1 S eñor, defiéndeme de mis oponentes; combate a los que me atacan.

Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me!

2 E cha mano del escudo y del pavés, y ven pronto en mi ayuda.

Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help!

3 T oma una lanza y ataca a mis perseguidores, y dile a mi alma: «Yo soy tu salvación».

Draw out also the spear and javelin and close up the way of those who pursue and persecute me. Say to me, I am your deliverance!

4 ¡ Haz que queden confundidos y en vergüenza los que quieren matarme! ¡Que retrocedan y queden confundidos los que buscan mi mal!

Let them be put to shame and dishonor who seek and require my life; let them be turned back and confounded who plan my hurt!

5 ¡ Que sean como el tamo que arrebata el viento! ¡Que el ángel del Señor los acose!

Let them be as chaff before the wind, with the Angel of the Lord driving them on!

6 ¡ Que sea su camino oscuro y peligroso! ¡Que el ángel del Señor los persiga!

Let their way be through dark and slippery places, with the Angel of the Lord pursuing and afflicting them.

7 S in motivo, ellos me tendieron una trampa; sin motivo, cavaron un hoyo para mí.

For without cause they hid for me their net; a pit of destruction without cause they dug for my life.

8 ¡ Que sean quebrantados de repente, y caigan en la trampa que antes me tendieron! ¡Que caigan en ella, para su desgracia!

Let destruction befall unawares; let the net he hid for me catch him; let him fall into that very destruction.

9 E ntonces yo me alegraré en el Señor; ¡me regocijaré en su salvación!

Then I shall be joyful in the Lord; I shall rejoice in His deliverance.

10 T odos mis huesos exclamarán: «Señor, ¿quién puede compararse a ti? ¡Tú libras de los fuertes a los débiles! ¡Tú libras de sus opresores a los menesterosos!»

All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like You, You Who deliver the poor and the afflicted from him who is too strong for him, yes, the poor and the needy from him who snatches away his goods?

11 U nos testigos violentos se levantan y me interrogan acerca de cosas que yo ignoro.

Malicious and unrighteous witnesses rise up; they ask me of things that I know not.

12 M e pagan mal el bien que les hice, y eso me duele en el alma.

They reward me evil for good to my personal bereavement.

13 S i estaban enfermos, yo me preocupaba; ayunaba y me vestía de cilicio. ¡Quisiera que mis oraciones volvieran a mí!

But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I afflicted myself with fasting, and I prayed with head bowed on my breast.

14 Y o manifestaba mi tristeza por ellos vistiéndome de luto, como por un hermano; ¡como si hubiera muerto mi propia madre!

I behaved as if grieving for my friend or my brother; I bowed down in sorrow, as one who bewails his mother.

15 P ero caí, y ellos se juntaron contra mí; se junto contra mí gente despreciable, gente que yo no conocía, y me maltrataron sin descanso.

But in my stumbling and limping they rejoiced and gathered together; the smiters (slanderers and revilers) gathered against me, and I knew them not; they ceased not to slander and revile me.

16 ¡ Como auténticos truhanes y malvivientes, rechinaban los dientes contra mí!

Like profane mockers at feasts they gnashed at me with their teeth.

17 S eñor, ¿cuánto más seguirás viendo esto? ¡Salva mi vida de las garras de estos leones! ¡Es la única vida que tengo!

Lord, how long will You look on ? Rescue my life from their destructions, my dear and only life from the lions!

18 Y o hablaré de ti en medio de la multitud; ¡te alabaré delante de todo el pueblo!

I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I will praise You among a mighty throng.

19 ¡ No dejes que se burlen de mí los que sin causa me ven como enemigo, ni tampoco los que me odian sin motivo, ésos que se hacen señas con los ojos!

Let not those who are wrongfully my foes rejoice over me; neither let them wink with the eye who hate me without cause.

20 S on gente que no busca la paz, sino que urden planes engañosos en contra de gente inocente.

For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful matters against those who are quiet in the land.

21 S e carcajean al hablar de mí, y exclaman: «¡Ja, ja! ¡Miren lo que hemos llegado a ver!»

Yes, they open their mouths wide against me; they say, Aha! Aha! Our eyes have seen it!

22 P ero tú, Señor, eres testigo; ¡no te quedes callado, ni te alejes de mí!

You have seen this, O Lord; keep not silence! O Lord, be not far from me!

23 ¡ Señor, levántate a defenderme! ¡Dios mío, levántate y hazme justicia!

Arouse Yourself, awake to the justice due me, even to my cause, my God and my Lord!

24 S eñor y Dios, ¡júzgame según tu justicia, para que nadie se burle de mí!

Judge and vindicate me, O Lord my God, according to Your righteousness (Your rightness and justice); and let not rejoice over me!

25 Q ue nadie piense en su corazón: «¡Se cumplió nuestro deseo de verlo derrotado!»

Let them not say in their hearts, Aha, that is what we wanted! Let them not say, We have swallowed him up and utterly destroyed him.

26 Q ue la vergüenza y la confusión sean para los que buscan mi mal. Que se queden avergonzados y confundidos los que se engrandecen contra mí.

Let them be put to shame and confusion together who rejoice at my calamity! Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify and exalt themselves over me!

27 P ero que canten y se alegren los que están a mi favor. Que digan siempre: «¡Grande es el Señor, pues se deleita en el bienestar de su siervo!»

Let those who favor my righteous cause and have pleasure in my uprightness shout for joy and be glad and say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, Who takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.

28 C on mi lengua proclamaré tu justicia, y a todas horas te alabaré.

And my tongue shall talk of Your righteousness, rightness, and justice, and of Your praise all the day long.
