1 H ãy biết rằng trong ngày sau rốt, sẽ có những thời kỳ khó khăn.

But understand this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble.

2 V ì người ta đều tư kỷ, tham tiền, khoe khoang, xấc xược, hay nói xấu, nghịch cha mẹ, bó buộc, không tin kính,

For people will be lovers of self and self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.

3 v ô tình, khó hòa thuận, hay phao vu, không tiết độ, dữ tợn, thù người lành,

without natural affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good.

4 l ường thầy phản bạn, hay nóng giận, lên mình kiêu ngạo, ưa thích sự vui chơi hơn là yêu mến Đức Chúa Trời,

treacherous, rash, inflated with self-conceit. lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God.

5 b ề ngoài giữ điều nhơn đức, nhưng chối bỏ quyền phép của nhơn đức đó. Những kẻ thể ấy, con hãy lánh xa đi.

For they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are strangers to the power of it. Avoid such people.

6 T rong bọn họ có kẻ lẻn vào các nhà, quyến dụ lòng những người đờn bà mang tội lỗi, bị bao nhiêu tình dục xui khiến,

For among them are those who worm their way into homes and captivate silly and weak-natured and spiritually dwarfed women, loaded down with sins swayed and led away by various evil desires and seductive impulses.

7 v ẫn học luôn mà không hề thông biết lẽ thật được.

they are forever inquiring and getting information, but are never able to arrive at a recognition and knowledge of the Truth.

8 X ưa kia Gian-nét với Giam-be chống trả Môi-se thể nào, thì những kẻ nầy cũng chống trả lẽ thật thể ấy: lòng họ hoại bại, đức tin họ không thể chịu thử thách được.

Now just as Jannes and Jambres were hostile to and resisted Moses, so these men also are hostile to and oppose the Truth. They have depraved and distorted minds, and are reprobate and counterfeit and to be rejected as far as the faith is concerned.

9 N hưng họ không làm thêm được nữa, vì sự điên dại của họ sẽ bày tỏ ra cho thiên hạ, cũng như của hai người kia.

But they will not get very far, for their rash folly will become obvious to everybody, as was that of those.

10 V ề phần con, con đã noi theo ta trong sự dạy dỗ, tánh hạnh, ý muốn, đức tin, nhịn nhục, yêu thương, bền đỗ của ta,

Now you have closely observed and diligently followed my teaching, conduct, purpose in life, faith, patience, love, steadfastness,

11 t rong những sự bắt bớ, và hoạn nạn đã xảy đến cho ta tại thành An-ti-ốt, Y-cô-ni và Lút-trơ. Những sự bắt bớ đó ta đều chịu cả, và Chúa đã cứu ta thoát khỏi luôn luôn.

Persecutions, sufferings—such as occurred to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra, persecutions I endured, but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

12 V ả lại, hết thảy mọi người muốn sống cách nhân đức trong Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ, thì sẽ bị bắt bớ.

Indeed all who delight in piety and are determined to live a devoted and godly life in Christ Jesus will meet with persecution.

13 N hưng những người hung ác, kẻ giả mạo thì càng chìm đắm luôn trong điều dữ, làm lầm lạc kẻ khác mà cũng lầm lạc chính mình nữa.

But wicked men and imposters will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and leading astray others and being deceived and led astray themselves.

14 V ề phần con, hãy đứng vững trong những sự con đã đem lòng tin chắc mà học và nhận lấy, vì biết con đã học những điều đó với ai,

But as for you, continue to hold to the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced, knowing from whom you learned,

15 v à từ khi con còn thơ ấu đã biết Kinh Thánh vốn có thể khiến con khôn ngoan để được cứu bởi đức tin trong Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ.

And how from your childhood you have had a knowledge of and been acquainted with the sacred Writings, which are able to instruct you and give you the understanding for salvation which comes through faith in Christ Jesus '> leaning of the entire human personality on God in Christ Jesus in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness].

16 C ả Kinh Thánh đều là bởi Đức Chúa Trời soi dẫn, có ích cho sự dạy dỗ, bẻ trách, sửa trị, dạy người trong sự công bình,

Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action),

17 h ầu cho người thuộc về Đức Chúa Trời được trọn vẹn và sắm sẵn để làm mọi việc lành.

So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.
