1 A áy bởi điều đó, mà tôi, Phao-lô, vì anh em là người ngoại mà làm kẻ tù của Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ.

For this reason '> because I preached that you are thus built up together], I, Paul, the prisoner of Jesus the Christ for the sake and on behalf of you Gentiles—

2 V ả, anh em có nghe Đức Chúa Trời ban chức cho tôi, là ân điển mà Ngài vì anh em phó cho tôi,

Assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace (His unmerited favor) that was entrusted to me for your benefit,

3 t hể nào bởi sự tỏ ra, tôi đã hiểu biết điều mầu nhiệm mà tôi mới bày tỏ cùng anh em mấy lời.

that the mystery (secret) was made known to me and I was allowed to comprehend it by direct revelation, as I already briefly wrote you.

4 Đ ọc đến thì anh em có thể rõ sự hiểu biết của tôi về lẽ mầu nhiệm của Đấng Christ,

When you read this you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ.

5 l à lẽ mầu nhiệm trong các đời khác, chưa từng phát lộ cho con cái loài người, mà bây giờ đã được Đức Thánh Linh tỏ ra cho các sứ đồ thánh và tiên tri của Ngài.

was never disclosed to human beings in past generations as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles (consecrated messengers) and prophets by the Spirit.

6 L ẽ mầu nhiệm đó tức là: Dân ngoại là kẻ đồng kế tự, là các chi của đồng một thể, đều có phần chung với chúng ta về lời hứa đã nhờ Tin Lành mà lập trong Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ;

that the Gentiles are now to be fellow heirs, members of the same body and joint partakers in the same divine promise in Christ through the glad tidings (the Gospel).

7 c òn tôi đã trở nên kẻ giúp việc Tin Lành ấy cứ sự ban cho của ân điển Đức Chúa Trời, là ân điển đã ban cho tôi bởi công hiệu của quyền phép Ngài.

Of this I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s free grace (undeserved favor) which was bestowed on me by the exercise (the working in all its effectiveness) of His power.

8 P hải, ân điển đó đã ban cho tôi, là kẻ hèn hơn hết mọi thánh đồ, để rao truyền cho dân ngoại sự giàu có không dò được của Đấng Christ,

To me, though I am the very least of all the saints (God’s consecrated people), this grace (favor, privilege) was granted and graciously entrusted: to proclaim to the Gentiles the unending (boundless, fathomless, incalculable, and exhaustless) riches of Christ,

9 v à soi sáng cho mọi người biết sự phân phát lẽ mầu nhiệm, từ đời thượng cổ đã giấu kín trong Đức Chúa Trời là Đấng dựng nên muôn vật.

Also to enlighten all men and make plain to them what is the plan of the mystery kept hidden through the ages and concealed until now in God Who created all things by Christ Jesus.

10 A áy vậy, hiện nay sự khôn sáng mọi đường của Đức Chúa Trời cậy Hội thánh mà bày tỏ ra cho những kẻ làm đầu và những kẻ cầm quyền trong các nơi trên trời,

that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.

11 t heo ý định đời đời của Ngài đã làm xong trong Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ, Chúa chúng ta,

This is in accordance with the terms of the eternal and timeless purpose which He has realized and carried into effect in Christ Jesus our Lord,

12 t rong Ngài chúng ta nhờ đức tin đến Ngài mà được tự do đến gần Đức Chúa Trời cách dạn dĩ.

In Whom, because of our faith in Him, we dare to have the boldness (courage and confidence) of free access (an unreserved approach to God with freedom and without fear).

13 T ôi cũng xin anh em chớ nhơn sự hoạn nạn tôi chịu vì anh em mà ngã lòng điều đó là điều vinh hiển của anh em vậy.

So I ask you not to lose heart at what I am suffering in your behalf. for it is an honor to you.

14 A áy là vì cớ đó mà tôi quì gối trước mặt Cha,

For this reason '> seeing the greatness of this plan by which you are built together in Christ], I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 b ởi Cha mà cả nhà trên trời và dưới đất đều được đặt tên,

For Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.

16 t ôi cầu xin Ngài tùy sự giàu có vinh hiển Ngài khiến anh em được quyền phép bởi Thánh Linh mà nên mạnh mẽ trong lòng;

May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the Spirit.

17 đ ến nỗi Đấng Christ nhơn đức tin mà ngự trong lòng anh em;

May Christ through your faith dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love,

18 đ ể anh em khi đã đâm rễ vững nền trong sự yêu thương, được hiệp cùng các thánh đồ mà hiểu thấu bề rộng, bề dài, bề cao, bề sâu của nó là thể nào,

That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth;

19 v à được biết sự yêu thương của Đấng Christ, là sự trổi hơn mọi sự thông biết, hầu cho anh em được đầy dẫy mọi sự dư dật của Đức Chúa Trời.

to know '> through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge; that you may be filled unto all the fullness of God '> become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!

20 V ả, Đức Chúa Trời, bởi quyền lực cảm động trong chúng ta, có thể làm trổi hơn vô cùng mọi việc chúng ta cầu xin hoặc suy tưởng,

Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the power that is at work within us, is able to do superabundantly, far over and above all that we ask or think —

21 n guyền Ngài được vinh hiển trong Hội thánh, và trong Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ, trải các thời đại, đời đời vô cùng. A-men.

To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).
