1 V ậy nếu anh em được sống lại với Đấng Christ, hãy tìm các sự ở trên trời, là nơi Đấng Christ ngồi bên hữu Đức Chúa Trời.

If then you have been raised with Christ, aim at and seek the that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

2 H ãy ham mến các sự ở trên trời, đừng ham mến các sự ở dưới đất;

And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.

3 v ì anh em đã chết, sự sống mình đã giấu với Đấng Christ trong Đức Chúa Trời.

For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

4 K hi nào Đấng Christ, là sự sống của anh em, sẽ hiện ra, bấy giờ anh em cũng sẽ hiện ra với Ngài trong sự vinh hiển.

When Christ, Who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

5 V ậy hãy làm chết các chi thể của anh em ở nơi hạ giới, tức là tà dâm, ô uế, tình dục, tham lam, tham lam chẳng khác gì thờ hình tượng:

So kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created things instead of God).

6 b ởi những sự ấy cơn giận của Đức Chúa Trời giáng trên các con không vâng phục;

It is on account of these that the anger of God is ever coming upon the sons of disobedience (those who are obstinately opposed to the divine will),

7 l úc trước anh em sống trong những nết xấu đó, và ăn ở như vậy.

Among whom you also once walked, when you were living in and addicted to.

8 N hưng bây giờ anh em nên trừ bỏ hết nói sự đó, tức là sự thạnh nộ, buồn giận và hung ác. Đừng nói hành ai, chớ có một lời tục tỉu nào ra từ miệng anh em.

But now put away and rid yourselves of all these things: anger, rage, bad feeling toward others, curses and slander, and foulmouthed abuse and shameful utterances from your lips!

9 C hớ nói dối nhau, vì đã lột bỏ người cũ cùng công việc nó,

Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old (unregenerate) self with its evil practices,

10 m à mặc lấy người mới là người đang đổi ra mới theo hình tượng Đấng dựng nên người ấy, đặng đạt đến sự hiểu biết đầy trọn.

And have clothed yourselves with the new, which is renewed and remolded into '> knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him Who created it.

11 T ại đây không còn phân biệt người Gờ-réc hoặc người Giu-đa, người chịu cắt bì hoặc người không chịu cắt bì, người dã man hoặc người Sy-the, người tôi mọi hoặc người tự chủ; nhưng Đấng Christ là mọi sự và trong mọi sự.

There is no room for and there can be neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarians or Scythians '> who are the most savage of all], nor slave or free man; but Christ is all and in all '> everything and everywhere, to all men, without distinction of person].

12 V ậy anh em là kẻ chọn lựa của Đức Chúa Trời, là người thánh và rất yêu dấu của Ngài, hãy có lòng thương xót. Hãy mặc lấy sự nhơn từ, khiêm nhường, mềm mại, nhịn nhục,

Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), purified and holy and well-beloved tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, patience.

13 n ếu một người trong anh em có sự gì phàn nàn với kẻ khác thì hãy nhường nhịn nhau và tha thứ nhau: như Chúa đã tha thứ anh em thể nào, thì anh em cũng phải tha thứ thể ấy.

Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also.

14 N hưng trên hết mọi sự đó, phải mặc lấy lòng yêu thương, vì là dây liên lạc của sự trọn lành.

And above all these love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness.

15 N guyền xin sự bình an của Đấng Christ cai trị trong lòng anh em, là bình an mà anh em đã được gọi đến đặng hiệp nên một thể; lại phải biết ơn.

And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts to which as one body you were also called. And be thankful (appreciative),.

16 N guyền xin lời của Đấng Christ ở đầy trong lòng anh em, và anh em dư dật mọi sự khôn ngoan. Hãy dùng những ca vịnh, thơ thánh, bài hát thiêng liêng mà dạy và khuyên nhau, vì được đầy ơn Ngài nên hãy hết lòng hát khen Đức Chúa Trời.

Let the word Christ (the Messiah) have its home and dwell in you in richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with grace in your hearts.

17 M ặc dầu anh em nói hãy làm, cũng phải nhơn danh Đức Chúa Jêsus mà làm mọi điều, nhờ Ngài mà tạ ơn Đức Chúa Trời, là Đức Chúa Cha.

And whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him.

18 H ỡi người làm vợ, hãy vâng phục chồng mình, y như điều đó theo Chúa đáng phải nên vậy.

Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is right and fitting and your proper duty in the Lord.

19 H ỡi kẻ làm chồng, hãy yêu vợ mình, chớ hề ở cay nghiệt với người.

Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh or bitter or resentful toward them.

20 H ỡi kẻ làm con, mọi sự hãy vâng phục cha mẹ mình, vì điều đó đẹp lòng Chúa.

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.

21 H ỡi kẻ làm cha, chớ hề chọc giận con cái mình, e chúng nó ngã lòng chăng.

Fathers, do not provoke or irritate or fret your children, lest they become discouraged and sullen and morose and feel inferior and frustrated.

22 H ỡi kẻ làm tôi tớ, trong mọi sự phải vâng phục kẻ làm chủ mình về phần xác, không những hầu việc trước mắt họ, như mình tìm cách cho đẹp lòng người ta, nhưng vì kính sợ Chúa, hãy lấy lòng thật thà mà hầu việc.

Servants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not only when their eyes are on you as pleasers of men, but in simplicity of purpose because of your reverence for the Lord and as a sincere expression of your devotion to Him.

23 H ễ làm việc gì, hãy hết lòng mà làm, như làm cho Chúa, chớ không phải làm cho người ta,

Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as for the Lord and not for men,

24 v ì biết rằng anh em sẽ bởi Chúa mà được cơ nghiệp làm phần thưởng. Hãy hầu việc Đấng Christ, tức là Chúa.

Knowing that it is from the Lord that you will receive the inheritance which is your reward. you are actually serving the Lord Christ (the Messiah).

25 V ì ai ăn ở bất nghĩa, sẽ lại chịu lấy sự bất nghĩa của mình không tây vị ai hết.

For he who deals wrongfully will be punished for his wrongdoing. And there is no partiality.
