1 P uesto que ustedes ya han resucitado con Cristo, busquen las cosas de arriba, donde está Cristo sentado a la derecha de Dios.

If then you have been raised with Christ, aim at and seek the that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

2 P ongan la mira en las cosas del cielo, y no en las de la tierra.

And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.

3 P orque ustedes ya han muerto, y su vida está escondida con Cristo en Dios.

For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

4 C uando Cristo, que es la vida de ustedes, se manifieste, entonces también ustedes serán manifestados con él en gloria. La vida antigua y la nueva

When Christ, Who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

5 P or lo tanto, hagan morir en ustedes todo lo que sea terrenal: inmoralidad sexual, impureza, pasiones desordenadas, malos deseos y avaricia. Eso es idolatría.

So kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created things instead of God).

6 P or cosas como éstas les sobreviene la ira de Dios a los desobedientes.

It is on account of these that the anger of God is ever coming upon the sons of disobedience (those who are obstinately opposed to the divine will),

7 T ambién ustedes practicaron estas cosas en otro tiempo, cuando vivían en ellas.

Among whom you also once walked, when you were living in and addicted to.

8 P ero ahora deben abandonar también la ira, el enojo, la malicia, la blasfemia y las conversaciones obscenas.

But now put away and rid yourselves of all these things: anger, rage, bad feeling toward others, curses and slander, and foulmouthed abuse and shameful utterances from your lips!

9 N o se mientan los unos a los otros, pues ya ustedes se han despojado de la vieja naturaleza y de sus hechos,

Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old (unregenerate) self with its evil practices,

10 y se han revestido de la nueva naturaleza, la naturaleza del nuevo hombre, que se va renovando a imagen del que lo creó hasta el pleno conocimiento,

And have clothed yourselves with the new, which is renewed and remolded into '> knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him Who created it.

11 d onde ya no importa el ser griego o judío, estar circuncidado o no estarlo, ser extranjero o inculto, siervo o libre, sino que Cristo es todo, y está en todos.

There is no room for and there can be neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarians or Scythians '> who are the most savage of all], nor slave or free man; but Christ is all and in all '> everything and everywhere, to all men, without distinction of person].

12 P or lo tanto, como escogidos de Dios, santos y amados, revístanse de entrañable misericordia, de benignidad, de humildad, de mansedumbre y de paciencia.

Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), purified and holy and well-beloved tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, patience.

13 S ean mutuamente tolerantes. Si alguno tiene una queja contra otro, perdónense de la misma manera que Cristo los perdonó.

Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also.

14 Y sobre todo, revístanse de amor, que es el vínculo perfecto.

And above all these love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness.

15 Q ue en el corazón de ustedes gobierne la paz de Cristo, a la cual fueron llamados en un solo cuerpo. Y sean agradecidos.

And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts to which as one body you were also called. And be thankful (appreciative),.

16 L a palabra de Cristo habite ricamente en ustedes. Instrúyanse y exhórtense unos a otros con toda sabiduría; canten al Señor salmos, himnos y cánticos espirituales, con gratitud de corazón.

Let the word Christ (the Messiah) have its home and dwell in you in richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with grace in your hearts.

17 Y todo lo que hagan, ya sea de palabra o de hecho, háganlo en el nombre del Señor Jesús, dando gracias a Dios el Padre por medio de él. Deberes sociales de la nueva vida

And whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him.

18 U stedes las esposas, respeten a sus esposos, como conviene en el Señor.

Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is right and fitting and your proper duty in the Lord.

19 U stedes los esposos, amen a sus esposas, y no las traten con dureza.

Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh or bitter or resentful toward them.

20 U stedes los hijos, obedezcan a sus padres en todo, porque esto agrada al Señor.

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.

21 U stedes los padres, no exasperen a sus hijos, para que no se desalienten.

Fathers, do not provoke or irritate or fret your children, lest they become discouraged and sullen and morose and feel inferior and frustrated.

22 U stedes los siervos, obedezcan en todo a sus amos terrenales, no sólo cuando los ven, como si quisieran agradar a sus semejantes, sino con sinceridad de corazón, por temor a Dios.

Servants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not only when their eyes are on you as pleasers of men, but in simplicity of purpose because of your reverence for the Lord and as a sincere expression of your devotion to Him.

23 Y todo lo que hagan, háganlo de corazón, como para el Señor y no como para la gente,

Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as for the Lord and not for men,

24 p orque ya saben que el Señor les dará la herencia como recompensa, pues ustedes sirven a Cristo el Señor.

Knowing that it is from the Lord that you will receive the inheritance which is your reward. you are actually serving the Lord Christ (the Messiah).

25 P ero el que hace lo malo, recibirá el pago del mal que haya hecho, porque ante Dios no hay favoritismos.

For he who deals wrongfully will be punished for his wrongdoing. And there is no partiality.
