1 Đ ức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Chớ nào từ để mà ta đã để mẹ các ngươi ra ở đâu? Ai là người chủ nợ mà ta đã bán các ngươi cho? Nầy, các ngươi bị bán, là tại tội lỗi mình; mẹ các ngươi bị bỏ, là tại sự bội nghịch các ngươi.

Thus says the Lord: Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce with which I put her away, O Israel? Or which of My creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities you were sold, and for your transgressions was your mother put away.

2 C ớ sao khi ta đến, chẳng thấy có người nào? Cớ sao khi ta gọi, chẳng có ai thưa lại? Tay ta há ngắn quá không chuộc được sao? hay là sức ta không đủ mà cứu được sao? Nầy, ta chỉ nạt một cái thì biển liền cạn. Ta biến sông thành đồng vắng; cá dưới sông vì khan nước phải chết khát, hóa ra hôi thối.

Why, when I came, was there no man? When I called, why was there no one to answer? Is My hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a desert; their fish stink because there is no water, and they die of thirst.

3 T a lấy sự tối tăm mặc cho các từng trời, và khoác cho một cái bao gai.

I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

4 C húa Giê-hô-va đã ban cho ta cái lưỡi của người được dạy dỗ, hầu cho ta biết dùng lời nói nâng đỡ kẻ mệt mỏi. Ngài đánh thức tai ta để nghe lời Ngài dạy, như học trò vậy.

'> Servant of God says] The Lord God has given Me the tongue of a disciple and of one who is taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He wakens Me morning by morning, He wakens My ear to hear as a disciple.

5 T hật, Chúa Giê-hô-va đã mở tai ta, ta không trái nghịch, cũng không giựt lùi.

The Lord God has opened My ear, and I have not been rebellious or turned backward.

6 T a đã đưa lưng cho kẻ đánh ta, và đưa má cho kẻ nhổ râu ta; ai mắng hoặc giổ trên ta, ta chẳng hề che mặt.

I gave My back to the smiters and My cheeks to those who plucked off the hair; I hid not My face from shame and spitting.

7 C húa Giê-hô-va sẽ giúp ta, nên ta chẳng bị mắc cỡ; vậy ta làm cho mặt ta cứng như đá; vì biết mình sẽ chẳng có điều chi xấu hổ.

For the Lord God helps Me; therefore have I not been ashamed or confounded. Therefore have I set My face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.

8 Đ ấng xưng ta công bình đã đến gần; ai dám kiện với ta? Hãy cùng ta đều đứng lên! Ai là kẻ đối địch ta? Hãy lại gần ta!

He is near Who declares Me in the right. Who will contend with Me? Let us stand forth together! Who is My adversary? Let him come near to Me.

9 T hật, Chúa Giê-hô-va sẽ đến giúp ta: Ai định tội lỗi ta được? Nầy, hết thảy chúng nó sẽ cũ đi như áo, bị sâu cắn rách.

Behold, the Lord God will help Me; who is he who will condemn Me? Behold, they all will wax old and be worn out as a garment; the moth will eat them up.

10 T rong vòng các ngươi nào có ai kính sợ Đức Giê-hô-va, và nghe tiếng của tôi tớ Ngài? Kẻ nào đi trong tối tăm và không có sự sáng thì hãy trông cậy danh Đức Chúa Trời mình.

Who is among you who fears the Lord, who obeys the voice of His Servant, yet who walks in darkness and deep trouble and has no shining splendor ? Let him rely on, trust in, and be confident in the name of the Lord, and let him lean upon and be supported by his God.

11 K ìa, hết thảy các ngươi là kẻ thắp lửa và đốt đuốc vây lấy mình, thì hãy đi giữa ngọn lửa mình và giữa những đuốc mình đã đốt! Aáy là sự tay ta đã làm cho các ngươi, các ngươi sẽ nằm trong sự buồn bực!

Behold, all you who attempt to kindle your own fires, who surround and gird yourselves with momentary sparks, darts, and firebrands that you set aflame!—walk by the light of your self-made fire and of the sparks that you have kindled! But this shall you have from My hand: you shall lie down in grief and in torment.
