1 S i el Señor no hubiera estado de nuestro lado —que lo reconozca el pueblo de Israel—,

If it had not been the Lord Who was on our side—now may Israel say—

2 s i el Señor no hubiera estado de nuestro lado cuando todo el mundo se levantó contra nosotros,

If it had not been the Lord Who was on our side when men rose up against us,

3 n os habrían tragado vivos, pues su furia contra nosotros los quemaba;

Then they would have quickly swallowed us up alive when their wrath was kindled against us;

4 ¡ nos habrían arrastrado como una inundación!, ¡nos habrían sepultado como un torrente!,

Then the waters would have overwhelmed us and swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;

5 ¡ nos habrían ahogado como aguas impetuosas!

Then the proud waters would have gone over us.

6 ¡ Bendito sea el Señor, que no nos dejó caer en sus fauces!

Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth!

7 ¡ Escapamos como escapa el ave de la red! ¡La red se abrió, y nosotros escapamos!

We are like a bird escaped from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped!

8 N uestra ayuda viene del Señor, creador del cielo y de la tierra.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
