1 Е сли бы Господь был не на нашей стороне, – да скажет Израиль, –

If it had not been the Lord Who was on our side—now may Israel say—

2 е сли бы Господь был не на нашей стороне, когда напали на нас люди,

If it had not been the Lord Who was on our side when men rose up against us,

3 т о они поглотили бы нас живьем, когда их гнев разгорелся на нас.

Then they would have quickly swallowed us up alive when their wrath was kindled against us;

4 Т огда потопили бы нас воды, поток пронесся бы над нами;

Then the waters would have overwhelmed us and swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;

5 б урные воды прошли бы над душой нашей.

Then the proud waters would have gone over us.

6 Б лагословен Господь, Который не отдал нас добычей в их зубы.

Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth!

7 Н аша душа избавилась, как птица из сети ловца: сеть порвана, и мы избавились.

We are like a bird escaped from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped!

8 П омощь наша – в Имени Господа, сотворившего небо и землю.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
