1 E l espíritu de Dios el Señor está sobre mí. Sí, el Señor me ha ungido; me ha enviado a proclamar buenas noticias a los afligidos, a vendar a los quebrantados de corazón, a anunciar libertad a los cautivos, y liberación a los prisioneros;

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound,

2 a proclamar el año de la buena voluntad del Señor, y el día de la venganza de nuestro Dios; a consolar a todos los que están tristes;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

3 a alegrar a los afligidos de Sión; a ponerles una diadema en lugar de ceniza, perfume de gozo en lugar de tristeza, un manto de alegría en lugar de un espíritu angustiado. Y se les llamará robles de justicia plantados por el Señor, para gloria suya.

To grant to those who mourn in Zion—to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit—that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

4 L as ruinas antiguas serán reconstruidas, los asolamientos de antaño serán levantados, las ciudades en ruinas serán reparadas, junto con los escombros de tiempos pasados.

And they shall rebuild the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former desolations and renew the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations.

5 L os extranjeros cuidarán de las ovejas de ustedes, y les servirán en sus campos y en sus viñas,

Aliens shall stand and feed your flocks, and foreigners shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

6 y ustedes serán llamados sacerdotes del Señor y ministros de nuestro Dios; comerán de lo mejor de las naciones, y se pavonearán con sus riquezas.

But you shall be called the priests of the Lord; people will speak of you as the ministers of our God. You shall eat the wealth of the nations, and the glory shall be yours.

7 E n lugar de vergüenza, recibirán doble herencia; en lugar de deshonra, se alegrarán de lo que reciban; porque en sus tierras recibirán doble honra, y gozarán de perpetua alegría.

Instead of your shame you shall have a twofold recompense; instead of dishonor and reproach shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; everlasting joy shall be theirs.

8 Y o, el Señor, amo la justicia y aborrezco el robo y la maldad; así que afirmaré en verdad sus obras y haré con ellos un pacto perpetuo.

For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong with violence or a burnt offering. And I will faithfully give them their recompense in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with them.

9 S us hijos y descendientes serán conocidos entre las naciones y en medio de los pueblos; todos los que los vean reconocerán que son el linaje bendito del Señor.

And their offspring shall be known among the nations and their descendants among the peoples. All who see them will recognize and acknowledge that they are the people whom the Lord has blessed.

10 Y o me regocijaré grandemente en el Señor; mi alma se alegrará en mi Dios. Porque él me revistió de salvación; me rodeó con un manto de justicia; ¡me atavió como a un novio!, ¡me adornó con joyas, como a una novia!

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

11 A sí como la tierra produce sus renuevos, y así como el huerto hace que brote su semilla, así Dios el Señor hará brotar la justicia y la alabanza a los ojos de todas las naciones.

For as the earth brings forth its shoots, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord God will cause rightness and justice and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
