потому что вы должны всегда жить в шатрах. Тогда вы долго проживете на той земле, где вы являетесь чужеземцами».

8 A nd we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab son of Rechab, our father, in all that he charged us, to drink no wine all our days—we, our wives, our sons, and our daughters—

Мы послушны всему, что повелел нам Ионадав, сын Рехава. Ни мы, ни наши жены, ни наши сыновья и дочери никогда не пьем вина,

9 A nd not to build ourselves houses to live in; nor do we have vineyard or field or seed.

не строим домов, чтобы жить в них, и у нас нет ни виноградников, ни полей, ни посевов.

10 B ut we have dwelt in tents and have obeyed and done according to all that Jonadab our ancestor commanded us.

Мы живем в шатрах и исполняем все, что повелел нам Ионадав, сын Рехава.

11 B ut when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up against the land, we said, Come and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans and the army of the Syrians. So we are living in Jerusalem.

Но когда Навуходоносор, царь Вавилона, пошел войной на эту страну, мы сказали: «Соберемся и уйдем в Иерусалим, чтобы спастись от войск халдеев и арамеев». Потому мы и поселились в Иерусалиме.

12 T hen came the word of the Lord to Jeremiah:

И сказал Господь Иеремии:

13 T hus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Go and say to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will you not receive instruction and listen to My words and obey them? says the Lord.

– Так говорит Господь Сил, Бог Израиля: Пойди и скажи людям Иудеи и жителям Иерусалима: «Неужели вы не научитесь слушаться Моих слов? – возвещает Господь. –

14 T he command which Jonadab son of Rechab gave to his sons not to drink wine, has been carried out and established. To this day they drink no wine, but they have obeyed their father’s command. But I, even I, have persistently spoken to you, but you have not listened to and obeyed Me.

Ионадав, сын Рехава, повелел своим сыновьям не пить вина, и его повеление было соблюдено. Они и сегодня не пьют вина, потому что послушны повелениям своего предка. А Я снова и снова говорил вам, и вы не слушались Меня.

15 I have sent also to you all My servants the prophets earnestly and persistently, saying, Return now every man from his evil way and amend your doings and go not after other gods to serve them; and then you shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers. But you did not submit and consent to Me or listen to and obey Me.

Снова и снова Я посылал к вам всех Моих слуг пророков. Они говорили: “Обратитесь каждый от своего злого пути и оставьте свои злые деяния; не следуйте за чужими богами, чтобы служить им. Тогда вы будете жить на земле, которую Я дал вам и вашим отцам”. Но вы не обращали внимания и не слушали Меня.

16 S ince the sons of Jonadab son of Rechab have fulfilled and established the command of their father which he commanded them, but these people have not listened to and obeyed Me,

Потомки Ионадава, сына Рехава, исполняют повеление, которое дал им их отец, а этот народ не слушается Меня.

17 T herefore thus says the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing upon Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them, but they have not listened, and I have called to them, but they have not answered.

Поэтому так говорит Господь, Бог Сил, Бог Израиля: Я нашлю на Иудею и на каждого, кто живет в Иерусалиме, все невзгоды, которые Я им предрек. Я говорил с ними, но они не слушали; Я звал их, но они не отвечали».

18 A nd Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Because you have obeyed the command of Jonadab your father and have kept all his precepts and have done according to all that he commanded you,

А роду рехавитов Иеремия сказал: – Так говорит Господь Сил, Бог Израиля: Вы послушны воле своего предка Ионадава, исполняете все его наставления и делаете все, что он повелел.

19 T herefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Jonadab son of Rechab shall never fail a man to stand before Me.

Поэтому так говорит Господь Сил, Бог Израиля: Ионадав, сын Рехава, не останется без потомка, который будет Мне служить.
