1 H ỡi Li-ban, khá mở các cửa ngươi, cho lửa thiêu nuốt những cây bá hương ngươi!

Open your doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour your cedars!

2 H ỡi cây thông, hãy kêu la! vì cây bá hương đã ngã, những cây tốt đẹp đã bị hủy phá. Hỡi cây dẽ ở Ba-san, khá kêu la, vì rừng rậm đã bị chặt.

Wail, O fir tree and cypress, for the cedar has fallen, because the glorious and lofty trees are laid waste! Wail, O you oaks of Bashan, for the thick and inaccessible forest has in flames been felled!

3 C ó tiếng than khóc của những kẻ chăn chiên! vì sự vinh hiển của chúng nó đã bị hủy phá; có tiếng gầm thét của những sư tử con! vì sự kiêu ngạo của Giô-đanh đã bị tồi tàn.

A voice of the wailing of the shepherds, for their glory, the broad pasturage, is laid waste! A voice of the roaring of young lions, for the pride of the Jordan is ruined!

4 G iê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời ta phán như vầy: Hãy cho những con chiên sắp giết ăn cỏ;

Thus says the Lord my God: Shepherd the flock for slaughter,

5 n hững kẻ mua nó giết đi, chẳng lấy làm phạm tội; còn kẻ bán thì nói rằng: Đức Giê-hô-va đáng ngợi khen, vì ta giàu có; và trong những kẻ chăn chẳng một người nào tiếc chúng nó.

Whose buyers or possessors slay them and hold themselves not guilty; and they who sell them say, Blessed be the Lord, for I have become rich! And their own shepherds neither pity nor spare them.

6 Đ ức Giê-hô-va phán: Vì ta chẳng tiếc dân cư đất nầy nữa; nhưng, nầy, ta sẽ phó ai nấy vào trong tay kẻ lân cận mình, và trong tay vua mình; chúng nó sẽ đánh đất, và ta sẽ không giải cứu khỏi tay chúng nó đâu.

For I will no more pity or spare the inhabitants of the land, says the Lord; but behold, I will deliver every man into his neighbor’s hand and into the hand of his king. And shall lay waste the land, and I will not deliver out of the hand.

7 V ậy ta cho những chiên sắp giết ăn cỏ, là những chiên rất khốn nạn trong bầy. Đoạn, ta lấy hai cây gậy: một cây gọi là Tốt đẹp, một cây gọi là Dây buộc; và ta cho bầy chiên ăn.

So I shepherded the flock of slaughter, truly the most miserable of sheep. And I took two staffs, the one I called Beauty or Grace and the other I called Bands or Union; and I fed and shepherded the flock.

8 C hỉ trong một thánh ta diệt mất ba kẻ chăn, vì linh hồn ta đã nhàm chúng nó, và linh hồn chúng nó cũng chán ta.

And I cut off the three shepherds in one month, for I was weary and impatient with them, and they also loathed me.

9 T a bèn nói rằng: Ta sẽ không chăn bay. Con nào chết, chết đi; con nào mất, mất đi; còn những con nào sót lại thì con nầy ăn thịt con kia.

So I said, I will not be your shepherd. What is to die, let it die, and what is to be destroyed, let it be destroyed; and let the survivors devour one another’s flesh.

10 Đ oạn, ta lấy gậy ta gọi là Tốt đẹp mà chặt nó ra từng khúc, đặng dứt lời giao ước mà ta đã kết với hết thảy các dân.

And I took my staff, Beauty or Grace, and broke it in pieces to show that I was annulling the covenant or agreement which I had made with all the peoples.

11 N ó bị dứt trong ngày đó; vậy thì những con chiên rất khốn nạn trong bầy, là chiên nghe theo ta, biết rằng ấy là lời Đức Giê-hô-va.

So the covenant was annulled on that day, and thus the most wretched of the flock and the traffickers in the sheep who were watching me knew (recognized and understood) that it was truly the word of the Lord.

12 T a nói cùng chúng nó rằng: Nếu các ngươi lấy làm tốt, thì hãy cho tiền công ta; bằng không thì đừng cho. Chúng nó bèn cân tiền công cho ta, là ba chục miếng bạc.

And I said to them, If it seems just and right to you, give me my wages; but if not, withhold them. So they weighed out for my price thirty pieces of silver.

13 Đ ức Giê-hô-va phán cùng ta rằng: Hãy lấy giá tốt mà chúng nó định cho ta đó, đem quăng cho thợ gốm! Ta bèn lấy ba chục miếng bạc mà quăng cho thợ gốm tại trong nhà Đức Giê-hô-va.

And the Lord said to me, Cast it to the potter —the munificently sum at which I am priced by them! And I took the thirty pieces of silver and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord.

14 R ồi ta chặt gậy thứ hai của ta, gọi là Dây buộc, đặng dứt tình anh em giữa Giu-đa và Y-sơ-ra-ên.

Then I broke into pieces my other staff, Bands or Union, indicating that I was annulling the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

15 Đ ức Giê-hô-va phán cùng ta rằng: Hãy lấy khí vật của kẻ chăn dại dột cho ngươi.

And the Lord said to me, Take up once more the implements of a worthless and wicked shepherd.

16 V ì nầy, ta sẽ dấy lên một kẻ chăn trong đất nầy, kẻ ấy sẽ chẳng thăm viếng chiên bị mất, chẳng tìm kiếm chiên tản lạc, không chữa con nào bị thương, không nuôi con nào mập mạnh; song nó ăn thịt con rất mập, và xé móng chúng nó.

For behold, I will raise up a false shepherd in the land; the lost and perishing he will not miss or visit, the young and scattered he will not go to seek, the wounded and broken he will not heal, nor will he feed those that are sound and strong; but he will eat the flesh of the fat ones and break off their hoofs.

17 K hốn thay cho kẻ chăn vô ích bỏ bầy mình! Gươm sẽ ở trên cánh tay nó, và trên con mắt hữu nó; cánh tay nó sẽ khô cả, và con mắt hữu nó sẽ mù cả.

Woe to the worthless and foolish shepherd who deserts the flock! The sword shall smite his arm and his right eye; his arm shall be utterly withered and his right eye utterly blinded.
