1 Б ыло ко мне слово Господа:

The word of the Lord came to me again, saying,

2 – Что вы имеете в виду, повторяя о земле Израиля поговорку: «Отцы ели кислый виноград, а у детей на зубах оскомина»?

What do you mean by using this proverb concerning the land of Israel, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?

3 В ерно, как и то, что Я живу, – возвещает Владыка Господь, – вы больше не будете произносить эту поговорку в земле Израиля.

As I live, says the Lord God, you shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.

4 З найте, всякая жизнь принадлежит Мне: и отец, и сын – оба Мои. Кто согрешит, тот и умрет.

Behold, all souls are Mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is Mine; the soul that sins, it shall die.

5 Е сли кто-то праведен и поступает справедливо и праведно:

But if a man is righteous (upright and in right standing with God) and does what is lawful and right,

6 н е ест в горных святилищах, не поклоняется идолам дома Израиля, не соблазняет жены другого и не спит с женщиной во время ее месячных,

And has not eaten upon the mountains nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, has not defiled his neighbor’s wife nor come near to a woman in her time of impurity,

7 н икого не притесняет и возвращает должнику взятое у того в залог, не грабит, дает свой хлеб голодным и одевает нагих,

And has not wronged anyone but has restored to the debtor his pledge, has taken nothing by robbery but has given his bread to the hungry and has covered the naked with a garment,

8 н е дает в рост денег и не взимает процентов, удерживает руку от преступления и справедливо судит между спорящими,

Who does not charge interest or percentage of increase on what he lends, who withholds his hand from iniquity, who executes true justice between man and man,

9 с ледует Моим установлениям и усердно исполняет Мои законы – тот праведен; он несомненно будет жить, – возвещает Владыка Господь.

Who has walked in My statutes and kept My ordinances, to deal justly; he is righteous; he shall surely live, says the Lord God.

10 Е сли у него есть сын, который разбойничает, проливает чужую кровь и делает что-либо из следующего

If he begets a son who is a robber or a shedder of blood, who does to a brother either of these sins of violence,

11 ( хотя его отец и не делал ничего подобного): и если этот сын ест в горных святилищах, соблазняет жену другого,

And leaves undone all of the duties, and has even eaten on the mountains and defiled his neighbor’s wife,

12 п ритесняет нуждающихся и бедняков, грабит, не возвращает должнику взятое у того в залог, поклоняется идолам, творит мерзости,

Has wronged the poor and needy, has taken by robbery, has not restored his pledge, has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination (things hateful and exceedingly vile in the eyes of God),

13 д ает деньги в рост и взимает проценты, – будет ли он жить? Нет! За то, что он совершил эти мерзости, он, несомненно, умрет и сам будет повинен в своей смерти.

And has charged interest or percentage of increase on what he has loaned; shall he then live? He shall not live! He has done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.

14 Н о если у такого человека есть сын, который видит грехи, совершенные отцом, и видя, не поступает по его примеру:

But if this wicked man begets a son who sees all the sins which his father has committed, and considers and fears and does not do like his father,

15 н е ест в горных святилищах, не поклоняется идолам дома Израиля, не соблазняет жены другого,

Who has not eaten upon the mountains nor has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, has not defiled his neighbor’s wife,

16 н икого не притесняет, не требует залога, не грабит, дает свой хлеб голодным и одевает нагих,

Nor wronged anyone, nor has taken anything in pledge, nor has taken by robbery but has given his bread to the hungry and has covered the naked with a garment,

17 у держивает руку от преступления, не дает денег в рост и не взимает процентов, исполняет Мои законы и следует Моим установлениям, – то он не умрет за грех отца; он несомненно будет жить.

Who has withdrawn his hand from the poor, who has not received interest or increase but has executed My ordinances and has walked in My statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father; he shall surely live.

18 А его отец умрет за свой грех, потому что он вымогал, грабил брата и творил зло среди своего народа.

As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, robbed his brother, and did that which is not good among his people, behold, he shall die for his iniquity and guilt.

19 А вы спрашиваете: «Почему же сын не причастен к вине отца?» Раз сын поступал справедливо и праведно, и прилежно исполнял Мои установления, он, несомненно, будет жить.

Yet do you say, Why does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son has done that which is lawful and right and has kept all My statutes and has done them, he shall surely live.

20 К то согрешил, тот и умрет. Сын не будет причастен к вине отца, и отец не будет причастен к вине сына. Праведность будет засчитана праведнику, и злодеяние будет засчитано злодею.

The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear and be punished for the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear and be punished for the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him only, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon the wicked only.

21 Н о если злодей оставит грехи, которые творит, станет исполнять Мои установления и делать то, что справедливо и праведно, он несомненно будет жить; он не умрет.

But if the wicked man turns from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all My statutes and does that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

22 Н и одно из преступлений, которые он совершил, не припомнится ему. Ради сделанных им праведных дел он будет жить.

None of his transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; for his righteousness which he has executed, he shall live.

23 Н еужели Мне больше угодна смерть злодея, – возвещает Владыка Господь, – а не то, чтобы он оставил свои поступки и жил?

Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked? says the Lord, and not rather that he should turn from his evil way and return and live?

24 Н о если праведник оставит праведность, совершит преступление и начнет совершать те же мерзости, что и нечестивый, то разве он будет жить? Ни одно из сделанных им праведных дел не вспомнится. За вероломство, в котором он повинен, и за совершенные им грехи он умрет.

But if the righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? None of his righteous deeds which he has done shall be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed and in his sin that he has sinned, in them shall he die.

25 А вы говорите: «Путь Владыки несправедлив». Слушайте, дом Израиля: это Мой-то путь несправедлив? Не ваши ли пути несправедливы?

Yet you say, The way of the Lord is not fair and just. Hear now, O house of Israel: Is not My way fair and just? Are not your ways unfair and unjust?

26 Е сли праведник оставит праведность и совершит преступление, то за это он умрет; за сделанное им преступление он умрет.

When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity and dies in his sins, for his iniquity that he has done he shall die.

27 А если злодей оставит злодеяния, которые творит, и примется делать то, что справедливо и праведно, он спасет себе жизнь.

Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness which he has committed and does that which is lawful and right, he shall save his life.

28 З а то, что, признав все преступления, которые он творил, он больше не будет делать зло, он, несомненно, будет жить; он не умрет.

Because he considers and turns away from all his transgressions which he has committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

29 А дом Израиля говорит: «Путь Владыки несправедлив». Мои ли пути несправедливы, дом Израиля? Не ваши ли?

Yet says the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not fair and just! O house of Israel, are not My ways fair and just? Are not your ways unfair and unjust?

30 П оэтому, дом Израиля, Я буду судить вас, каждого по его делам, – возвещает Владыка Господь. – Покайтесь! Оставьте свои преступления, чтобы грех не погубил вас.

Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, says the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin and so shall they not be a stumbling block to you.

31 О твергните преступления, которые вы совершили, и обретите новое сердце и новый дух. Зачем вам умирать, дом Израиля?

Cast away from you all your transgressions by which you have transgressed against Me, and make you a new mind and heart and a new spirit. For why will you die, O house of Israel?

32 Н ичья смерть Мне не угодна, – возвещает Владыка Господь. – Покайтесь и живите!

For I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies, says the Lord God. Therefore turn (be converted) and live!
