1 H ỡi con cái Y-sơ-ra-ên, hãy nghe lời của Đức Giê-hô-va; vì Đức Giê-hô-va có sự kiện cáo với dân đất nầy, bởi trong đất nầy chẳng có lẽ thật, chẳng có nhơn từ, cũng chẳng có sự nhận biết Đức Chúa Trời.

Hear the word of the Lord, you children of Israel, for the Lord has a controversy (a pleading contention) with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no faithfulness, love, pity and mercy, or knowledge of God in the land.

2 Ở đó chỉ thấy những sự thề gian, thất tín, giết người, ăn trộm, và tà dâm; chúng nó làm sự tàn bạo, máu chồng trên máu.

There is nothing but swearing and breaking faith and killing and stealing and committing adultery; they break out, one bloodshed following close on another.

3 V ậy nên, đất ấy sẽ sầu thảm; hết thảy người ở đó sẽ hao mòn, những thú đồng và chim trời cũng vậy; những cá biển cũng sẽ bị lấy đi.

Therefore shall the land mourn, and all who dwell in it shall languish, together with the wild beasts of the open country and the birds of the heavens; yes, the fishes of the sea also shall be collected and taken away.

4 D ầu vậy, chớ có ai biện luận, chớ có ai quở trách! Vì dân ngươi giống như những người cãi lẫy thầy tế lễ.

Yet let no man strive, neither let any man reprove, for with you is My contention, O priest.

5 N gươi sẽ vấp ngã giữa ban ngày; chính mình kẻ tiên tri cũng sẽ vấp ngã với ngươi trong ban đêm, và ta sẽ diệt mẹ ngươi.

And you shall stumble in the daytime, and the prophet also shall stumble with you in the night; and I will destroy your mother.

6 D ân ta bị diệt vì cớ thiếu sự thông biết. Bởi ngươi bỏ sự thông biết thì ta cũng bỏ ngươi, đặng ngươi không làm thầy tế lễ cho ta nữa; bởi ngươi đã quên luật pháp của Đức Chúa Trời mình, thì ta cũng sẽ quên con cái ngươi.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you that you shall be no priest to Me; seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

7 C húng nó sanh sản nhiều ra bao nhiêu, thì chúng nó lại phạm tội nghịch cùng ta bấy nhiêu: ta sẽ đổi sự vinh hiển của chúng nó ra sỉ nhục.

The more they increased and multiplied, the more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame.

8 C húng nó ăn tội lỗi dân ta; ham hố sự gian ác của nó.

They feed on the sin of My people and set their heart on their iniquity.

9 S ẽ xảy ra dân thể nào thì thầy tế lễ cũng thể ấy: ta sẽ phạt nó vì đường lối nó và sẽ trả cho nó tùy việc nó làm.

And it shall be: Like people, like priest; I will punish them for their ways and repay them for their doings.

10 C húng nó sẽ ăn mà không được no, hành dâm mà không sanh sản thêm, vì chúng nó đã bỏ Đức Giê-hô-va không nghĩ đến Ngài nữa.

For they shall eat and not have enough; they shall play the harlot and beget no increase, because they have forsaken the Lord for harlotry;

11 S ự dâm dục, rượu cũ và rượu mới cất lấy hết trí khôn chúng nó.

Harlotry and wine and new wine take away the heart and the mind and the spiritual understanding.

12 D ân ta hỏi tượng gỗ nó, thì gậy nó trả lời; vì lòng dâm làm lầm lạc chúng nó, và chúng nó phạm tội tà dâm mà lìa bỏ Đức Chúa Trời mình.

My people ask counsel of their wood, and their staff gives them oracles and instructs them. For the spirit of harlotry has led them astray and they have played the harlot, withdrawing themselves from subjection to their God.

13 C húng nó dâng tế lễ trên các chót núi; đốt hương trên các đồi, dưới những cây dẽ, cây liễu, cây thông, vì bóng nó mát mẻ lắm. Vậy nên, con gái các ngươi hành dâm, và dâu các ngươi phạm tội ngoại tình.

They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains, and they burn incense upon the hills and under oaks, poplars, and terebinths, because there the shade is good. Therefore your daughters play the harlot and your sons’ wives commit adultery.

14 T a sẽ không phạt con gái các ngươi bởi cớ hành dâm, cũng không phạt dâu các ngươi bởi cớ ngoại tình; vì những đờn ông đi riêng với đồ điếm đĩ, và dâng của lễ với đờn bà dâm đãng. Vậy nên dân sự chẳng hiểu biết sẽ bị úp đổ.

I will not punish your daughters when they play the harlot nor your daughters-in-law when they commit adultery, for themselves go aside in order to be alone with women who prostitute themselves for gain, and they sacrifice at the altar with dedicated harlots. Therefore the people without understanding shall stumble and fall and come to ruin.

15 H ỡi Y-sơ-ra-ên, dầu ngươi tà dâm, Giu-đa cũng không nên phạm tội! Vậy chớ vào nơi Ghinh-ganh! Chớ lên nơi Bết -A-ven! Chớ có thề mà rằng: Thật như Đức Giê-hô-va hằng sống.

Though you, Israel, play the harlot and worship idols, let not Judah offend and become guilty; come not to Gilgal, neither go up to Beth-aven, nor swear, As the Lord lives.

16 V ì Y-sơ-ra-ên đã bạn nghịch như con bò cái tơ bất trị, nên bây giờ Đức Giê-hô-va cho chúng nó ăn cỏ như chiên con thả trong đồng rộng.

For Israel has behaved stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer. How then should he expect to be fed and treated by the Lord like a lamb in a large pasture?

17 E

Ephraim is joined to idols, let him alone.

18 Đ ồ chúng nó uống đã chua đi; chúng nó làm sự gian dâm chẳng thôi. Các quan trưởng nó vui lòng trong sự sỉ nhục.

Their drinking carousal over, they go habitually to play the harlot; rulers love shame more than her glory.

19 G ió đã lấy cánh cuốn nó, và chúng nó sẽ mang xấu hổ vì của lễ mình.

The resistless wind has bound up in its wings or skirts, and they and their altars shall be put to shame because of their sacrifices.
