1 Н а равнинах Моава, у Иордана, напротив Иерихона, Господь сказал Моисею:

And the Lord said to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho,

2 – Вели израильтянам дать левитам города для обитания из надела, которым они владеют. Дайте им и пастбища вокруг городов.

Command the Israelites that they give to the Levites from the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and pasturelands round about the cities’ walls you shall give to the Levites also.

3 Т огда у них будут города для обитания и пастбища для стад, отар и прочего скота.

They shall have the cities to dwell in and their pasturelands shall be for their cattle, for their wealth, and for all their beasts.

4 П астбища для скота вокруг городов, которые вы дадите левитам, пусть простираются на тысячу локтей вокруг городской стены.

And the pasturelands of the cities which you shall give to the Levites shall reach from the wall of the city and outward 1, 000 cubits round about.

5 В не города отмерьте две тысячи локтей на восток, две тысячи на юг, две тысячи на запад и две тысячи на север, а город – посередине. Эта земля будет у них городским пастбищем для скота. Города-убежища (Втор. 4: 41-43; 19: 1-14; Нав. 20: 1-9)

You shall measure from the wall of the city outward on the east, south, west, and north sides 2, 000 cubits, the city being in the center. This shall belong to as pasturelands for their cities.

6 Ш есть из городов, которые вы дадите левитам, пусть будут городами-убежищами. Туда сможет убежать убивший кого-либо. Сверх того, дайте им еще сорок два города.

Of the cities which you shall give to the Levites there shall be the six cities of refuge, which you shall give for the manslayer to flee into; and in addition to them you shall give forty-two cities.

7 В сего дайте левитам сорок восемь городов с пастбищами.

So all the cities which you shall give to the Levites shall be forty-eight; you shall give them with their adjacent pasturelands.

8 Г орода, которые вы дадите левитам из удела израильтян, нужно давать по уделу каждого рода: берите больше городов у родов, чей удел больше, но меньше у тех, чей удел меньше.

As for the cities, you shall give from the possession of the Israelites, from the larger tribes you shall take many and from the smaller tribes few; each tribe shall give of its cities to the Levites in proportion to its inheritance.

9 Г осподь сказал Моисею:

And the Lord said to Moses,

10 – Обратись к израильтянам и скажи им: «Когда вы переправитесь через Иордан в Ханаан,

Say to the Israelites, When you cross the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

11 в ыберите себе города-убежища, куда сможет убежать всякий, кто убил человека неумышленно.

Then you shall select cities to be cities of refuge for you, that the slayer who kills any person unintentionally and unawares may flee there.

12 О ни будут у вас убежищем от мстителя, чтобы убийце не погибнуть, прежде чем он предстанет перед обществом на суд.

And the cities shall be to you for refuge from the avenger, that the manslayer may not die until he has had a fair trial before the congregation.

13 Ш есть городов, которые вы назначите, будут у вас городами-убежищами.

And of the cities which you give there shall be your six cities for refuge.

14 Н азначьте три города на этой стороне Иордана и три – в Ханаане как города-убежища.

You shall give three cities on this side of the Jordan and three cities in the land of Canaan, to be cities of refuge.

15 Ш есть этих городов будут убежищем для израильтян, чужеземцев и кого-либо еще, кто будет жить среди них: сюда сможет убежать всякий, кто убил человека неумышленно.

These six cities shall be a refuge for the Israelites and for the stranger and the temporary resident among them; that anyone who kills any person unintentionally and unawares may flee there.

16 Е сли человек ударит другого железным предметом так, что тот умрет, он – убийца. Убийцу нужно предать смерти.

But if he struck him down with an instrument of iron so that he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.

17 И ли если у человека в руке камень, которым можно убить, и он ударит другого так, что тот умрет, он – убийца. Убийцу нужно предать смерти.

And if he struck him down by throwing a stone, by which a person may die, and he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.

