2 K huyên những người già cả phải tiết độ, nghiêm trang, khôn ngoan, có đức tin, lòng yêu thương và tánh nhịn nhục vẹn lành.

Urge the older men to be temperate, venerable (serious), sensible, self-controlled, and sound in the faith, in the love, and in the steadfastness and patience.

3 C ác bà già cũng vậy, phải có thái độ hiệp với sự thánh; đừng nói xấu, đừng uống rượu quá độ; phải lấy điều khôn ngoan dạy bảo;

Bid the older women similarly to be reverent and devout in their deportment as becomes those engaged in sacred service, not slanderers or slaves to drink. They are to give good counsel and be teachers of what is right and noble,

4 p hải dạy đờn bà trẻ tuổi biết yêu chồng con mình,

So that they will wisely train the young women to be sane and sober of mind (temperate, disciplined) and to love their husbands and their children,

5 c ó nết na, trinh chánh, trông nom việc nhà; lại biết ở lành, vâng phục chồng mình, hầu cho đạo Đức Chúa Trời khỏi bị một lời chê bai nào.

To be self-controlled, chaste, homemakers, good-natured (kindhearted), adapting and subordinating themselves to their husbands, that the word of God may not be exposed to reproach (blasphemed or discredited).

6 C ũng phải khuyên những người tuổi trẻ ở cho có tiết độ.

In a similar way, urge the younger men to be self-restrained and to behave prudently.

7 H ãy lấy mình con làm gương về việc lành cho họ, trong sự dạy dỗ phải cho thanh sạch, nghiêm trang,

And show your own self in all respects to be a pattern and a model of good deeds and works, teaching what is unadulterated, showing gravity, with dignity and seriousness.

8 n ói năng phải lời, không chỗ trách được, đặng kẻ nghịch hổ thẹn, không được nói xấu chúng ta điều chi.

And let your instruction be sound and fit and wise and wholesome, vigorous and irrefutable and above censure, so that the opponent may be put to shame, finding nothing discrediting or evil to say about us.

9 H ãy khuyên những tôi tớ phải vâng phục chủ mình, phải làm đẹp lòng chủ trong mọi việc, chớ cãi trả,

bond servants to be submissive to their masters, to be pleasing and give satisfaction in every way. not to talk back or contradict,

10 c hớ ăn cắp vật chi, nhưng phải hằng tỏ lòng trung thành trọn vẹn, để làm cho tôn quí đạo Đức Chúa Trời, là Cứu Chúa chúng ta, trong mọi đường.

Nor to steal by taking things of small value, but to prove themselves truly loyal and entirely reliable and faithful throughout, so that in everything they may be an ornament and do credit to the teaching from and about God our Savior.

11 V ả, ân điển Đức Chúa Trời hay cứu mọi người, đã được bày tỏ ra rồi.

For the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind.

It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world,

13 đ ương chờ đợi sự trông cậy hạnh phước của chúng ta, và sự hiện ra của sự vinh hiển Đức Chúa Trời lớn và Cứu Chúa chúng ta, là Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ,

Awaiting and looking for the blessed hope, even the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

14 l à Đấng liều mình vì chúng ta, để chuộc chúng ta khỏi mọi tội và làm cho sạch, đặng lấy chúng ta khỏi mọi tội và làm một dân thuộc riêng về Ngài, là dân có lòng sốt sắng về các việc lành.

Who gave Himself on our behalf that He might redeem us (purchase our freedom) from all iniquity and purify for Himself a people eager and enthusiastic about beneficial deeds.

15 H ãy dạy các điều đó, lấy quyền đầy đủ mà khuyên bảo quở trách. Chớ để ai khinh dể con.

Tell these things. Urge (advise, encourage, warn) and rebuke with full authority. Let no one despise or disregard or think little of you.