18 И ли если у человека в руке деревянный предмет, которым можно убить, и он ударит другого так, что тот умрет, он – убийца. Убийцу нужно предать смерти.

Or if he struck him down with a weapon of wood in his hand, by which one may die, and he died, the offender is a murderer; he shall surely be put to death.

19 М ститель за кровь – это тот, кто предаст убийцу смерти; встретив его, он предаст его смерти.

The avenger of blood shall himself slay the murderer; when he meets him, he shall slay him.

20 Е сли человек со злым умыслом толкнет другого или бросит в него что-нибудь так, что тот умрет,

But if he stabbed him through hatred or hurled at him by lying in wait so that he died

21 и ли во вражде ударит его кулаком так, что тот умрет, его нужно предать смерти – он убийца. Встретив убийцу, мститель за кровь предаст его смерти.

Or in enmity struck him down with his hand so that he died, he that smote him shall surely be put to death; he is a murderer. The avenger of blood shall slay the murderer when he meets him.

22 Н о если человек без вражды, нечаянно толкнет другого или без злого умысла бросит в него чем-нибудь,

But if he stabbed him suddenly without enmity or threw anything at or upon him without lying in wait

23 и ли, не видя его, уронит на него камень, которым можно убить, и тот умрет, хотя он не враждовал с ним и не желал ему зла,

Or with any stone with which a man may be killed, not seeing him, and threw it at him so that he died, and was not his enemy nor sought to harm him,

24 п усть общество рассудит между убийцей и мстителем за кровь по этим законам.

Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the avenger of blood according to these ordinances.

25 П усть народ защитит убийцу от мстителя за кровь и отправит его обратно, в город-убежище, куда он убежал. Пусть он живет там до смерти первосвященника, помазанного священным маслом.

And the congregation shall rescue the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood and restore him to his city of refuge to which he had fled; and he shall live in it until the high priest dies, who was anointed with the sacred oil.

26 Н о если убийца выйдет из города-убежища, в который он убежал,

But if the slayer shall at any time come outside the limits of his city of refuge to which he had fled

27 и мститель за кровь найдет его вне города, то мститель за кровь может убить его и не будет виновен в убийстве.

And the avenger of blood finds him outside the limits of his city of refuge and kills the manslayer, he shall not be guilty of blood

28 У бийца должен находиться в городе-убежище до смерти первосвященника. Только после смерти первосвященника он может вернуться домой.

Because the manslayer should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the high priest’s death the manslayer shall return to the land of his possession.

29 Т аковы установленные законы для вас и грядущих поколений, где бы вы ни жили.

And these things shall be for a statute and ordinance to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

30 Л юбого, кто убьет человека, нужно предать смерти как убийцу, по свидетельскому показанию. Но нельзя предавать смерти по показанию лишь одного свидетеля.

Whoever kills any person, the murderer shall be put to death on the testimony of witnesses; but no one shall be put to death on the testimony of one witness.

31 Н е берите выкупа за жизнь убийцы, который заслужил смерть. Его непременно нужно предать смерти.

Moreover, you shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer guilty of death; but he shall surely be put to death.

32 Н е берите выкупа за убежавшего в город-убежище, чтобы позволить ему вернуться и жить на своей земле, прежде чем умрет первосвященник.

And you shall accept no ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, so that he may return to dwell in the land before the death of the high priest.

33 Н е оскверняйте землю, где вы живете. Кровь оскверняет землю, и для земли, на которую была пролита кровь, нельзя совершить отпущения иначе, как кровью того, кто ее пролил.

So you shall not pollute the land in which you live; for blood pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood shed in it, but by the blood of him who shed it.

34 Н е оскверняйте землю, где вы живете, и где обитаю Я. Ведь Я, Господь, обитаю среди израильтян».

And you shall not defile the land in which you live, in the midst of which I dwell, for I, the Lord, dwell in the midst of the people of Israel.
